Exactly as it says in the title. Reid walked to the right all the way into my heart.  It's a joke game (though a super elaborate one), so I never really know how to rate these.

I loved all the little things popping up on the map. There were some typos with the Roza&Albert dialogue, but otherwise no bugs that I could find.

DeveloperSubmitted

Aw I thought I proofed it pretty well. Do you remember what lines they were?

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

It was like 'Ney Reid' instead of 'Hey Reid'.  (Albert said that twice, so now I'm wondering if that's intentional)
Roza says something along the way of 'someone's gonna keep you in check' and I thought it should be 'gotta keep you in check'.
There also was either wrong punctuation/missing capitalization in Reid's first response after Roza and Albert's flirting.

Wow it was worse than I thought. Thanks for bringing them to my attention, I’ll brush them up within the next few days/weeks/months/etc :D

Hi, I am live with your game :D

DeveloperSubmitted

Aw man, I missed it–by like 7 days. :D I like how you found an (unintended) way to navigate the options menu, as the original intent was to just tease players with settings like the movement type setting (Right Only, 4-Dir, 8-Dir) which they can’t change (and if they could, it does nothing). The social status one affects which “chapter” plays though. Anyhow, was a fun watch, thanks for playing it!

Had no idea what to expect with this one, but it did not disappoint! I was cracking up from the second I realized I couldn't move to the right on the menu. I live for insane premises like this. Cool well-executed battles too. I mean, not exactly gameplay, but they were cool in how they were scripted and Priscilla was pretty badass, giving Ultimate Reid a run for his money.

The one thing that would have helped fulfill the premise is somehow having Reid only move to the right during combat. Would be a little weird but I can envision Reid jumping to attack, then jumping off screen to the right, then jumping from the right back into place. Would have been ridiculous and nonsensical but perhaps on theme.

I think this game is accidentally awesome. It's funny, it's easy to understand, and the gameplay is just right for a jam. Well done!

This was better than it had any right to be.

The joke obviously works well enough on its own, but the addition of small touches like that UI thing really elevated it for me.

The action sequences are actually pretty great, and the story isn't AMAZING but Reid's character development was at the very least amusing and pretty enjoyable to see!

DeveloperSubmitted

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I gotta say, it felt weird to actually portray Reid as a protag for once. :D

Ran like trash on my desktop so I had to break out the laptop. Excited to try this one nonetheless!

Overall: Simple with a hilarious story and gameplay gimmick; a quintessential Harold Jam entry.

Gameplay: Carried by the fact that you can only move to the right. Such a dumb but hilarious idea.  Battles in the later half felt kinda long considering you only do one thing though. This drags the rating down a bit.

Music: All RTP. Not bad.

Graphics: MZ RTP is eh but Absolute Destruction looked cool as hell.

Comedy: The game's strong suit. Being able to only move right with the obvious distractions all around you in other directions is hilarious. Loved the bits where you get sent back to the title screen too.

Story: More fleshed out than I expected!

Definitely agree about the battles. Michelle and Kasey/Eliot in particular should’ve probably had half the HP they did. Now when you say “ran like trash” were there any particular parts? And do MZ games generally run worse for you than MV games? Trying to isolate any bottlenecks, but I suspect effekseer animations.

Performance isn't a you thing; MZ games and some bigger MV games sometimes run really slow on my computer. Granted it's an 11 year old Windows 7 machine and I should really upgrade at some point.

DeveloperSubmitted

Aah okay, good to know–thanks! I’ve tried to make my stuff at least somewhat optimized and wanted to make sure something wasn’t choking unnecessarily.

Not as short but still sweet! Animations make up for the "attack spam" nature, and I'd say I was pretty invested in Reid's little journey.

It was okay, actually. I was expecting some major comedy moment or something from what I read on the Discord server and here, and even the game title itself when I first saw this got uploaded before the jam deadline  (and knowing Aesica's way of humor), and so I was surprisingly disappointed it was okay for me. Yes, it's funny and very creative, and even the kind of humor I'm "supposed" to love, but somehow it felt okay when I played it. T_T My favorite part is how Priscilla appeared like in battle; for some reason that really had a reaction out of me XDDD And the flirting in the battle with Rosa. :P

DeveloperSubmitted

Understandable, as everyone has different tastes in comedy. I do regret not giving Reid more interactions in the Roza “fight” though, since especially in the second round, he will probably get 2 actions before the fight ends instead of just one.

It was pretty alright.

Fun game, I like how every button is the right button

This right here is comedy gold.

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

“Right” here? I see what you did, and I approve!

I'm expecting this entry to score really high in comedy.  I said a while ago that your joke game premise has a lot of potential since it gives an opportunity to build a comedic rhythm. Then, you made really good use of that.

I sure hope you’re right!
