75.91 for my time !
Nice entry ! Sometimes controls are a bit tricky or maybe it's the colision area that is "big" but after dying I was dying a second (or third time) directly but maybe it's me ! Anyway, nice little game ! :)

Suprisingly fun for a rage platformer!

Seeing the eyes int he dark is a nice touch.

Great job!

Ooo I love the concept and the art for it! The little eye movement of the character is a lovely touch! The screen transitions, animated background and clicking sfx for the light toggle are all very nice as well. I find it a tad strange that the jump is not counted in the light toggle, feels like it could / should? I like that you can still see the eyes and door in the scene as a frame of reference. I personally think that using an orthographic camera might be better so its easier to estimate the position of the jumps, though it works ok as is.

A wonderful game overall, great work!

Thank you sooooo much, now that you said it, I don't know why I didn't make it so that when you jump the lights go off

Great Puzzle Platformer - With more levels I could easily see myself Wishlisting this on Steam or similar

PROS:

  • Great art
  • Adorable music fitting to the game
  • Intuitive controls

Critiques:

  • Having SFX Slider preview for Common SFX Sounds
  • Consider Hiding mouse in full screen or when the game has mouse focus to prevent cheesing
  • Jump seemed a little sticky at times... Non-responsive
  • ESC in browser takes out of fullscreen before main menu
  • Some way to pause, while still blacking out the map

Other Considerations (Things noted in stream):

  • More levels
  • Maybe a death counter to see how good (or bad) you did
  • More neutral colors for light/dark so it is not so harsh?

Thank you so much for the feedback and playing it on stream!! I'll add those things once the jam is over

I really enjoy to play this one! i like the gameplay and the idea with the light shut of at the moment you start to move. I also like the graphic, my only critic here is that the outlines are different from object to object, but thats just a little thing. Great work! GG

Super fun! I would say it might benefit from a seizure warning.

I suck at platformers but I really liked the idea for this one. I got a time of 76 seconds... though it kept changing when switching between browser tabs :).

Really cool idea.

Hey, this is a really interesting take on the theme of light and darkness!

I found the mechanics smooth and fun, I finished the game in 91 seconds, and I wish there were more levels!

Congrats on the game, it's a solid entry! 🎉

Good use of the theme, great visuals and sound design. I loved the UI and the fact that the game is short and polished. Overall, very good :)

I have two quick to implement tips if you plan on doing a platformer again:

1. Some coyote timing (jump still registering even a little after stepping out of a ledge) is always going to be very welcome, especially in games with precision jumping, and;

2. Jump buffering (storing jump inputs, for example a little before landing) to make the game feel more responsive

Developer(+1)

I have those two things but they were implemented in a rush, none the less I'll improve on that thanks for the feedback

Having to judge jump distance with the lights off was a lot more fun than I thought it'd be. I can definitely see this concept being a full game.

I enjoyed this! Took me about 2 minutes to finish. I had an issue feeling like my jump was lost on the last level (I think, the one with small jumps ups then down with spikes on the top platform). Other than that the controls and overall game felt really clean. It would be nice to see a few more levels and mechanics added!

Very polished fun little game! I liked the idea and execution. Good job!

Very cool idea! I hope you add more levels in the future.

Cheers!

Love the concept. Some levels where harder than others, but all were very doable.

I liked the art style and gameplay. Nicely done

The platforming controls were very smooth and the game plays well without any issues, but as others have said the flashing is a bit extreme. Great first entry!

I found the mechanic of the screen turning black when you move very creative, made it challenging in some parts but still fun. Very good submission

Congratulations on your first wild jam game! I really enjoyed it though I wish there was more content. It took me 65 seconds to beat the game.

Developer(+1)

I wanted to add more levels its just that I was out of ideas and making one level took a lot of time. Thanks for the post

What a great idea! I can tell you put a lot of care into the platformer feel and controls. Using the main menu as a playable “level” is such a fun and clever way to let players test out the mechanics right from the start.

One small suggestion: it might be worth adding a super short delay or quick transition when the light turns off. The flashing got a little jarring in a dark room lol.

Thank you so much, I will put that into consideration

Nice game, well done!
