Surprisingly, this has good dialogue in it, but maybe a bit too much? It almost has an FMV / visual novel game feel to it, specially since it is in 3D. Would've loved to see the whole story that the dev have planned for the game. Congrats on finishing the jam !

Thanks :)

Unfortunately, I over-scoped a bit with how much randomization I wanted to be in the game. Which made for some dialogue options and scenes the player might never even experienceπŸ˜‚

And that took so much of it that I didn't get time to put actual gameplay where the player feels immersed and part of the game. But I have a better idea of how I want the story to go, and with enough motivation after the jam hopefully, I'll fix it and go on track with more story and gameplay.

Seemed interesting, but I couldn't see my mouse for most of it and some text was being cut off.

Developer

yes unfortunately I forgot to show the mouse after the first dialogue and that caused playing the second scene to be a bit hard.

I did fix it though and am planning to update it after the voting period.

Initially this looked really interesting. I liked that it has a narrative element. Immediately got Inscryption vibes. However, my mouse pointer doesn't show up in the game at all so it was rather difficult to do anything. It'd be interesting to see this more polished.

Developer(+1)

Yes, I based the setup based on how much I really enjoyed Inscryption.

I did fix the cursor issue as well as some text going off-screen. I intend to re-upload it after the voting ends. And maybe continue with the whole story. But who knows πŸ˜‚

The game doesn't scale properly on my PC, so I can't see the options to choose, sadly.

Developer

The options aren't UI elements but are game elements.
You go over the object with the mouse and press E which will make your choice.

For the first choice, you choose one of the two mini characters, for the second part, you choose the house or the peasant.

Although for the second part the cursor is hidden so you need to move some to find the choices πŸ˜‚

Ah okay, that makes it more difficult. I'll try. It's a really nice concept!

It seems like you wrote a lot of dialogue and scenarios for this which is impressive but for me, after I choose the character my cursor is invisible and that makes it very very hard to actually select things and play (also some of the text is cut off screen)

Developer

Yeahh unfortunately I forgot to edit the text to thing to actually stay at the middle of the thing instead of stretching and forgot to show the cursor after the first cutscene πŸ˜‚

I did fix both issues and just waiting for the jam to end to upload a fixed version and maybe some more story into it.

Very impressive that you've managed to make an interactive story for a jam. I think unfortunately that your choice of making it 3d detracts more from the game than it adds. I also had som UI bugs, so some of the text went off the screen.

Developer

I think making it 3D was more of a stylized option but it took me way too much time overthinking it that I didn't get enough time to do much πŸ˜‚
Maybe a better option would be to start with the second scene and do more and make it more 2D-ishπŸ˜‚

but also making multiple scenarios for each character took way longer than I thought it would take since it was based on random chance and testing it was hellπŸ˜‚

I didn't understand what to do after the dialogs

Developer

You can use the mouse to hover over items and press E to interact (There is text on the top left corner to tell you what you're choosing). The build uploaded on itch locks the cursor during the second scene. But I uploaded an alternative on drive, just in case.

Interesting concept, but gameplay is lacking. May have taken the theme too literally.

Developer

Yeah, it turned out much shorter than I initially wanted it to be.

I over-scoped a bit and tried to do many things at the same time. I really like story-based games though that's why I went in this direction.
