WOOHOO BEAT IT FIRST TRY. Very fun roguelike. Felt a bit too easy to the point where a lot of the new balls felt like fluff (I never took damage so I'm not even 100% sure what the trigger for damage was). Other than that though it was great, and having it all contained on the same screen was kind of ingenious design. Great work!
Congrats! About the difficulty I purposefully made it easier than I would like as I want more people to be able to beat it in a shorter amount of time, like for game jams. I'm updating the game after the jam and adding more content, which will hopefully force the player to settle more so into a build to tackle the game's challenges. Glad you enjoyed!
This is great! Very addictive and so much content for a jam game! Maybe show lines of attack on hover when placing a weapon?
Other than that, you have got a banger on your hands and if you release it on ios I will buy it right away :)
Btw, I have seen this in progress pics on discord and just the art alone hooked me...and now I spent like 15 minutes searching that channel to find it! Glad I did! :D
Thanks so much! Showing the lines when placing the weapon is a great idea, I’m working on remaking the e game right now with a lot more QoL features and I’ll probably add that.
A quite unique and interesting gameplay. :D
Spent some time figuring out how to play.
The music is great.
Thank you! :)
Interesting concepts and rich content! Although it took a little time to understand the game content. In fact, I had also considered making a ring-shaped game. And if you are interested you can also try my game, I would appreciate it!
So awesome!! It's super fun, I love the aesthetics and interesting gameplay, and the level of polish is amazing! It's very satisfying to destroy the enemies and beat the system and acquire upgrades. It is a little bit overwhelming in the first few minutes, but then you quickly get a grasp on it and realize it is a nice little gem of a game with plenty of features! Very impressive!
ngl, it was a fun game and strategy, im a fan of strategy game so this fit me well, well done!
Ngl, I didn't even realize that I had a health count, and it was kind of confusing to understand what was happening at first (even with the help of the tutorial!). The concept was really unique though, and the art, music, and sound effects were great!
Thanks! I actually had a part of the tutorial showing your health and then accidentally disabled it and never enabled it again because I playtest with no tutorial 😅 glad you enjoyed it otherwise though!
REALLY FUN, WELL DONE!
definitly a stand out!
Okay this is a pretty awesome game. Took me a second to understand exactly how the mechanics worked, but after I figured it out I had a lot of fun with it! Great job!
Very creative and fun game with a nice use of the theme!
I enjoyed getting different balls with different effects, and getting stronger. The different enemy patterns are also great! However, I found one part a bit confusing: I don't really understand why I die when I die. I'm still not really sure how it works haha. Despite this, I had tons of fun playing and I will definitely go back to it.
Your health is in the top left which I forgot to say in the tutorial. Whenever an enemy attacks a space that doesn’t have anything on it you take damage. Sorry about the confusion :|
Now, I feel dumb... haha. How did I not see it!?
I finally reached the final boss and beat the game! Thanks for your reply!!
congrats lol
Very fun and creative game! It takes some time to understand the gameplay, but once you understand it, it's really fun and addictive.
If I had to nitpick, it's slightly confusing when choosing rewards . Some items are hard to tell if they're balls or passive items, and I'm still not sure what the yellow line between two enemies means.
Still, Amazing game. Great job!
Thanks! I guess I completely forgot to differentiate balls and passives, uh oh :P. And the yellow line means that said enemy is healing the enemy it’s pointing towards. Thanks for playing!
I seriously love this game, phenomenal work. Jus the right amount of head scratching with some really great art and music. There's a bit of a learning curve to understand the mechanics, but I think you do a decent enough job of it, and once you get it it's just a ton of fun. Excellent work, this is one of my favorites this jam!
Thanks so much <3 I'm glad you enjoyed
Love the concept! Art is unique and fun, audio is great. I did manage to somehow freeze the game at 0 remaining shots with nothing happening. Haven't run into any bugs other than that one though and this game is very enjoyable and repayable. I could totally see myself playing a mobile version of this game whenever I needed to burn time!
Thanks so much! I'm glad that was the only bug you ran into because I found and patched far too many during the jam. The code is horrible, definitely the second worst code I've ever written. I'm considering updating the game after the jam and a mobile version would be cool, although with how bad the code is, 'updating' would actually be almost a complete restart, but I'm definitely considering. Glad you enjoyed ^-^
I'll have to checkout the post-jam version if you do continue the project! :)
I heard some advice somewhere (probably YouTube) to never start with the codebase from a game jam. I hope you continue work on this as well. The concept makes for some interesting problems / decisions.
Very interesting concept! I really like the strategic depth that this game offers. It was a bit confusing, especially early on. I think maybe this could have been mitigated by introducing the mechanics a bit slower and spread out over multiple tutorial levels, but obviously that is difficult for a jam timeframe. Overall, good job!
Really creative entry for the jam. The artwork was really nice! Although I did find it a little hard to understand the rules at first
Thanks! Sorry about the confusion, I was worried about boring the player with a tutorial that was too long. I figured since it's a roguelike you can experiment and figure things out and then lose and try again if need be with no punishment. Thanks for playing! And I'm glad you liked the art because it's a completely new style I tried out (:
Very cool! The concept of your attacks being also your way of preventing damage is very interesting.
