Super cute art, and every detail make it addicted. It could become a nice mobile minigame, keep it up.

Overall good job!

Host(+2)

Really cool idea, and the art is so nice! I like the idea of growing plants to act as platforms, but I would have liked more control over where to grow as a lot of it felt a little random and it was quite hard to aim with the watering can. I don't know how many levels there were to this game but I would have liked more water and more seeds because I kept using them up too quickly haha. Good game!

Developer

Thank you for taking the time to play our game! I appreciate your feedback and will be making adjustments in the post voting period patch I am planning on implementing. The randomness was toned up a bit too much and was intended to be pseudo-random to give it a more plant-like feel. Kind of backfired. Level balance was tricky, I’ve come to realize that making the game easier is usually the better way to go.

Once again, thank you for the feedback, and for hosting the jam. It has been such a massive learning experience. Looking forward to participating in any future MashUp game jams!

Fun game! good job!

5/5. This is great. The topic usage was amazing. The mechanics are fun, fair, and unique. The Graphics are cute and really good. The audio was really good. The only gripe that I have is that you can't see where the water goes before shooting it. The jumping feels amazing. Great game especially with the time limit

This is a lot of fun. Such a nice concept and executed so well. I loved the part where you have to grow the foliage over the wall to get over it. Great Job.

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked that level, I was a bit worried it'd be too frustrating. Thanks for playing and for the feedback!! :D

Propagate Ups and Downs

Ups:

  • Graphics are insanely good
  • I love the parallax effect happening in the background
  • The concept is ingenious and works amazingly in practice
  • The mechanics of growing platforms is used in a few different ways which really kept my interest and made me want to keep playing to see what could be done next

Downs:

  • Music would've been a nice addition
  • Maybe it's just me, but I think the jumping felt kind of heavy, as if the character had a lot of gravity applied to them

Overall, a fantastic entry that, in my mind, should undoubtedly be among the top rated games of this jam!

Developer(+1)

Gosh I’ve been trying so hard to nail jumping in games haha! Maybe character controllers aren’t my thing.

Thank you for such high praise. All of the comments we’ve received have been highly motivating for me. Im not sure what to really do with this little game jam project but it would be a shame not to fix many of the minor technical issues so I will at least develop a patch after the voting period.

Awesome! definitely gonna win. Make this a full game.

Developer(+1)

I’m honestly just hoping to improve from previous jam entries I’ve submitted. If we win in a category then that’s just a bonus! Glad you enjoyed the game! Thanks for playing!

Really good execution for the theme, I enjoyed the game :D

Keep it up!

Clever idea, well executed!  Nice job!

thank you so much!!!

Really cool platformer! Movement felt really good!

Cool design! Imo there was a slight quality gap between some of the assets. I think the logo looks really well made and professional, the character and the grassy platforms too. But in comparison to that, the stone platforms were looking a bit bland and could have done with less crevices. Also, the font and the way it was integrated into the game could have been improved.

But overall I enjoyed it and the mechanic was fun!

Developer(+1)

thank you for the feedback!! I agree, we definitely could have done a bit more for the stone platforms. Glad you enjoyed it!!

Developer(+1)

Many of the quality concerns are due to time constraints. Next time around I plan on planning out asset development more and streamlining the process. The vision for the game wasn’t as clear early Saturday as it was mid Sunday.

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked the game!

the character is cute, the game was fun, i made it all the way to the end! it reminded me of my game only instead of growing mushrooms you're growing bushes. great job I loved it a lot!

Developer

Thank you!!! :D I'll check out your game later today, excited to play it!

Really cool idea for a platformer -very unique!  Loved it!  Fun and challenging -the graphics were beautiful too!  Amazing work! :D

Developer(+1)

Very flattering coming from someone who possesses a clear understanding of game design and creation. I’ve played some of your other games. Many are super well polished. Thank you for taking the time to play our game!

Awww shucks ^_^ thanks dude!  I had a great time playing it -you two did fantastic work on it! :D

Awesome game. Can't wait to start making 2D games with unity as well. Loved the theme and level design!

Developer(+1)

thank you!! :D so glad you liked it!!

Developer(+1)

Highly recommend tinkering with Unity’s 2D tools and getting a grip of what they are capable of. When first learning how to use the Tilemap component and tile palette window it was extremely tedious and probably slowed development time rather than improved it. This time around I knew what I was getting into but I still have a lot to learn.

Anyways thank you for playing!

Wonderful job, great graphics, loved the plant building mechanics. Very creative and original, level design was fun as well. Only thing lacking was audio, but overall fantastic game.

Developer

thank you so much!! We definitely ran out of time for audio ahaha, but I'm glad everything else helped make up for it :')

Ideas are unique but the level design + how plant grows makes the game more challenging than needed

Developer

It was hard to balance. I definitely should have reduced the amount of randomness of the foliage growth. I tend to try and make jam games easy. I probably could have tweaked the amount of seeds the player gets per level as well as water. Will improve upon this learning experience in the future.

Submitted(+1)

Personally, i would focus more on the gameplay of growing tree, connecting them from platforms to platforms instead of limiting amount of seeds and water.

Or maybe add refill, at checkpoints every now and then. Game would still be challenging but also more forgiving.

Right now, it feels like i have to conserve seeds and water through the whole map which i don't even know how long it is.

Developer(+1)

I’m not fond of removing the seeds or water limitation, but I do like the idea of checkpoints. That would be a nice trade off, and could allow for larger more open ended maps.

Submitted(+1)

It doesn't have any music, but somehow it still fits the atmosphere of the game. I love the art style and the idea of your game!

Developer

We definitely wanted to make music but poured our focus into refining the level design and gameplay above all else. Glad you enjoyed playing!
