Pretty fun and good looking digital board game. I enjoyed my time with it and it's a very solid entry.
Very well done!
Thanks for playing our game!
So i like the overall look and atmosphere of the game, plus i like that this seems at heart a tabletop rpg in videogame form, definitively has lots of qualities and looks like a lot heart was put to the game.
But i read the instructions and a tried a few times, but i'm really confused about the how the combat system works in the game :( mainly i don't understand how you select an attack and i feel the issue's not really about the combat system itself but really that it needs to be explained a bit more clearly.
Still appart from this confusion i see the potential and i really like the idea and presentation :)
Thanks for playing our game!
Yes, the instructions were not the best (last minute). Still glad you tried our game.
As for your question. After you move to action phase you first click on the dice needed for an attack
(for ex. you click on two 6) and the corresponding attack is enabled (in the previous example the basic attack - 1st one is enable)
you can the select it and pick up any target it needs (in the game only the 1st and 3rd need target, the 2nd is attack all enemies)
I hope you can understand better now the combat mechanics.
Oh i get it now, i didn't understand the system working like this, gonna try it again to see more of the game, and no worries, i can totally understand that the instructions on the game page are made last minute that's jams in a nutshell, one thing that would have helped though would be to have the die values required noted under the attack icons on the hud i think this would have been less confusing :)
Nice little dungeon crawler. But the fight system is a little bit hard to understand. I ended up clicking random dices and see which attacks become available. Maybe you can add some tooltips to the attacks or icons below that explain which combination is necessary? Just an idea.
The art is very neat! Very good submission, despite the confusing fight system! :)
Thanks for playing our game.
The plan was to have an ingame tutorial or at least some tooltips on attacks but we run out of time!
But we manage to put that info on the game page (like the die values needed for each attack) if you want to try again!
The game has a nice little plot twist at the end.
Interesting concept and entry. I never quite caught on to how the dice mechanics work.
Thanks you for playing our game!
Due to limited time the instructions of the dice mechanics are on the game page.
The short version is that you roll dice (and reroll some or all of them in the Dice Phase) trying to get a combination of values needed to activated attacks in the second phase where you select the values needed in order to activate an attack.
For ex. if you rolled two 6 in the dice phase you selected them in the action phase in order to enable the basic attack action allowing you to select it in order to deal 1 damage to 1 enemy. Same with the other attacks.
It use a push you luck mechanics. Do you keep (for ex.) the 6 you rolled or do you roll them trying to get die values needed for the better attacks?
Nice game!
I agree that the instructions were a little confusing, but fortunately I've played board games with this mechanic before, so it wasn't hard to follow. I liked the graphics, I found the combat mechanic interesting. I wish there were more attack types available, or maybe a defense action. I think that'd make choosing die to keep more interesting, but that's the limitation of jam games :)
Thanks for trying our game!
A player after my own heart! I love board games (in fact the mechanics of game are based on a physical dicegame I made)
Unfortunately as always with jam games we run out time. For example the Critical Strike was supposed to have a stun effect.
In any case we aren't giving up on the game mechanics.
In fact a game with improved version of the mechanics is being made for this week Weekly Game Jam.
like the game I enjoyed playing with dice to use an action
Thanks for playing our game!
Glad you liked the dice combat system.
We wanted to try something different for combat mechanics instead for the usual attacks/defend style.
An interesting game, I see a lot of potential but the controls throw me off too much to enjoy it.
The art is great, and I really like the mood of the game. But reading the instructions and trying to figure out how to use the dice to attack... It didn't make much sense to me.
An example, I am told it is ok to re-roll twice - but does that mean any number of dice 2 times, or am I allowed to re-roll only 2 of my already rolled dice? Further, using the dice for my skills was unclear, is there a number threshold?
If you could communicate these things clearly to the player within the first 30 seconds or so of the game I think it could stand out a lot more. Lots of potential here!
Thanks you for trying our game.
We are going to add tomorrow better instructions for the combat system. We planned to add an ingame combat tutorial but we run out of time.
As for your questions:
When you reroll, you reroll each time all not locked dices and you can do this up to 2 times.
You can lock and unlock between rerolls as many dice that you want.
For ex. you can lock the 1st and 2nd dice after the initial roll and then use your 1st reroll to roll the rest (3rd-6th) dice.
After that you can unlock (for ex.) the 1st die and lock the 4th, 5th because they have better values and use your second reroll
to roll 1st, 3rd, 6th dice trying to get the best dice values.
