I actually think keyboard and mouse is solid. One thing is, it feels very hard to get a left hand punch when using the mouse with your right hand. A fix for this would a slider to account for hand bias perhaps. Another small bug is when I've been holding down block, if I click left mouse without letting go of block, it doesn't register. What should happen is it should switch to the most recent input. Camera height should be changeable as well. Final small critique, the game makes me quite dizzy, as I'm spinning around a lot, not sure how to fix this though.

I believe our musician, Arthur, made it in audacity. I could be wrong. If you want the original files I can ask him for them.

Yes we made it during the jam.

Thanks!

Thank you for the generous review!

As for those levels that need quick timing and placing of a portal to not die immediately, I agree with you, its perhaps pretty frustrating. Maybe at the beginning there should just always be a wall to prevent the player from walking off the edge.

Probably one of the best takes on the theme I've seen. The game itself is very hard though, and as mentioned by others, the quick acceleration and button delay make it extremely challenging and a bit frustrating. The visuals and audio are very solid. A few changes and perhaps more playtesting to polish the mechanics would make it an absolutely awesome game.

😊

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed the music!

Thank you for the feedback! You weren't missing something for level 8, we made the timing a bit tight and we didn't have time for that many people to playtest, so most of the playtesting ended up being ourselves, so it was hard to gauge the difficulty and frustration of each level. I'm glad you enjoyed the game overall though, thank you for playing!

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Love the idea but the difficulty of the levels were a bit off. The music and art style were fantastic though, and I still enjoyed the game a lot. Wonderful submission!

Pretty fun, gameplay could be a bit faster paced. Very creative interpretation of the theme.

Very impressively done for a three day game jam. Great visuals and particle effects. The theme was not very creatively used and the idea isn't very original but the game is so polished and well made that it was still awesome overall. Fantastic entry.

Thank you for your feedback, I definitely understand where you are coming from. Perhaps player speed could be adjustable or yeah multiple portals could have been used. The thing with multiple portals at once is it makes the controls slightly less intuitive than with just one portal.

Another idea perhaps is a slowdown mechanic where the player can move slower for a few seconds at a time to give them more time to think and figure out the puzzle while still having the time constraint of the player moving forward.

Thank you so much for the kind review! Made our day to see people enjoying the game.

Great feedback, we should have spent more time thinking about player experience and frustration. Maybe we could have had the character speed be adjustable.

Thanks for the feedback! I know some of the levels can get frustrating because of how narrow the timing window is, but I felt it was part of the mechanics of the game.

Yes exactly! We were going for more of a puzzle game rather than a platformer. I’m glad you enjoyed the game and the music.

Yeah it is indeed quite hard for touchpad but we couldn’t find a way to fix it, sorry about that. Thank you for playing though!

Thanks for playing!

Ah I see, that makes sense. The thing with the portals is we wanted to make it so the player actually had to go in the front of the portal to teleport, but this perhaps was not communicated well through the visuals.

Wonderful job, great graphics, loved the plant building mechanics. Very creative and original, level design was fun as well. Only thing lacking was audio, but overall fantastic game.

Great idea, however the platforming mechanics are a bit janky and the perhaps the dangerous tiles could be made red, or some other more threatening color. Overall interesting and pretty fun submission.

Yep Same

Although the mechanic of ricocheting bullets is not new, its well executed and all the levels are fun in this game. The dead enemies could have some other effects on them because its a bit hard to tell them apart from alive enemies. Great job though, overall very fun entry.

Very clever mechanics, flipping many things from mario. However the gameplay still feels very much like mario, which doesn't make it very unconventional in that sense. The platforming mechanics feel great to use, but they are very similar to mario, which makes it more conventional in a way. That being said, I enjoyed myself thoroughly, great music, nostalgic art, lots of fun, awesome game.

Great idea and fantastic execution. The art, music, everything, is so polished, animations look great, and the game is very fun to play. One thing is the although the idea of a wizard having random spells is very unconventional, it ends up playing very conventionally. The randomization and weird spells don't make the gameplay that different from a conventional game. Regardless, it is still by far the most polished and well made game I have rated, wonderful job.

Perfect retro look and sound. Deflection aim was slightly hard, because of the spherical shape of the shield. Also as more and more enemies come in, aiming is less and less important, basically just using shield and moving randomly does pretty well later in the game since there are so many enemies. Still I would say fantastic job, and a great submission that follows the theme well.

Well made, basic platformer mechanics and movement work great. All the different ways the main mechanic is used is great. Good job!

Thanks for the feedback and thank you for playing!

In terms of the portal mechanic, what specifically do you recommend changing?

Pure speed and fun. Great submission. Love the use of colors and contrast, particle effects as well. One thing is the enemy bullets are a bit hard to see, because sometimes they are covered by an enemy or covered by the player bullet's particle effects. Overall fantastic job.

Really fun! Reminds me a lot of fireboy watergirl!

One small thing is controls feel a bit clunky at time, especially on webgl with the color switching buttons. I need to press it twice to get the button but sometimes I tick the button on then off instantly :)

That's probably just webgl being laggy though, so I don't have any real complaints, great game!

Perhaps only on the web version? Or maybe because I wasn’t clicking I’m exactly in the right direction? Not entirely sure.

Solid game, good puzzles!

Controls were a bit finicky, especially hypnotizing the guards. Are the guards supposed to have random subserviently / tough / unbreakable statuses? Because they seem to change a lot and its a bit annoying to wait for them to turn to subservient.

That's just a small nitpick though, overall wonderful game!

Good game, not very experimental or but I enjoyed it a lot.

The theme wasn't very strong in this game as it just replaced the end flag with lava but it was still fun.

Well done!

Solid across the board.

Great concept. A bit frustrating because there was no tutorial but still great job!

Wow, I'm blown away. The mood was so good.

Strictly judging as a game its not too much fun, but the world and the vibes I got were so immersive and great. If you have time I highly suggest expanding on this idea. Great job.

Really solid! I enjoyed it.

The movement is a bit clunky and slow but it serves its job and the puzzles were fun!

Also screen effects were polished and looked great!

Good job!

Not enough levels, but the concept is amazing!

Also I closed the door on top of myself a couple times and it made me stuck, that should count right :)
