Was the resolution a challenge?
I love low-rez art, so not terribly much of a challenge as I already draw a lot!
What did you learn?
Nothing new here; Just re-making a game I created back in the 90s in GWBASIC.

I originally saw an iteration of this game from during the jam with only one level, so seeing the game completed with a logo and menu and even a boss is wonderful. There's a lot of charm to the basic movement, and the level design gives a lot of interesting geometry to use it in. The graphics are very nice and the sound design / music is some of the best in the jam in my opinion. I do wish there was a bit more time on your invulnerability frames though, especially on the stage with several blind falls.
The opening title crawl felt like it went on a little long without any visual stimulation. Otherwise I found the gameplay enjoyable and the graphics were well done.
The tank and environment looked really.
Shooting stuff was pretty fun though maybe a little repetitive without much challenge.
The movement was maybe a bit slow, and the tank a bit floaty.
I also died almost immediately on the second level cause I get stuck between the wall and an orb and couldn't move or attack it.
Lastly the music was nice, but a bit hard on the ears in my opinion and a bit repetitive.
The graphics are great, I liked the level of detail in the player character. The environment and music felt very retro. The gameplay was manageable but in the second level was a bit tricky mainly because of not knowing what you would drop into but once you learn the layout it gets a bit easier. A cool experience overall.
Fun game, i m not sure if there where more levels after death valley but i coudnt pass that one
First time when playing I think pilot can jump out from tank like Blaster Master but it can't.
Nice graphic, smooth control.
5, 5, 5, 5!
Nice fun little game. I love that you could jump on the roadrunners' backs.
That was a bug. But I left it in because I thought it was funny! I was going to make it a game-play element (gotta use a roadrunner to get over a hazard) but I'd need to have made some pathing for the roadrunner and just didn't have time to implement.
I apologize in advance for hijacking this comment but you are a very hard man to contact. I've actually been trying to contact you for 12 years to hire you for a project. I also have some news for you about the flash engine. I would would greatly appreciate a response.
i loved it, i beeen playing a lot of time, this game have a nice arta, a simple but adictive gameplay and a lot to give
Clearly a lot of Blaster Master and Mega Man influence here. This game captures the retro feel of the early NES era very effectively (and at even lower resolution). Those d*mn birds on the surface gave me flashbacks of the stupid demons in Ghosts and Goblins. Their path is quite frustrating. I had a lot of fun, but there is a bug with respawning once you get to the core. I seem to spawn off screen and couldn't get back into the boss room. Overall a really cool entry that definitely has mad nostalgic vibes all throughout it.
I was personally thinking of the eagles from Ninja Gaiden, but Ghosts and Goblins is another good source of frustration! Haha!
As for the bug: I might have pushed a version that left the override spawn (I used for testing) enabled. Hopefully it's fixed now; I will verify it later when I get a chance. Thanks for playing!
Just a great game overall. Controls are smooth and snappy, and gameplay is simple and fun. You barely notice that the game is so low-res. Great work!
Nice game, I like small things, like the rolling weels… good effect there. Strange you can land on the back of enemies (and don’t get hurt… but also don’t get carried…) Good job with that entry!
Good job on the animations here especially. I really like the sun and how you managed to make the wheels look like they're spinning smoothly with so few pixels. Good work!
Very nice! Already polished up. That's what I like to see. The tank is cute, and the animations make it even better. Decent AI. Good job!
Looks very promising so far. Love the art. Excellent use of what few pixels you have to work with and it's rather fun to boot!
