Cute little game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Low Rez Jam games, if you would like to take a look :)

Developer

Hi ScorpyX, Thanks for the kind words and for playing :)

There should be sounds, if you look in the menu.

There is a chance that enabling it in one of our builds crashes the game, in which case, you can edit the options.json file and set the values to 'true'.

Really fun game - solid gameplay - love it --- just want little bit better graphic - maybe sounds - and more levels - still it super cool game (one of the best on jam) --- PS. found bug - get in can - hold "space" and press "down arrow" in same time - stably crash

Nice little game. When I saw the screenshot it reminded me of Gunpoint :)

Hi Adam!

Thank you for playing! We are hoping to add more realistic enemy AI behaviour, as well as hiding spots and techniques, but we were quite pushed for time.

Keep an eye out for more levels and other improvements in the future :)

I wish it was longer and had more different type of places to hide. Also the guard should be more aware when you once spot you. Or walk and find you when you saw you somewhere.

Developer

@Roh - Thanks! We're planning to keep working on it, making it bigger and better (as well as with a scrolling camera so that levels can be bigger than 64x64, even though the view remains small). The link to the music is on the game page, if you want to check it out :)
@JackOatley - I don't think I have anything to add to what Aviv already said, but thanks for playing :)

I think you could probably get rid of the interact button and reuse up/down as interact as well. The first time I died was because I was pressing up and down to try and jump into the bin. Also, when you die it's be a lot better to not have to start the whole game over again. But otherwise it's actually pretty solid, and I found it rather fun that I wish it did last a little longer. I would also mention the color choice, there's quite a large contrast between your game sprites and the background.

seems nice, is lacking animations and such, and maybe some levels. But i liked that there is a Meta-game (menu and such), and is seems like a concept that you can escalate to make a full game. The music was also nice. It seems that it could be a bigger game ^^

Developer

@Sausage: Thanks for playing!
The music is available from here, if you are interested: http://opengameart.org/content/bluebeat-01-loop-cy...

Sadly we ran out of time before adding animations.
Admittedly, adding a 'Mission Success' screen between each level is quite obnoxious. Our intention was that you'd be given a snippet of plot at the end of each level from the terminals that were hacked, so that screen kind of stands in where that would go.

Ah the music grabbed me straight up, reminiscent of Escape From New York which I love.

And the game.. a little like Nexus on the c64, which I also love. Some animations for the main character would have been nice. But even so, there's a lot to like with a good atmosphere.

Was the mission complete title, a bug or was it an objective complete marker?

Good job on this. Something worth taking further.

Gunpoint was one of our inspirations. Sadly we didn't have time to produce a lot of levels.

Thanks for playing!

Seems fun -- it's a tiny 64x64 Gunpoint, sorta! Really short, though; maybe more levels would be good.
