(SEEKING ARTISTS! HMU ON DISCORD @Pixelpax#5375 if you'd like to collaborate in the future!) I ate a lot of morning rounds. Probably 6. And two english muffins. I feel like they're cookie-adjacent. It's the best I can do.

Lovely graphics! I included it in my Mini Jam 107 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Developer

Compilation playthrough is such a cool idea, really appreciate you including my game :)

The idea was to hold down the thruster, then use WASD as platformer controls while gravity is turned on (no control in 0 g)

Hearing you read it out loud definitely showed me I added waaaaaaaay too much dialogue, hahaha.

This was incredible on many fronts. I loved the art -- beautiful -- and the dialogue was really well written and witty (especially enjoyed the conversation at the end). And beyond that, the concept is really, really cool, and the way the "gravity" was implemented felt so realistic. The controls took some getting used to, and they still felt a bit janky, for some reason (and the asteroid collisions made things fly around in what seemed to me to be a chaotic fashion).

This is really good!

Visually this is one of, if not my favorite entry in the jam. the interpretation of the limitation is unique and interesting to play with.

Hello PixelPax,

One of the most incredible presentations I've seen on Jam so far, the game is extremely beautiful.

I had a lot of difficulties at first to understand how to control the character and gravity, but once I understood, I was able to enjoy the game. The idea of moving the ship and not "gravity" was really cool. It was a great concept and an incredible presentation, amazing work!

Thank you so much for giving it a thorough try and being patient with it :)

One of those things where, playtesting it myself, I got very used to the controls, but after releasing it I realized how unintuitive they were for most players. This is definitely a learning experience for me!

The art is fantastic. And i mean both, graphics and music; from the first second. I also chuckled out loud in some of the dialog, specially with the wife liking spikes so much :D.

It does not feel like it was done in a weekend—so well polished!

I had a bit of problems with the controls, specially with a non-standard keyboard, but i blame it to my terrible two-hand coordination.

The gravity mechanic is also very well thought. Kudos!

Really cool idea, like the main character animation and nice use of the mum joke. More of an aesthetic thing and probably a personal choice but I found the clean text font a little odd in a pixel art game going for more of a retro font might suit the game a little more. Other than that thought this was really good!

This was really cool!!  I loooooved the art and the story and characters were great!  Really cool idea with the gravity limitation and moving the ship around -creative way of doing it!  The music was fantastic too and really added to the vibe of the game! -awesome job on this!! :D

also i lmfaooo when the dude said his wife designed that part of the ship -she loves spikes xD

The high quality art and the magnitude of solidly developed mechanics makes this game extremely impressive. Other than a jolty camera shake and a sometimes-disappearing character, the gameplay elements worked really well together. You did an amazing job with this!

Developer

Thanks so much! That makes me happy to read!

I JUST figured out why the character disappears-- it was my squash and stretch controller. It was saying, "I'm detecting a sudden extreme change in position, I'm gonna go ahead and stretch her out to infinite length and 0 width, that's what you want, right?"

Should be completely fixed now, and I'll look at tuning the camera jolting next-- if that would change your ranking, re-evaluation appreciated  :) I imagine not being able to see the character would make the game a lot less fun!

It didn't affect the ranking I gave, basically every game has some kind of bug so it's not something I'm going to scrutinize for a 3 day game jam lol

Wow, it's such a unique experience. From Blender 3D pixalization to gravity mechanics. Can't believe you did all of this almost alone in such a short time. Once you get used to controls it's so enjoyable. Unfortunately I got clipped through level boundaries late in the game and was unable to finish it, but this won't effect my positive vote^^  Great Work! Definetely top tier submission

Nvm, I understood that there was restart level Button, so it's my mistake. I finished it from beginning again, Ending was worth it

Great art. not seeing player kind of made it difficult, i tried waiting like you said in description but character never appeared. but still beautiful art.

Developer

Hey, this was a bug caused by a last minute update. It should be working again, would you mind re-evaluating? So sorry for any frustration that caused.

Submitted

yeah i'll be glad to re-evaluate. bugs happen that's the fun of game jams =)

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you!!! I fixed the bug, but didn't include the third level in my build so the loading screen will freeze there (facepalm).

THIS bug will be fixed in 5-6m.

FIXED!

Bad news first. My inputs didn't totally work. Unless I am missing something. I could only use K. The good news is...  I'm impressed regardless!

Enjoyment: The enjoyment factor definitely was hindered by the input thing. But I did still enjoy flopping the ship around.

Concept:  Concept was what comes in clutch. Even as a demo experience this was a really cool idea. I would have never thought about this one.

Presentation: The presentation. By god. The style is so gorgeous. It's easy to opt for the simplified designs when using pixel art so I applaud your usage here. Also WOW the cutscene. Tough thing to shoot for. But did make me giggle.

I desire a wife with a spike collection. I'll wear goggles.

Use of the Limitation: The usage was clever and unique

I also use Corgi hehe. it can be hard to hide that with everything being so iconic to users. I like to rep corgi because its a phenomenal base for any game.

Thank you for all the kind words! Only "k" working is not a bug! You'll have to play through until level 2, where you can activate "bottom thrusters" by pressing space against the console in the middle of the room. (The Captain is trying to tell you this when he says 'only the bottom thrusters are online' but it probably gets lost in the text wall)

I'll put more in the dialogue and description to make this clear

Submitted

You know. I did consider that. But even when i skipped the level the thrusters were disabled so i assumed bug. Fair enough.

Developer

The next level has obstacles in the way of the ship, so it's possible you were flying against an asteroid.

I went ahead and updated to make those changes,  thank you so much for the feedback.

Any re-evaluation your willing to do is appreciated, but I understand if you're busy!
