Loved the exploration and the multiple things to do. Great job! Congrats to the team, you can be proud.

As others have said this is a great puzzle game! The only criticisms I can come up with is that the pixel art is not all of the same resolution, and the background parallax is a bit disorientating. Also, the music is really nice. Nice work :) Oh also, nice job submitting 51 seconds before the deadline ;)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I really appreciate the feedback.

Yeah, was our first crack at an adventure/platformer type thing, so implementing some of the assets to cover rooms of variable sizes and such probably made the resolutions line up a little wonky. Definitely something I'll have to research more on how to do well. I agree the parallax was a little aggressive. It is technically following the camera, but the camera snaps so sharply to the player they are functionally the same, I'll have to play around with some more margins on the camera and less aggressive parallax ratios.

Also, way to call me out on the submission time... ๐Ÿ˜…

I had a lot of fun with this chill puzzle game!  The ambiance of the game is really well done (all the pixel art is beautiful), and putting the plugs in the right outlets was very satisfying.  Randomizing the weapon lab code was a nice touch (I initially thought I would be able to cheese it by inputting the same color code I figured out before I died - but you got me, haha!).  Your take on the theme is refreshing, reminding us that "ancient" is all relative to the perspective of the viewer.  Great work on this one!

Developer

Thank you for all the kindness :D

I had a infuriating totally delightful time messing with the cable physics, but I am also very happy with how the cables and plugs turned out!

And thanks for noticing the codes! I figured some people might try to cheese it ;)

A nice puzzle game!  I liked the graphics and the soothing music.  My character did manage to get stuck in walls a couple of times, but over all a lot of fun!

Neat pixel art graphic :)
I like how you extended the platformer genre with some sort of puzzeling.

Submitted(+2)

That was fun.  Neat puzzle designs and unique style.  I like how the little guy was just happy to be there.  I'm like "can you get that plug for me?".

Developer(+1)

Hahaha, glad you like him! :D

He had originally been intended for some other features/mechanics, but that got cut when we were scoping down to finish on time. But he was too darn cute to just remove entirely, so he's just your little adventuring buddy now ๐Ÿ˜…

A beautiful visualized game.  Having played a lot of platformers like Hollow Knight, Blasphemous etc. it's nice to experience a more laid back, less "everything wants to murder you" style platformer (though still with a little threat here and there)
I'm in awe of the artwork. I agree with others that the background moving with the player rather than the camera was a little jarring sometimes, but the background and environment as a whole was beautifully crafted. I felt like there were a few elements that, visually, didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the content. I liked that most of the puzzle elements blended quite seamlessly into the setting and enjoyed the puzzle mechanics as a whole.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing the game, and your review!

As someone who gets a bit overwhelmed with the "Everything wants to murder you" style of platformers (Except a few things) we wanted it to be more about the exploration and the destination.

I really appreciate your kind words about the graphics! It was a lot of fun being able to play around with pixel art, create my own assets, and animate sprites for the first time!
Unfortunately due to time I missed a few objects I needed to update, however, I hope to go back in and update those after the game jam is over!  Till then, I hope you enjoyed Greenrose's programmer art haha!

couldn't work out what to do, and then i got stuck to the left of the crash site. Looks great though. If you let me know what i'm supposed to do to get going, I'll give it another play.

Edit1:
Dw, got it to work, idk what happened by the first few times i tried to "use", it just didn't do anything. Maybe i wasn't lined up correctly...

Edit2:

Looks and sounds great. The parallax background was nice, but i think it should only move when the camera moves, not whenever the player moves? It made me feel a motion sick. I enjoyed playing it, even though puzzle games aren't really my thing. It felt like you had a unique mechanic.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for persevering with it! ๐Ÿ˜…

The first little area is a little obtuse for sure. I had wanted to have a little bit of a tutorial system, but I wasn't able to get around to implementing it, so there are definitely a couple sections which are more confusing than I had intended.

If anyone else gets stuck in that area, you just have to grab the blue power cell that's laying by the ship and use it on the power box by the building to the right. That will open the door and let you proceed.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I'll definitely keep that in mind with the parallax in the future. It could definitely use some fine tuning.

Sometimes you play a game and you think: "This is the winner, right here"

This was it

Developer

Wow! Thank you so much for the praise!

I'm incredibly honored that you enjoyed it so much!

gorgeous artwork, and some really clever puzzle design. Loved it

Developer

Thank you for the compliments about the artwork, and happy to hear you enjoyed the game!

Such a fun game!

Really enjoy the art work, I'd love to see a full game in this style. The puzzles were really fun too, and how cool were those wires. All round, really well executed.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind words! @Zuraniix really crushed it with sprites and environments!

And thanks for playing it on stream! I just checked out your VoD, it was incredibly insightful to watch someone play it through for their first time ๐Ÿ˜…

Pretty well rounded and executed, also the graphics were so good.

Submitted(+2)

Pretty cool, I like the spin on "ancient" and the mechanics of plugging and unplugging things. The art is also worth mentioning as being very good, specially for such a short timeframe!

I like the fact that you thought to set it in the "future".  The computers/terminal in the spike room tripped me up a little because I didn't realize it that it had worked (the other computers to that point displayed a message when I interacted with them but this one didn't)

Developer

Thanks for taking the time to play our game! We thought it was a fun spin on the theme to run with!

Yes, sorry for that! ๐Ÿ˜… I missed updating that terminal on the last minute polish pass...
