A good simple game, where I could spend hours on it. Good choice of music stimulating to do better and faster. maybe I would have liked that scale of the game maybe bigger, the game gets confusing as you go deep in.
Cool!

Really original idea.
Feels like that once office episode.
I don't have anything negative to say about the game except that it was too small even in full screen.
Interesting VS-clone! The concept of VHS and DVDs is hilarious and was what sold it for me! The graphics are simple, but good enough. I wish there was more resolution consistency, as it felt a bit tiny. Great entry, regardless!
Its an Impressive game, it has good sound and graphics, though I was a bit difficult because of the small size or low zoom of the “arena“. But the game was fun and made me want to find all possible upgrades, as I wasn’t ever sure that I had seen them all. Great game and very impressive for the given time. Good work!
One of my favorites so far!
I love the visual style, it’s just a bit unfortunate that it doesn’t scale properly. I bet the chaos would look even better if it was full screen! Banger music, and great sfx too.
Upgrades are varied and interesting, with a couple of unique ones that I longed for every time I had to start over — namely dash, and the one that turns incoming enemies into experience. There’s a nice amount of challenge, and the boss really elevates the game.
Others have already commented about the XP bug, but there seems to be a similar bug with max health. The UI shows 3 hearts when restarting, but it seems like the max health and heart spawning still carries over. I also found a bug where holding the up/down arrow keys will adjust the audio after clicking on an audio slider, until clicking somewhere else to unfocus the slider.
Anyway, great job on this hilarious concept, and stellar execution!
Ah! Another stat increase bug that I missed! Good catch, it will be patched in the post-jam update :)
You are describing my personal favorite build - Blue-Ray + Dash and max movement speed is greedy but can lead to a very broken build by late-game.
Very happy that you enjoyed it despite the bugs, if you want to mitigate the effect of bugs, refreshing the game instead of clicking restart will work, as the bug is caused by select global variables not being reset in my reset script (I forgot to add a couple)
Cheers!
Great game! Didn't expect there to be a game based on the DVD Screensaver, that was pretty creative! Didn't expect the Online Streaming Platform to show up at the end either, that was pretty funny
Found this one pretty addicting. Ended up beating it on my fourth go and immediately going into endless mode. Kept playing until DVD reached a nice cinematic 1FPS, and I'd do it again! Great job!
One thing I did notice that I wasn't sure if it was intentional or not: at some point during my third run it stopped letting me pick increased XP gain on level up. Like if the option showed I could click it and a sound effect would play but nothing happened. I'm wondering if the XP gain upgrades persisted between runs or something, early levels in my fourth run did seem pretty quick.
Enjoyed the variety of upgrades here, lots to choose from and fun trying them out. Did notice that if you have a controller plugged in it just wouldn't register keyboard controls, and for whatever reason moving diagonally with a controller just made me move slower than everything else. Outside of that had fun with this game great, loved the art and music. Great job!
The game was really addicting, I kept wanting to play for another round! My biggest complaint is that the characters are so small that it's hard to really see any clear visual detail. I'd really love to see an option to zoom in or increase the size of the characters/screen.
This game it's addictive hahahaha
I beat it in the third try, but there are moments where I lose my little guy. Beside that, I loved the minimal art. Congrats!
I loved your game! The upgrades and the concept are amazing!
I had some difficulty to play because the size of the game elements didn't increase on fullscreen but I loved the graphics
I did not expect so much variety of upgrades based on the simple premise. Got pretty into it - about the only thing I'd change is increase the default movement speed a little bit (but I'm one of those people that will pick speed upgrades over almost anything else, so take that with a grain of salt), other than that, it's a game that is exactly what it wants to be. Well done!
I assume you were inspired by Tiny Rogues/Survivor-likes? I loved the theme of DVD vs. VHS/Streaming, and overall the art and audio was very clean. Perhaps a slightly larger resolution would've been nice as I lost my player a couple of times through my runs, but nonetheless had a lot of fun.
This game was really fun! I love the concept of DVDs vs VHS, and the online streaming platform boss was so good haha. The graphics fit nicely as well, simple, but effective.
I like to imagine you've been dreaming about how to use the bouncing DVD screensaver for years, and you finally found the perfect use! The game was awkwardly small, and also the music volume would reset after an upgrade, I was trying to better hear the other audio cues. Surprisingly easy to get sucked in, took 3 tries to beat it, great work!

Loved it. Balanced well enough to be fun for a jam, and really engaging while playing. I was getting into it. Some upgrades are clearly better than others - but I like that most upgrades have a significant impact on the game. Great job! Congratulations on the submission.
I thought I was terrible at this game because I thought the wasd and arrow keys would move. Once I just started using wasd, got it.
Fun little game, and I like the music. Dvd's vs VHS!
