Thank you for the feedback! I see what you mean, I will have a better scaled version up in a minute.

I think the layout was a pretty neat way of changing control over the top/bottom screen. It felt like if the camera was zoomed out a bit I could see what I was doing a bit better though :)

I will wait until after the voting period and make a separate version I think

A close friend of mine made the music in the last hour of the jam, massive shout out to Matt for that  :D

I have a post-jam update that addresses these issues in case you want to play with more visual clarity with a scaling fix and more player highlighting.

Thank you for playing!

Thank you for playing! I am sorry about the scaling issue, though it will only exist in the jam version!

Really well done for a first game! Only thing I would personally change is the pace of taking a turn but as it is now is highly tactical which is not at all a bad thing :) I also love the upgrade system and ability to configure the ships as you like.

Here are some random ideas that I had while playing that have absolutely no consideration for game balance:

  • Mirror-breaking flak cannons
  • fog-of-war
  • disco-ball asteroid
  • destructible "hull armor" blocks

Cheers, and great job on the game jam!

I really like the title art that was made for this game and seeing the word Landsknecht really brought me back to my civ 5 days :D From a non-platformer player's perspective, having to jump onto moving platforms that aren't within the camera felt a bit janky but I think you pulled off playing 2 separate platformers at the same time well.

GJ!

I think I am terrible at puzzle games, I can't figure out how to get past the first stage lol

Is there a way to gain bonus movements so I can reach the door somehow?

I like the blend of 2D and 3D graphics that you chose, and the character models stood out to me :)

GJ on the jam!

Very valid, I am experimenting with some different resolutions and scaling for a post-jam version :)

Thank you for the feedback!

Thank you for playing! I am happy to hear that the graphics felt good! It allowed for more effort into gameplay :)

Yeah that's a fair point, the VHS catch up to your base movement speed pretty quickly so maybe I'll increase that. Thank you for the feedback!

I also tend to play for max movement speed so the blue-ray build is pretty fun if you got that upgrade option :)

Good catch, I will fix this bug post jam!

Thank you for playing and I am glad you enjoyed the game despite the bugs :D

Thank you! I am happy you enjoyed it :)

Great idea to add to a older classic game! The SFX are great and the upgrades to the score multiplier feel well designed :)

I played for a lot longer than I was anticipating haha, great job :)

The last level was tough to get correct! Great use of the theme and controls, though I would have appreciated a way to rotate objects in the opposite direction in order to correct my mistakes when I rotate too far :)

Cheers and GJ on the jam!

Very satisfying shooting audio :) I couldn't make it past the wall of enemies, there were too many! I tried aiming the submarine torpedoes with my mouse but they were only going straight ahead, not sure if this is a bug or not?

GJ on the Jam!

Ah! Another stat increase bug that I missed! Good catch, it will be patched in the post-jam update :)

You are describing my personal favorite build - Blue-Ray + Dash and max movement speed is greedy but can lead to a very broken build by late-game.

Very happy that you enjoyed it despite the bugs, if you want to mitigate the effect of bugs, refreshing the game instead of clicking restart will work, as the bug is caused by select global variables not being reset in my reset script (I forgot to add a couple)

Cheers!

Nice! the intended purpose of endless mode lol

Dang! Nice catch, it was the latest ability stored in an autoload and I forgot to include a reset for it. Enjoy the free XP :D

(1 edit)

Yay! That is the goal haha

I'm super glad to hear it is being beaten, I struggle at winning and I've played it probably 50+ times.

Cheers!

I'll try to make some better options for visual clarity/scaling in a post-jam version :)

Ah yes I left in some controller bindings that I was testing out and abandoned. In a post-jam version I will fix these controls but they are not fully functional. Glad you enjoyed the game :)

Great use of reflection to disorient players in a spike maze :D

Great use of reflection to disorient players in a spike maze :D

I love me some good bullet-hell! We had similar ideas with the reflections theme :)

I think it would be nice if the bullets were paused while choosing an upgrade but I can see leaving it the way it is for difficulty.

Great job!! :)

Excellent graphics and Audio! I love seeing a well polished 1-bit game :D

Loved it! the 15 challenges really fly by fast as the game is very satisfying and enjoyable! I personally really liked the SFX as well. This may be the highest rating I have given in a jam haha, cheers

Haha I love the twist! Great idea and I really liked the duration for telling a quick story in a jam :)

Also very satisfying dialogue audio

Yeah it was still queuing up player moves as well but would skip past them as both of my characters were dead. I don't fully remember which level it was but I did previously revive when it happened. Sorry I can't remember the exact level :(

Yes! The Tiny Rogues visual style is something I have been wanting to try since I first played it. I am very happy that you noticed :D

Sorry about the audio bug! I have the fix ready but have to see if it's accepted for jam. I have been looking for a good use for DVD screensaver for a while hahahah

Glad you enjoyed :)

Pretty cool use of reflection mechanics, I like the idea of colored reflectors only reflecting their own color as it is based in reality as well!

Pretty cool concept, my favorite part is the revive mechanic, it is a cool how it combos with damaging enemies! I encountered an infinite move loop when I had 2 characters die so I got a bit stuck but I really enjoyed it :)

Great implementation of the theme and made for a unique puzzler experience! I laughed at the ending, great job :)

Well done :) I really liked your SFX and implementation of the theme! The added distractions such as the train were a very nice touch. GJ!!!

Nicely done! I love the art and sfx and the UI displays text very cleanly. I wish the game was longer so I would have more time to use the fun abilities! They are all so unique and interesting to change your playstyle :)

The art and audio are top quality! I am finding it impossible to catch fish without running out of fuel, most days the first fish I encounter is outside of my fuel range to make it back to the market after a single fish catch.

Did you perhaps start the game and immediately started turning? One of the bugs is at the start, your speed is zero and you won't accelerate  while turning, so your speed will be SUPER SLOW until you build up some speed by driving  straight. Other than that I want you to have a good motivation to upgrade :)

Thank you for mowing the lawn!

Cheers

Thank you for the feedback! I would have liked to add some extra audio queues, later game upgrades and some more effects to the ant waves in general but pretty much all of that was done in the last 24h and I ran out of time (future update perhaps).

For the rigid driving experience I am not sure what you mean by this, is it the turning? I do not want players to have control over their speed which is why there is no key to accelerate/decelerate but perhaps adding a system for drifting on turns could be fun.

Thank you for mowing the lawn! :)

excellent floppy fish LOL

First thing my buddy did when he played this game was make a less wholesome drawing...

played and rated! This was a good one :)
