Game Description
A point & click adventure game to save a planet's dying star.

How does your game tie into the theme?
The light you see from stars is ancient (especially if the stars are super far away), which is why we picked this theme for our game. Point & click adventure games are also an old genre of game.

I really liked this! I enjoyed exploring the different areas and figuring out how to solve each puzzle and find all the items. The purple environment also looked very nice :)

Thanks for playing!  Glad you enjoyed it. ^_^

I like HO game and really enjoyed playing your take on the ancient theme. Lots to like about this game, really well put together and I liked the purplechrome theme to the art.  I echo the sentiment of Connor wish there was more! If you happen to continue it, I would definitely like to continue the story! Really nice submission, congrats!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing!   Though there was a lot more planned for this game, there’s currently no plans to continue.  It was really fun to put together though, and I’m so glad you liked it!

This was absolutely delightful to play, I enjoyed it so much and I wish there was more! The colour scheme was perfect for showing you that the star really was dying. The story was interesting and your little developer cameo was great! All the dialogue was really well written too! Congrats on making such an enjoyable game! :D

For someone who loves the colors purple/violett/indigo, THIS WAS A DREAM!

Didn't do any point and click adventures in a long time and it instantly hooked me. If that wouldn't be enough, THERE ARE WORMHOLES!

The dialog could close itself after the last message. I often spam clicked to get through the text  quickly I already knew. Especially if you get stuck and try everything out this was a little issue for me.

Keep making awesome games :)

Developer

Thank you for playing the game!  I'm glad you liked the game palette! ^_^

I agree that the text gets repetitive at times.  During development, this seemed like a low-priority issue, but with all the trial and error involved with point-and-clicks, it makes sense to reduce the repetition.   Will keep this in mind for the future!

Loved it! SCIFI theme, perfect length for a Jam and a very well picked up music. You really inspired me. I was afraid of trying a to develop a small point & click adventure because i was afraid of so many animations you have to make, but you can really make good results with more static images.

If there is something you can improve, maybe is the right click/cancel and inventory interaction, which i'm not sure it always worked as expected. And probably add a 'it doesn't work' dialog instead of full description when using an item (i found my self reading again and again the full sea description while doing the classic 'using everything with everything')

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!  I’m glad you enjoyed it.

I definitely agree it would be better to have the “it doesn’t work” dialogue, like you see in most click-and-points.  Unfortunately we were running out of time and decided this was low priority.  Will keep this in mind in the future!

That was a fun!  The shifts in music make the tone really engaging.  The puzzle sequence is clever and the classic point and click animations are a nice pay-off to figuring things out.

I can see how if someone hasn't played anything in the genre they might not be in the mindset to experiment to find a solution.  A hint system would likely be the way to go, but that's too big for a game jam.

I think you've found a good balance and maybe there could just be some encouragement "We promise the game isn't broken.  Click everything!"

Developer

Thanks for playing, and for the helpful feedback!  Definitely will keep that in mind for the future!  ^_^

Other than the magnifying glass issue others have had too, I didn't have any other issues getting to the end.. perhaps maybe not knowing what was clickable and what wasn't, and that items could be combined. Maybe these are standard point-and-click game mechanics, but I wouldn't know as this is my first play of one in decades! :)

The story is engaging and the visual art style is very consistent and it all works well together. Good length for a game jam too, well done.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing, and for your feedback!  I'm glad you enjoyed the visual style and story!

I definitely agree we could have better telegraphed what was possible in the game.  It was planned to have a hand icon when hovering over interact-able items, but we didn't end up implementing it due to time constraints (as you do in game jams, haha).  Will definitely keep that in mind for the future!

It's always a learning experience!

I'm stuck! Help!

Can't find any glass or a way to get stuff from the cave.

I so want to find out more loving this so far!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!  Have you tried interacting with the spoonbill?
You can use the magnifying glass (lower corner) to hover over items in the scene / your inventory to learn more about each item.
Sorry this wasn't made super clear in-game!

I gave the spoonbill something to eat, guess I better see what else I can do there

Finally got to the end!

Although I clicked too soon and skipped the important revelation about the star!

Developer(+1)

Yay!  Thanks for finishing the game!

SPOILERS:

The revelation was left ambiguous - the main character is surprised that the star is so bright in the sky (implying the star was super large  and bright billions of years ago, since the main character is now on a planet billions of light years away), but the game doesn't really explain why that's important.  We had more planned for the game, but ended up running into time constraints (typical game jam stuff haha).

I loved the beautiful, melancholy tone of the game. Really drew me in, and I don't usual play point and click games. Well done!

Really good job! I dont really ever play point and click adventures but I really enjoyed this one. It took me a bit to figure out the puzzles but not too long great job there! Also I really liked being able to freeze the hole to make cracks that was cool. One thing I would suggest at least for people like me lol is that hovering normally tells you what the items are instead of using the magnifying glass but maybe thats just me. The art style goes super well with the vibe as well!

Amazing job!
