Nice idea! The music is good! But I got lost and could not get back to where I spawned all the planets. Maybe some navigation axis might help, like a South arrow on the minimap.

Developer

Fun Fact: I actually had a navigation axis added before I crashed and had my UI controller reverted haha, ty for the compliments tho! I'm super happy with the song in particular, wrote it in 2 hrs and came out pretty nice

Really cool concept, I would love to see it developed further. I ran into a few bugs, you pointed out most of them, although I also ran into one stopping me from adding planets, when I pressed add planet it would go to the moon creation window. Fair enough though, this was a very big scope for one person for a week, and I really enjoyed it. Fits the theme nicely and I love the dragon animation, great job!

I actually had that bug for stars/planets, thought I fixed all 3 hitboxes but I guess not /shrug - it is what it is, I definitely could make it a lot more playable and content heavy if given time. Ty for the compliments!

Very cool game, I liked it. Movement was very clunky and I would make a map like view of the galaxy. better textures wouldn't hurt. I really appreciate Linux build.

Developer

So the linux build actually worked? I wasn't sure on that. Yeah movement was something I actually spent a while trying to tweak, and that was the best I could get given the scenario and the time. It was pretty difficult to get a sense of depth when there's literally nothing lol

I agree with spitfireFred there is a lot of potential. Movements are odd i think you can try to use something more usual in order to capitalise on players history. And there is bugs that forbide me to play it correctly but of what i have seen the idea is realy good and it's creative one. Good job.

Developer

Yeah I actually wanted to add a full info UI for history, stats and potential paths, but I had my UI controller get broken 24 hours before timer and had to get back to where I was instead of adding more. Movement is really good in some ways and really bad in others, particularly the strafing is bad, and the object moving bug on right click

No worry it happen. By the way it was a delivered game and i'm sure you learn a lot.
Also If you got a bit of time i would apreciate to get your feedback on my proposal. : https://itch.io/jam/kindred-community-jam-6/rate/989211

The game has a lot of potential. Feels like an early access build of something that could be good once it has received a lot more love. It was an ambitious idea for just 7 days and to have something working quite well! The music was cool, though some kind of sound effects would have been great! With some more time and tweaking this could've been something great! Keep up the good work

Developer(+1)

yea, if you would've seen my potential features list I barely scratched the surface haha, I probably could've condensed it down quite a bit, but I wanted to have something with a really wide open gameplay style, fitting the theme, cause there really is nothing, and you're the one who changes that

This was certainly interesting. The idea is .. im not sure because Im mot even sure if I got how the game works or what the core gameplay loop is supposed to be. Im just flying around , creating planets and leveling up but there is not really much that I would consider to be a challenge or a goal. But maybe thats what you where going for ? Not all games need to be designed to end and challenge the player and if you did shoot for a relaxing experience where you just create some stars and give them name and then fly around a bit it certainly is a success. The flying feels really good after you get used to it (if it doesn't do weird buggy stuff) and the music is also very nice. The only thing I think I could have done without is the minimap. Idk it seems kind of pointless to me.

But overall it is a cool , but weird game.

Developer(+1)

Yea the concept was really open, essentially you're the first being in the universe and you get to build it from your own energy, but you have to take from that universe to stay alive -- I wanted to add some more risk elements but time constraints and having to prioritize school stopped it. I would think of it as a more limited creative mode in minecraft if minecraft was in space

Submitted

yeah I get that. That was pretty ambitious idea. But I'm impressed by how much you got done.

Developer(+1)

With a bit of cleanup, I pretty much got the framework laid out to expand it into a pretty massive game but ya know time is a factor. I kept having to remind myself that I built it in a week while play testing and feeling slightly disappointed

Love the art direction in the game! Also jumped on this game because of seeing your progress in the discord. My biggest (and really only) issue with the game are the controls, which feel awkward, but otherwise it's really neat!

Developer(+1)

Yea the controls were hit and miss, it took a day and a half of tweaking to get them to where they were rn even. Also ty for the compliments on the art! This was my first time doing graphics in my own game so it means a lot

Love the dragon and the idea of planets. It fits the theme really well, the background audio is fine. Gameplay its a bit wonky at the moment (as you honestly said in the text). Solid game idea. Well done.

Developer

yea, there were a number of things I could've tweaked/fixed, but I was already up till 5am multiple nights fixing stuff and couldn't push anymore, it was just too much work not enough time

Super creative- I saw screenshots in the discord and came straight to this one.

Developer

Thank you!
