I really loved the idea, such a good take on the tower defense x survivor genre and also a good implementation of the theme. Nice job!

"I am become turret, destroyer of lil aliens"
Really fun gameplay loop, with a cool blend of visual aesthetics to give it its own unique feel. I can definitely see potential to grow this into a bigger game with different tracks, enemies, turrets, etc. My only hangup is that, amongst all the glorious chaos, I couldn't tell when and why enemies were getting through. I saw the HP go down but I was ZOOMING around lol. Overall, though, really fun game and I hope you get to expand it further! I'd definitely play on mobile or Switch
Thank you very much for playing and we're really glad to hear you enjoyed it! If we had left the speed of the train as it was first implemented, it would've been impossible to lose, so we dialed it down enough to allow a few aliens to pass through even on mach speeds, after all, it wouldn't be fun playing indefinitely and it would focus the players to think hard what upgrade for turrets is best next :)
Final score: 17:20
This game was very satisfying once I got going. I thought I'd stumbled upon some incredibly busted combo, but looking at your gif, it looks like that's very much gameplay as intended. After a while it did get to the point where it felt like there wasn't really enough to actually do between upgrades, though pumping "w" while watching a birds' nest of lines cover my screen was very zen. It didn't look like any aliens were getting through, but I guess they were, as my health bar did slowly drain at the end. I wasn't sure what circumstances caused the sudden slowdown of the train, but I was able to circumvent it by pumping the engine instead of holding it down.
I know game jam constraints are what they are, but I'd love to see this game get revisited to have more content, so that it doesn't feel quite as repetitive at the end. On the other hand I drove in circles for 17 minutes, so.......
I really liked this game and its aesthetic. I felt like the pacing was perfect, where a powerup would usually arrive just as I needed it most.
I found the sudden slowing down of my train to be frustrating and inconsistent at times - a slowly recharging status bar or the wheels gradually heating up could be really nice to show when I should preserve some momentum (unless I just missed it).
Really great game!
Hahah you got us there, the sudden slowing down of the train was a last minute addition to balance out the overpowered train that could knock away infinite enemies. Had we more time, a bar and an upgrade card would be available to tweak the balance of it further! Thank you for playing the game and we're glad to hear you enjoyed it :)
Fun game! I share the same view as the below comment. Just one addition! Would really love to play it again with more enemy type. Great job!
Okay, so this is actually a *really* fun little game, and so unique. So I'm going to give some legit feedback, because I would love to see this become a full game.
- The radius should be more visible (and always visible), it was very hard to tell where I needed to be positioned.
- I'd like to see different track loop shapes, so that I can make choices about which path I need to take. Like those racing games where the track splits and you can choose left or right, but then both paths eventually meet up and merge again.
- I loved that you could run over monsters to kill them, 10/10 gameplay right there
- I loved that you couldn't go back, only forward. Forces you to think about whether you need to rush around to the other side or not.
- UI is currently covering a lot of the top of the screen, hiding monsters coming in that direction. Also... I didn't look at those UI bars the entire time I played, I didn't feel like I needed to, and I wasn't sure what they were supposed to be showing anyway. Whatever they're for, it feels irrelevant to the move-and-shoot gameplay.
Thank you very much for the extensive feedback! We were unsure how visible the radius needed to be, as at first it was glowy and visible, but it overlapped the enemies and it became too chaotic once you got a few turrets. Different loop shapes, something we thought about, though for the 48 hours we had was too difficult to implement, so we made it simple, but thank you for reinforcing our idea! About the UI, it had 2 bars, top one is for EXP so you can see how much you need until lvl up and the bottom for HP, but definitely could have been done differently, totally agree! Anyways, we're really glad you enjoyed the game!
I enjoyed my time with it, although, it would’ve been more interesting if you could reverse and the tracks were in a more complex loop, even with obstacles, maybe.
Very expandable idea, great stuff!
interesting style and world theme and interesting take on loops. Was fun amassing a ton of turrets and teslas.
Going beyond the gamejam limitations it would be nice to have some more gameplay options for the player, I ended up holding/spamming forwards to keep the train looping at max speed whilst wiping all enemies out without having to think much on what I was doing.
I really enjoyed it. If you manage to make it legible on small screens I would be happy to see it as a mobile game, one tap design already works very well!
On PC you'll get those "my mouse needs something to do" comments)
Good stuff. It's really satisfying to watch a train demolish everything on its way in the late game
Your art and theme look great. The city and the train gave me final fantasy 7 overworld vibes. It is a fun take on the theme but I maybe would have liked to have some more agency as a player.
Maybe let me control a bigger turret with my mouse or let me collect the xp with my mouse. It would perhaps also be fun to have some enemy variation. a big slow tanky falla or a smaller faster one.
But it's a jam game and of course and time is limited. Great job!
I really like this concept, it felt super satisfiyng to run over the aliens or block them with the train! Very cool!
So fun, one of my favorites games yet !
The concept is very cool and add new fresh ideas to the genre, you roll over ennemies, block them, defend one side but not the other ...
Maybe some powerful upgrade to the train could be cool like more speed or more energy idk
And It's very well executed, the visuals are great, the sound and music is not overwhelming but engaging. It's amazing to have done this so quickly !
Wonderful! The art style was great and the game play loop was nice. I really enjoyed the upgrade system and making my train as op as possible, really took a simple concept to the next level in a great way. Nice work!
I played this way more than I should :) Very addictive, loved the aesthetics! Great job.
