A fine chill game. And the map is huge. Almost got the last gear box, but I managed to fall down a crater :S
The only thing that I didn't like was the constant sound crackle... though no one else mentioned it so it might just be my sound card being silly :/
Thank you for playing the game! :)
The constant sound crackle is a mystery to me. It is some artifact of HTML5 builds that occurs on some machines and not others. I have no sound issues on my box, but on a lower powered laptop I got constant crackling.
This was a joy to play. Huge map! Loved it
Thank you so much!
Fun exploration game! I was glad this ran pretty smoothly. The webGL 3D games have a tendency to crash on me here.
Yay! I escaped in 13:15 ^^
Nice game. I just suggest a counter to the cogs (that I don't undestand until the end) and a speedometer for fun hahaha I really liked the sound of the engine changing depending of the speed.
08:35 on the second try :v
Wow thank you for plaything through twice! I didn't include a cog counter because I was trying to imply that you could only carry one, but maybe I should have kept it up there and had '0/1' and '1/1'. That would have been clearer. A speedometer would have been really cool. That's a great idea! I'm glad you like the engine sound! I just changed the pitch based on the speed. :)
By 'cog counter' I mean like 0/4 so you know you need to collect them and how many are there. They catch the eye on the minimap, but at first I only saw one, the others were a little overshadowed by minerals. I was thinking they would serve to update the rover, like the last update or something. Only at the end did I understand that they were used to fix the ship and get off the moon. But that would just be a small indicator for the player, the game is already great the way it is. :)
Cool little exploration game, awesome that you generated terrain from the real moon height data !
Thank you! :)
Cool game, for a 3D game, I was surprised there were no performance issue playing on the browser and you did it in a short time too. Good job!
Oh I'm so glad it ran smoothly for you! Thank you for playing it. :)
I loved it, I can't believe that its made in godot in such a short time(of course my game has done awful)
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
The “feel” of driving around was pretty solid and it’s extra cool that you used real height map data from the moon. Nice job!
Thank you!! I spent a long time tweaking those settings to try to get the driving to feel good. For a while I had really low gravity so that it would feel more moon like, but it just made the driving frustrating, so I ended up trading away a little realism so that the driving would feel better. Thanks for playing it! :)
Bold of you to make a 3D game in a short time. This game remembers me the first PC games I played. Nice job. I couldn’t finish because everything is too far and everytime my power/oxygen ran out and I had to start over.
Thanks for giving it a try! Were you able to get any upgrades? I didn't have time for any tutorialization, so I was just hoping people would notice the text in the green area for the upgrade shop.
I like this type of game! Also adding to other comments, it runs with low FPS in my browser but without any real issues, it plays fine. Really fun!
Thanks for playing it! Too bad about the FPS, but glad it worked well otherwise. Normally I periodically test my games out on a lower powered device throughout the week, but as I mentioned in other comments, I only had half the week this time around.
So glad you were still able to find the game enjoyable!
Even though this game is 3D and I played it in the browser, I had no performance issues and it looked good too. I’m pretty impressed!
The gameplay was simple and easy to understand, but nevertheless pretty addicting. I couldn’t stop playing until I finally escaped the moon on my third run.
I would also say that there are only a few bugs. One time when I had too much velocity on the y-axis I clipped through the ground, but that was the only bug I was able to spot.
So all in all a great jam submission!
So glad you were able to play without performance issues! It also runs without issue on my machine, but some of my friends/family had issues. I'm also glad you got to the end!
I found a few bugs too but I was unable to fix them in time. I wasn't able to start until Wednesday due to vacation, so I had to sacrifice quite a bit of polish. Thankfully the game is playable and beatable. 😅
Thank you for playing it! :)
Looks really cool, but it doesn't run well in the browser for me, to the point where I can't really control the car. Could you provide a download perhaps? I'll hold off on rating..
Ahh bummer! I slipped this time in the performance category! Wasn't able to start working until halfway through the week due to vacation so it was a bit of a scramble.
I'll see if the jam organizers will let me upload some downloadable builds. I'm not sure I'll be able to provide Linux or Mac builds as I don't have access to Linux or Mac.
So I gave it a go in another browser on another monitor and it was a little more responsive.
I like the crisp shadows, as I would imagine they would be on a place with no atmosphere. Controls were still a little tough for me, but I made it much further, and most enjoyed the "race track" like portions. Oh, and the map is huge! (might affect performance?)
Congrats on another 3d browser based GWJ game! Haha..
Oh thanks for giving it another go! I reached out to the organizers about uploading a Windows build, but haven't heard back. The surface is huge and I had way too many collision shapes! I broke up the surface into chunks with hopes of dynamically enabling and disabling, but ran out of time. I was able to use real moon heightmap data to generate it though, so that's pretty cool!
I'm glad you enjoyed the tracks! They are much more fun than driving on a bumpy moon! 😅
"I was able to use real moon heightmap data to generate it though, so that's pretty cool!" -- oh that's cool, you should definitely have let the player know that!
