This got very hectic very fast. I love it!
Thanks for playing!
This was such a smart idea for a game! I feel like the frantic running around paired with the seemingly endless taks really accentuate the idea of being part of the hotel staff lol. Also, I gotta say, I abolutely LOVED the aesthetic. The blocky style and cartoonish animation reminded me a lot of one of my favorite games ever, Super Paper Mario, but with kind of a retro game feel to it (also, the lil guy moving around was very Mr. Krabs coded which is fantastic). Only piece of advice if you'd like to continue making the game would be to get a music designer for the ost, as I feel the game deserves its own score, but the music you chose this time worked wonderfully to built tension regardless. Overall, such an amazing experience!! :)
Seems like I have achieved exactly what I wanted! Thank you so much for playing the game!
I thought of asking one of my friends for music, but then this specific kevin macleod music started playing in my head for some reason, as if its sent by god just like the game idea itself, and I KNEW i had to pick it
This is a really, really fun concept that looks like it has a ton of potential! I wish you had more time to flesh it out - here's some ideas that I think could make the game nicer and more manageable if you revisit it later:
Really great game overall though!
These are some really good suggestions! I dont think I could have added all these during the jam
unless I pulled alot of all nightersbut for a post jam update these are phenomenal!Thank you for your feedback, its nice seeing someone so passionate about giving feedback like this!
Oh and I forgot to state this (I was writing this while I was outside) the music already speeds up, but it may be buggy on the web build? I thought I fixed it but its very slight right now, maybe you didnt notice it
I enjoyed the game, all the assets are well-made and it was charming!
I think either giving the player a way to see a list of what room requirements they missed last time, or describing the room requirements in the game's description would help, since they go by onscreen a bit too fast for me to read and fully process what it entails.
Thank you! There were actually supposed to be 2 text boxes under the first ones, and it was going to scroll down so you would have more time to read everything, but I couldnt add that due time constraints. Im glad you enjoyed it!
Took a little bit to fully understand, but was really cool once it clicked. Awesome idea and execution!
Only thing was after playing for a while it got a bit overwhelming. Could be nice to mark the rooms which you've entered (since the start of the round) and the requirements are met.
Thank you for playing! The game eventually reaching a breaking point is intentional, it would keep going on forever if it had not done that. There are alot of colors on the map already so Im not very keen on adding alot more, but adding a color to a requirement room you have checked could be helpful, i will consider it!
Super polished game! Not so hard to understandable and also a very great concept!
Good Job!

Good Job!
Im glad you enjoyed it!
Super interesting take on the theme with nice mechanics. Moving the player is very satisfying especially thanks to the sound design. The artstyle is nice but the text is very hard to read and the "x, y" score blends in the background a bit too much.
The games core gameplay is the most unique I have come up with, thank you! I had made the X:Y coordinates white initially, but they didnt stand out much then, changing the background graphic could help ammend it perhaps. Thanks for playing!
It was hard to wrap my head around the concept at first, but once I got used to it, it's pretty fun. Very inventive mechanic, good work.
Yeah, the game takes a little while and a vit of brainpower to click. Thanks for playing!
I really enjoyed this. What a creative take on the theme. The timer makes this so hecktic and stressful! Hehe. Good stuff.
If the timer makes everything reach a tipping point where theres so much to do and so little time, I have successfully achieved my vision. Thanks for playing!
perfectly original concept
very coherent, really good work!
Thank you!
We think you've succeeded both with coming up with a creative concept and implementing it well!
The controls feel natural and behave exactly as expected. Nothing feels finicky or janky, it's a smooth experience!
The trickiest thing to understand for us was that it's ROOMS that you place, not doors. Perhaps letting the doors to each room have a unique visual could help with that? Once we took a moment and really studied the map and what was going on, things became clearer - Though that took a while on account of the time pressure.
One suggestion we've got is to wait a bit longer before starting the countdown - maybe after fulfilling a request or two? Giving the player some time to familiarize themselves with all aspects of the game - placing rooms, navigating, and requirements - would be helpful. The time pressure makes it a bit hard to really take everything in, which lead to us having a tricky time figuring out the mechanics or noticing the map properly.
We really like the visuals! You've got a very cohesive art style, everything fits well together and feels like it belongs in the same game. Making every room distinct through their palette and patterns was a great choice!
Overall really nicely done!
Thank you for the throughout review! I will go by one by one since theres a bit to unpack here;
I get that carrying rooms around is a little challenging to understand, but I couldnt figure out a way to better communicate that to the player while the jam was still going, and figured people would figure it out when unique rooms come in. I could maybe add names to the guests and show that ontop of the door, you are holding, which I thought after the jam had ended, i will adress it after the jam ends!
The countdown used to be MUCH more lenient, but I decided to make it more strict because people who learned what the game is about had alot of time to spare. It is still the case now, but it feels like its fine tuned way better than how it used to be. The reason I kept it a little more strict is I wanted the game to be more chaotic in that regard, you wont be able to do everything after a while, but you will still be able to get your rating increased if you do enough, which makes the game end in a crescendo where there is too much to manage and too little time
Once again, thank you for the throughout review! I am glad you enjoyed it as much as you have!
This is so fun and actually really cool. Although i didnt understand what the 0,1 meant. is it a coordinate or something? also i love the animation of the player
I assume you mean the 0,1 that shows up while your rating is being judged, if so that is the position of the room that is satisfied/dissatisfied with its placement. I am glad you had fun regardless!
oh ok so THATS what it means
Phew, it took me a while to realize that the same door led to the same room no matter where it was placed lol. I was confused on the x and y position requirement before realizing that. I think a proper tutorial might help to onboard to the game better. For this gamejam specifically, maybe you could add more gameplay hints on your page description.
That aside! I really like the game! The art and animation are polished, and the gameplay is unique. Great job!
I might make it have a tutorial, but I also dont entirely hate the idea of letting the player loose and having them figure everything out by themselves, adding a bit more chaos to the first couple of runs before it all clicks. Thanks for the kind words, I am glad you enjoyed it!
I love the idea ! It's very clever (my brain froze..). The art direction is also very cool !
Thank you! The game is very tasking on the brain indeed, how much thinking the game required suprised me too once I finished it, since I implemented all the checks at once without testing them one by one
ahhah yeah classic for a jam
What a delightful game! It gets pretty challenging very quick, especially if you're not great with directions like me lol, I was constantly getting lost in my maze of a hotel. It would be nice if there was a way to swap the door you're holding with an existing door rather than having to find an empty slot for the door you're holding and then go back and pick up the other door to move it. The styling is great, I love how the main character looks and moves and seeing what new funky guest has arrived was always a treat.
I'm glad you have noticed so many of the little details! I was hoping someone would call their hotel a maze because thats exactly what I wanted for the game to turn into at the end.
Swapping doors was not something I have thought about before, I may try that post jam but it may be a little difficult to visually indicate, doesnt mean I wont try though! Im glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic game! It took a little while to get the hang of things but once I did it was a lot of fun. This is really impressive and well polished for your second game jam, I'm jealous haha! Great job.
The devil is in the details as they say, the games I make are either released polished or not at all. Thank you for playing!
The game is visually stunning!!! The animations are amazing! The idea is also incredibly creative compared to everything else I've played! And although I spent most of my time not knowing what I was doing, the game was still fun. Yes, I lost, but the art alone was more than enough to keep it fun and how everything is completely polished.
:D
The game is a bit difficult on the first couple of runs, but people usually get the hang of the game after a bit of warming up. And you are bound to lose eventually, those requirements will definitely catch up to you eventually. Thank you for playing!
Great idea! I got lost so fast but was really fun to play and the style/vibes of this game are great! :D
Thank you! The idea just came to me after 30 minutes of thinking how I couldnt make this years theme work, I am really happy with how it turned out! As for getting lost, people usually get the hang of the game after a couple runs, id say try keeping your eyes glued to the map for the first few attempts, it really helps
Super innovative and the graphics/vibes are just amazing! Got stuck a bit at the beginning but then it clicked and I had a great time. Awesome job
Thank you!
