Nice game. I love seeing GB Studio, always blown away. The art and sound all give me lots of nostalgia. Again the art is just well done. I liked the little puzzle in the game and the story line behind the characters. I liked the ability to choose in the game that was really nice.
Well done. Enjoyed it
Loved the "relationships" spin on a theme. Wish there were more of the a story implemented in a game.
Till today I don't even know it's possible to make GameBoy games this easily now. Time sure changes a lot. The game sure feels authentic. The graphics are nice with a certain vibe to them, and they just add to that GameBoy charm. The game is a bit short, but I do like this kind of adventure RPG game from time to time. The story is a bit cryptic yet interesting. Nice work!
For some criticism, I'd say it's a bit hard to follow the narrative throughout the game. I guess the main reason is that you could redo parts of the game even after it's already done. For instance, you could play another card game with C5, you could start the generator again, and you could talk to C5 again after he left the cabin. It confuses me a bit, especially when I don't know what to do and blindly interact with anything. I somehow managed to get both the good and bad ends, so I guess things are not that bad. I would also think the first puzzle (password) is not that clear, and without backing out of the generator means restarting the game if you want to read the note again.
Anyway, I still think this is quite a nice game. Good job on making it!
This was a pretty cool Gameboy game! I really like the art of the houses and objects such as the generator! I think what this game needs most is to give more cues to the player on what exactly they need to do and how everything works. When you are typing the code, there's no indicator that you have to press 'enter', apart from it being in the game description. I think what you could do is state on the screen that you need to press 'enter' in order to guess. There also didn't seem to be a way to leave the generator screen upon entering it, so that is something that I would implement as well. Other things that would be beneficial would be to design the map in a way where it's easier for the player to navigate. One way I would do this would be to have some distinct objects or unique tree layouts in rooms, so that the player could tell where they are. Congrats on the submission!
interesting story XD
I managed to complete the game after looking for clues on the discord X"D
Maybe if there's a cancel button somewhere during the key input, it will be nice
thanks! yeah, sorry about that. I was in a rush to finish this, so there's a lot of bugs. 😅
Clever puzzle for the generator code!
I also like the lore you are starting to create, just need to make it polish out a bit more in gameplay.
I managed to get the good ending! Task failed successfully. :P
Few bugs & issues were found but I told all in the discord VC.
Hope you had fun in the Jam! :D
I wasn't able to get the generator code, maybe its a me problem but i wasn't able to...
so for the feedback i can give you for what i managed to play:
I wish there was a sound slider so i can control the volume a bit (not sure if you can put that in a game boy please tell me if you can) also i struggled to know the controllers i wish you had sayed them in game also the "Music" on the start is painful and very annoying....
it was annoying that i couldn't quit / wasn't told the key to press for quitting the engine password
From what i seen it looks really nice the visuals are really cool!
Interesting and hard game. Finding out the generator code was not an easy task without a few hints, but I managed to do that and reach the bad ending. You should probably put a few hints into the papers and also use memorable and diverse landmarks/objects to help players navigate the map. Also, I found it difficult to understand the map bounds; a few more trees would probably help the limits.
