The game itself is difficult to figure out, but when you learn the mechanics the real fun begins. The visuals are pretty cool! Art style is very cute. Overall really nice game.

It's a entertaining game but I just couldn't figure out how to place structures. I managed to place one on accident and didn't figure it out again. I just ended up only shooting.

I love the art style! I couldn't quite work out how to place/clear things using the build menu. Apparently I managed to build 4 of them though. The sound effects fit the visuals nicely. I will have to give this another go I think.

I absolutely loved the mood in this game. The background environment, for me, was so lovely and subtly done that I seemed to constantly notice something new just kinda floating there in the back drop! Beautiful work in that regard.

The game itself was also quite fun. Seems to lull one into a false sense of security and, before you know it, you’re over run!. The mechanics were solid and over all the game felt fun to play… to a point.

The enemies keep coming, and that’s fine, that’s the game, but when they finally come crashing down, they crack(?) the ground. Again, this is fine, but they break through sooooo slowly! Now, I suppose it sounds funny that it takes forever to actually loose, but there got to a point for me where there were so many cracks and debris from broken equipment that I no longer had room to build and was just getting overwhelmed, but my “core” was still perfectly fine and there was no indication that I was actually close to an actual fail state. At least if I failed I’d be able to start fresh without having to restart the game… It’s possible I just missed this, but I don’t think so.

Other minor squibbles for me… I hated Right mouse clicking on the menu items. I had no issue right clicking to bring up the menu, but right clicking to select an item goes so against the standard UI training I have… I kept left clicking to select an item and either didn’t notice, or I did and was frustrated because now I had to go back to attacking the aliens.

The last minor issue… or, maybe a little more major… when my equipment breaks, I cannot clear it. There’s a “clear” option in the menu, but I couldn’t seem to bring up the menu when I right clicked on any of my broken equipment, so, once the equipment broke, I lost that location permanently. If that’s how the game is supposed to work, that’s fine, but it makes the clear option seem out of place to me. It’s like a tease for something I cannot have.

Over all, wonderful game!! Excellent work!!

The game was quite fun, but without a native build playing it was a bit unenjoyable. It was also hard to read any text in the game due to the aliasing and small size. Ignoring that though, it was really good!

Loved the graphics. The game loop was fun too! I felt the build menu was a bit too small for my eyes, though. The audio was really nice too. Good job!

Really beautiful graphics!

Somehow after a while the core stopped collecting lumps after 3 where in the storage, which meant I couldn't build anything. Is this a bug or did I do something wrong?

Well done all in all!

it took a a few minutes but I understood via the tutorial what to do. when in full screen it looks great! I really enjoyed the game. shot 1400 or so times before the core was finally destroyed.

Nice idea but I had difficulty with the building part too.

Developer

Hey Thanks for your comment, I redid the game page with tutorials gifs if you want to try again :)

I also couldn't work out the building part of the game. The text was quite aliased for me. Shooting the enemies was satisfying though. Visually it is great too, really nice glow and shadows, and I especially like the moving sun casting shadows of the enemies!

Developer

Hello and thank you for your comment, the aliased text gets better with fullscreen browser window then f11 to full screen the game, i’m glad you enjoyed it, also I redid the game page with tutorials gifs to try and clarify building

this is a pretty game but i'm not sure what the end goal here is

i'm not sure i properly understood the buildings part of the game. i think it would've helped to have visual indicators of how many resources you had, how much health your core had, etc. but i still managed to have fun with it for a while before it exploded!

great jam game! and welcome to gwj! :)

so i played again after you added the instructions, and actually lasted a bit longer and had quite some fun!

at its peak, this was definitely difficult for my pc, the frame rate going down significantly haha. and then i eventually just let it there to see how long my turrets would last.

oh! and i really liked the planets and suns/moons going by in the distance, the whole atmosphere of the game was really well put together! :)
