Really nice graphics! I included it in my LibGDX Jam compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :)

i apologize spacecat, i haven't checked this page in awhile so I didn't get back to you. I did not really try it out on a Mac, I just assumed it would work which was pretty stupid of me. sorry about that

The Mac version couldn't get past the opening screen. I'm running the latest version of Java.

Nice graphics and songs (love the character, high level pixel art animation). Space Hunter reminds me a few games I played as a child, without battles or action, only text and attributes. Well done!

Man, that soundtrack! I simply can't get enough of it! Especially the song when the ship lands in the city. The hip-hop sound reminded me of Samurai Champloo, A LOT! If those are original, great job!

While simple, the music and role-playing mechanics had me intrigued and glued to the game the whole time. At one point I managed to collect 100+ artifacts but forgot to save and died shortly due to greed.

Great job! I'm gonna have to hit up the nostalgia soundtrack!

Just downloaded it and from first looks i like it one of the best so far. Looks sophisticated, and is very complete. Well done.

Thanks jfsaaved, finally got it running I really liked it. I wanted to find out what happened next. It has a solid feel and the menus worked well. I like that you wrote the music too, it gave it a chilled out vibe to get hunting to.

I liked the idea. Took me a bit to get the hang of the menu system for actions and how it impacts the players stats. I liked the running pixel man as well ;)

Great graphics, loved the pixel art on this one

Hey miffy, consider running "java -jar space-hunter-fullscreen-mode.jar" instead of "java jar space-hunter-fullscreen.mode.jar". I made two small batch files for both fullscreen and window mode. Just execute the "run.bat" file.

For the selection bug you are getting, is your Java up to date? Also someone have mentioned before but if you have a different keyboard than the QWERTY layout, try the letter at the very bottom left (above the left alt key and to the right of the left shift key. It is originally Z on a QWERTY layout and Y on QWERTZ.

Probably something wrong my end but using the window mode I cannot get passed the start screen, I can flick between the options but not select.

The fullscreen jar gives this error

java jar space-hunter-fullscreen-mode.jar

Error: Could not find or load main class jar

People have obviously got it working so wondering if anything had changed?

I will try on my Windows machine later, currently on linux.

Thanks

Since it doesn't show the instructions here, the controls are:

Up or Down to select between options

Left or Right to move the hero

Z to select an option

Developer

thanks guys, i appreciate it, and i'll keep in mind the advice!

@nuke that is indeed the FF menu sound, good ears. i changed the pitch up and down to get two sounds from it.

Nice animations and music! This is another game where you search an artifact :) .. and is that the Final Fantasy menu sound?

The setting and mechanics are very promising, looking forward to visit more worlds and do new things!

You might want to display controls right away when you start the game, dumb people like me struggle on this kind of stuff :)
