Holy that last scene, how could you do this to us :'(  love the art! For some of the knitting it's unclear if there's any sort of logic to which loop you're supposed to knit next, but some of them are clear. Nice work, congratulations on a successful jam!

Loved the art style and the change between narration and knitting. I hope the grandma is still happily knitting even in the afterlife. Great job everyone!

peter griffin indeed

It is refreshing to see a more narrative approach to the theme. Good job with the art style and sound design too!

It might be nice to know which loop was next with a white highlight or something. Also I didn't understand she was remembering until I read the description. I thought the little girl was a granddaughter or something. A prompt "Press E to remember" for the very first cutscene would clear this up.

The shader is beautiful. I'm a big fan of shaders and this one is incredible. Kudos for making it (or finding it, the credits don't say). The only other visual comment I have is it would be fun if the cursor was a little knitting needle. I'm not sure what engine you used, but it should be pretty easy to change in the project settings :).

When she started to remember things after marriage it made me a little upset that there was just work. I would've loved to see a fun interaction with her kid/husband. It was pretty depressing to watch her work and work and work on that computer.

Fantastic submission. Great job!

We wanted it to be a little challenge of learning the patterns as you go, but valid point. I made the shader from scratch! It pixelates the screen buffer, blurs it a little, and a tiled knitting pattern texture gets multiplied over the whole thing. Thanks for playing!

Cool take on the theme! (We did a yarn-crafting grandma game as well but took it in a different direction :D). Loved the different stitches, would have appreciated a little visual feedback to know where to thread next instead of guessing. Game is very pretty, love the knitting effect on the little cutscenes! Great job :)

Rip grandma, you would've loved horses.

Jokes aside, I loved the game. The visual storytelling was fantastic, and the little woven cutscenes were just incredible.

ALSO I LAUGHED SO HARD WHEN GRANDMA FELL IN THAT ONE POSE, I FELT SO BAD-

When we're old, instead of knitting, we'll be browsing cute animals while reminiscing about browsing cute animals in our younger years :)
Great game and very good (and appropriately depressing) intrepretation of the theme. Well done!
Stay funky,
Dez

I rated your game highly, and as everyone has already said, there's so much to love with this game, including the horses!
Thank you!

It would be really nice if you can drop by and checkout my team's entry for the jam here:

Developer

thankyouu!!

Oh, one of my favorite submissions!

Here are some mechanics I really liked:

1. The popping effect of the knitting, I liked how it kind of represented the memories.

2. The knitting shader effect.. it's simply crazy!!!

3. The horse / core message. it really resonated with me. It's a bit sad to think about sacrificing your dreams for your loved ones, but it's also about making a choice. Maybe the grandma isn't regretting anything, but simply reflecting on the decisions she made. At least, that’s how I see it!

Developer(+1)

Thank youu!! Catpie did a really good job with making the shader work properly! was really cool to see it all come together!!

This girl looks at horses like it's the stock market. Really cute game overall. Reflects on the mundanity of life and a deep respect for yarn and equestrian..ism.

Developer

lol! she does! thank youu ^^

I really liked the fabric overlay (shader?) on the 'platforming' (for lack of a better word) segments, really cool effect!  And I have to agree with lafferty, you found the perfect balance of comedy and tragedy when grandma took a tumble.

Nice job!

Developer

thank you so much! :D super glad you enjoyed it!!

thank you kindly! :3

Right in the feels. Well done.

* I do wish the knitting had more of a "guide" or "game" to it. I found myself just spamming the mouse to get the knits.

* The image of the Grandma keeled over with the cat... whoever did that managed to land a perfect balance between comedy and sadness

Developer

:) thank you! we thought it would be nice to have at least alittle bit of challenge, the knitting patterns do get easier after you figure out where the first few stitches go! glad you enjoyed the game though!! :DD
