controlling the beetle is such a good idea! I wish for more levels

Developer

Thanks! More levels will be coming after voting ends :)

There are a lot of games this jam that had the same idea but this is the first one where you do not control the die itself but another character rolling it. I like the variation there and a (i guess dung) beetle seemed fitting.
I like the art but i can imagine that it would be easier if you would have tiles in the levels that indicate how far the die rolls.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I was originally planning on including a feature like that, but ran out of time.

Maybe it's just been a while since i've played an isometric game, but it took a bit to adjust to the movement controls. But, the beetle is adorable and that makes up for it.

Developer

Yeah, I'm thinking about changing the controls in the future. Thanks! :)

Cute art for the beetle! The vertical levels possible in this game add some potential for interesting puzzles. Since you want to expand the game later: There is a bug(haha) where you can walk into the ramp and glitch out of the level area.

Developer

Thank you for letting me know! I hadn't noticed that bug before.

Can we talk about how fun pushing the die is down the ramp? The animation? I feel like that beetle achieves nirvana in that moment. 10/10 animation.
Please keep at it and add levels!

Developer

Thanks so much! I'm originally a programmer and picked up pixel art when I started making games, so it means a lot to hear that my art is actually good :) I'm definitely planning on expanding the game in the future!

Nice bug, and no bugs found either.

Developer

Thanks!

I love isometric view style!! It is simple but not easy. Good puzzle game

Developer

Thank you for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

very cute, just one level though

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, I wanted to make more levels, but I ran out of time.

Even if there's only one level, it's a cool perspective and that beetle really do be rolling that die.

Developer

Haha, thanks! I was having a hard time coming up with a good name, so I just went with the working title.

I love this idea, its really fun. Wish there were more levels

Developer

Thanks so much! I wish there were more levels too, haha. I was working on making another one, but I didn't have enough time to finish it before submissions closed.

I beat it first try

Developer(+1)

I'm not surprised! This level was supposed to be the tutorial level and there would be harder ones after it, but I ran out of time to make any more levels.

The controls are quite hard to get used to. But I like the art and animations. Nice game!

Is it only a 1 level game or did I fail to pass the first level?

Developer

Thanks! The art side of making games is hard for me, so I'm glad it turned out well :)

I wanted to add more levels, but I had some other stuff going on this weekend, so I just didn't have time. I might make more after the jam ends though.

Is there only 1 level?

Developer

Yeah, there's only one. I wanted to make more levels, but I ran out of time. I'm thinking about expanding on the game and adding more levels in the future though!
