This one's really good! I like the gameplay but it's a little tricky. There's no good indication for when to hit or block, and even what seems like perfect timing often doesn't work. I feel like a system like this needs a lot of refinement, and controls need to be tight. Without clear indicators, it will probably be impossible for players to get it right. I thought there were blocking indicators, but timing with that ring power up often doesn't work for block either. I can usually get the first block to work, but the second block is completely unreliable.

Also, I would play a whole game about Gabbo and Gobbo, no joke.

Thanks for your kind words! The timings in this jam game were a little off indeed. If you pushed the button too soon it would sometimes register as a fail when it really shouldn't, but it was too late when I realized this to fix it ^^

Dungeon Rummage - Origins, the game from which I derived this system is not going to have this problem :D

A game about the goblin brothers huh? I mean I tmight happen one day...

Overall: Clear attention to detail on almost all fronts make this one of my favorite entries for this jam! A little on the long side but worth the playtime nonetheless.

Gameplay: Tried all three party members but ultimately went with Therese. Timing and blocking attacks made the battle system a lot more fun and essentially taking no damage throughout was a nice cherry on top. I always love on-map encounters, although it was pretty easy to avoid them even when noticed. Wasn't a big fan of the control scheme though so I remapped it to how RM games usually are. Much better on my fingers and less time moving my left hand all around the keyboard.

Definitely some issues though. I really wish there were a save prompt before the ascent or even in general. I didn't buy enough items or grind enough and I had to restart because autosave softlocked me in the mid-boss battle. The lack of AoE attacks as Therese was also a pain. I also noticed that some enemies live to a sliver of health after I land a few double-hit attacks on them. Would've like to see a slight nerf so they go down in an even number of blows and reward the player for executing those inputs right. I also feel like 8-directional movement would make gameplay a lot smoother.

Music: Music itself was pretty good but I'm bumping this up in terms of overall sound because of the ambience and especially the voice acting. All the voices were spot on. Didn't recognize the voice actors in the credits but they did a really good job!

Comedy: Good balance of serious and lighthearted and I liked the TBA silhouettes for overworld enemies. I also adore the goblin shop. Still in shock you actually included a Marsha cut take in the dialogue. Would've been really funny if you had another character play off that, like telling her to take her time or something. There's also Dragon Ball Z sounds which always get me.

Graphics: RTP and action sequences are nice and I love the ambient lighting. Unfortunately this did not play nice with my 11 year old desktop and it turned into huge white blobs that blocked the entire screen! We could be talking a completely different score if I didn't try my brother's laptop.

Story: Liked it. Thought it would end on a total throwaway ending for a second but I love how it wraps upl

Hi, playing your game live :D

Def a great game well put together, awesome experience. The Bone Knights were the best part of the Let’s Play! Harlekin LOVED when I played this. All in all, a great example of German Engineering!

If you didn't get to that final fight and listen to that super kickass tune (that the dev - DEFINITELY NOT THE COMPOSER - didn't loop properly) then you are really missing out on a core memory to your entire childhood. Right the wrongs, hear the tunes.

This one's pretty solid! Good voice acting, animations are nice, and I still think the goblins are very funny!

Of course, the gameplay wasn't really my speed, especially when the autosave sorta softlocked me into a fight I couldn't find because I didn't grind enough (better than the previous setup of having no saves at all!)

Still, not too shabby.

Yeaaahh... That one save spot is a little whack. Sadly ya can't do patches during the rating time haha.

Not a bad game! Would love to check out the paths of more characters. It's also great to see Low's Sprites used in all their glory, including that awesome final boss! Timed attack stuff with Marsha got a bit easier over time, and was overall enjoyable. I did feel like some battles were way slow. Waiting for 3 skeleton knights to clunk over to me and clunk back was often a test of patience, and I definitely wanted to be max level so I ended up fighting a lot of relatively repetitive battles.

I'm thinking the 1 v 4 battle could use a little better balancing as well, since I basically had to get lucky with what attacks were used against me to win with Marsha. Overall I really enjoyed this, and will add it to my "check out post jam" queue.

Ah yes, the calcium boys definitely were a bit on the slow side. And I aggree the 4v1 fight is a little tough on marsha, depending on what augments you got. (It's much easier with Therese, since she can block Lunesis and Moogs, Marsha is hard mode after all.)

It was a little tough balancing the game around 3 different playstyles at the same time, so I'm not really disagreeing with your asessment and the real game is probably gonna do a better job on the balancing part. Cheers my dude :D

You already know my thoughts on this project of yours, I have complimented you on this on several occasions. Congratulations again and I would like to see an expansion of this game even after the jam. A project that I will definitely follow in the future. Compliments

Alright! This was a super fun entry! Although I must admit, I had a hard time adjusting to the combat in the beginning, and well, I chose Marsha which was the highest difficulty, so I guess that's why I struggled a lot early on. xD :D

But I enjoyed the input-based combat, as it made battles more engaging and challenging! It felt satisfactory when I beat the first boss that I had to do a couple of runs on. The voice acting was superb! They fit well with the characters and tone of the game. Mapping and atmosphere were also on point! The usage of RTP assets was nicely done here, and it didn't feel like running thru a generic RTP game cause of how well the environment was done!

And omggg! I gush so much with the battle animations! From the char/enemy sprites, up to the action sequences and how they were delivered! I just loved it! The "Many!" spell was so satisfying to watch once you successfully hit the button inputs! I also enjoyed that skeleton walk sound when they attack, that was a neat little detail. xD

Story also has a nice little twist, so it was very fun to follow. Overall, this was an amazing experience, and congratulations to the developer for completing a very fun, polished, and great entry for this jam! <3 :D

With that said, I'll probably go back and try out Therese and Lucius! ;) <3

Awesome! Glad you had such a great time with it and thanks for your kind words! The inputs are still a tiny bit wonky as I've realized when there was no more time to fix it. The inputs are timed for more "slow" people and fail if you press the button too fast.

Essentially if you timed it just perfect, the input would actually fail, so if you fall under the people who have good reflexes, you may have a better time with the inputs if you just went a little slower on purpose. :D

Oh I see! No wonder I failed on my first few tries cus I thought I shuda button mash xD But thankfully, I did realize they were a lot easier to go slow and wait a bit for that animation to show up. But yah! I was really fun! <3 Great job again! ^_^
