It took me a second to figure out exactly how things worked, but once I did it provided a really interesting challenge.  The look of everything is really nice and it looks like a lot of effort went into getting the tentacle movement just right.  Well done!

Thanks so much! Having someone dedicated to art in our group this time was a huge boon, and I'm glad you liked the tentacle movement, a lot of love poured into that.

this is really addicting, good job on getting the animations feeling good and responsive

Developer

Thanks so much :)! Spent a decent chunk of time getting a nice animated look to the tentacle, and really happy with how it turned out, so glad you liked it.

For me, a huge part of the fun was playing with the controls and the mechanics. Made me appreciate this unique spin on the fishing genre more. -From a fellow fish game jammer.

Tentacle monster games looking nice in this game jam ; ) . I like the mechanics used to pull the fishing boats down, made me use 100% brain power when trying to get 2 boats at once. There is a nice amount of content for just 48 hours, well done.

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you liked the multiple tentacles, was one of the features we wanted so you could really feel like a monster pulling swarms of dudes down. As with anything, I'd love to tweak it more, but it's one of my favorite features.

Interesting and creative experience. It was a bit difficult for me to understand the mechanics at first. Hope you'll improve on it. GG!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, we're looking to improve the tutorial and also the input presentation in a post-jam update, it's not terribly intuitive as is.

The concept is very creative and original, I like it! Controls are a bit messy and difficult to handle and understand but with some tweaks it'll be allright! Loved the sound effects and especially the music. Nice job!

Developer

Good call on the controls, I think we could tweak things a bit to make it feel more responsive. We can't take credit for making the music, feel free to check out more of their stuff here: https://pixabay.com/music/upbeat-a-bit-uncertain-22145/

Interesting concept and fun!

Gorgeous game. One of the more complex submissions I have seen. My partner liked it so much we searched for it to play it again.

Developer

Glad you guys liked it!

Nice! my favorite aspect of the game was the multitasking, you need to shoot stuff, aim tentacles, and maintain the 1 and 2 presses depending on whether the hook was green or red. I loved it cause it makes sense since you are an octopus like creature, with many hands.

As a small piece of feedback though maybe the tutorial could be simplified a bit, I needed a bit before I understand what I should do.

If you can find the time, would you please check out our game as well?

Our twist of the theme is that a critic tries to play your unfinished game, and you fight from inside the computer to make him like it. Hope you'll like it!

Glad you liked it! Agree on the tutorial, I think we'll try to polish that up a bit post-jam. Also, had a look at your game and left a review, thanks for recommending it.

I liked the catching gameplay. It's a very nice experience. Great Job

I had a hard time getting the hang of the catching minigame, but the game is very charming and fun to play with. The physics feel really smooth and I love the animation of missing with the tentacle. Great work, wish I was better at the game!

This feels super polished! i love the gameplay loop

Submitted

Awesome game and really addictive! I had a lot of fun!

Personally I felt like I had to cut so many features from my game due to the time constraint, but you guys absolutely killed it!! Not only is the game loop well defined, you guys included upgrades, a day and night cycle and an encyclopedia of victims!?

Even though at some point I only got about three fishermen at the same time.. I struggled so much with the multitasking! That along with the power ups, you got me hooked. Had a lot of fun.

Congratulations on your game jam entry,  you're setting the bar high for quality <3

Developer

Thanks for the kind words, we definitely had to cut out a fair few things (particularly upgrades and a lot of balance) so we'll probably release a more polished version sometime after the jam is over.

Enjoyed it a lot. Well made!

Nice game with a nice loop.

It's fun. Thanks

Pretty baller, any game where I can pull disgusting fishermen into the depths of hell deserves to be exposed to more subjects
