Game Description
Roguelite survivor card game. Prevent damage and earn XP to progress among levels.

How does your game tie into the theme?
I didn't want to use "light and dark" as working with Ligth2D/3D so I decided to fit the theme by having two opposites. The light side/card that allows you to prevent damage and earn XP and the dark side/card that you deals damage.

Nice, cool to see a card/board game type of submission. I think the mechanic is interesting but could use a little bit more depth... Maybe I just didn't get enough bonuses to see the variety though. Nice work!

Developer

Totally agree. I run out of time to implements more bonuses so there's only the basics one but we can imagine a lot more indeed

Very interesting mechanics!

I liked the idea of the game, it's a genre that's not so common to see in game jams. 🃏

I found it a bit difficult to understand the logic, at times I accepted that I would take damage and focused on gaining XP.

Congratulations on the game, very interesting entry! 🎉

Yes this is the only "simple" solution I found to loose HP, otherwise it was toooo esay.

Thanks for the review ! 🙌

Fun little game. Wasn't sure how to prevent damage when there where 2 ducks in a row, but I guess that's the point since otherwise it would be too easy to always prevent damage. Liked that you could upgrade when you died.

Developer (1 edit)

Yes of course, without that well.. you never loose HP, or it means duck are hogher value than light card but then you loose too much HP. Balancing is quite difficult ^^'

Thanks for playing and the review !

I see you also did a tile based strategy type game! Nice work, I had fun playing this :)

Developer

Yup, but yours seems better as it seems it relies less on randomness than mine haha

I like the idea of the gameplay, but sometimes (when i had 2 ducks in a row) i was not sure how to avoid to get damage, as i was not able to place 2 cards to eliminate the ducks in this row. Overall it was fun to play!

Developer(+1)

Hi thanks for your words ! Yeah this is the only way I found to deqls dq;qge to plqyer otherwise it's too easy to survive but yeah, it's really need more balancing !

I don't think I really knew what I was doing most of the time (which is more of a me problem) but it was still interesting and well presented!

Thanks for the review ! Did you read the in-game tutorial ? If yes, was it because it's not enough clear ?

Submitted(+1)

I did read the tutorial, though I probably did it a bit too quickly, only grasping the scoring at surface level and not thinking so much about strategies, so that's just on me really! But I still mostly figured things out on the go, placing cards around and seeing what'd happen.

Developer(+1)

Okay' thanks ! I think the tutorial needs more clarity and had to be shorter as well, at least, a little. Maybe I need also to add more strategic interest too it couldn't be only you =P

This had great art and music! The tutorial was good and made me feel like I had a good grasp of how to play. I like the fact that you can upgrade when you die and I had a good experience even though I don’t normally enjoy playing this kind of game.

Developer

Thanks for sharing your feeling :) happy to read that it was not a pain to play if this is not your kind of game !
