Honestly I can't do most of the levels I find it really hard haha, its a really cool movement design though! Really creative great work!

Very fun and creative game!! I love how relaxing the music is and the atmosphere of being on an island makes it very calming. The woodcutter is so cute and I love his little breathing animation, I feel so bad squashing him! The levels were all a good difficulty and were fun to figure out. This is a great idea for a puzzle game and I would be more than happy to play new levels post-jam! Amazing work, keep it up!!! =D
I’m usually a bit wary of these body rotation puzzle games since I find it hard to reason about how these bodies will behave, but this one was a nice twist! Also, adding a third dimension and a climbing mechanic was a nice touch.
Definitely not a fan of the camera. In puzzle games, clarity should always come before aesthetics and the way the camera is currently set up makes it very hard to see what is happening. I think a more top-down view, als well as a farther away camera with a narrower field of view could help here (Or, I guess restricted camera controls if really want to, but probably not necessary).
Pretty sure I cheesed level 8, as I went somewhere where I was sure there was water and then rolled up in a weird way that didn’t seem possible, but a win is a win, eh?
Big fan of the contrast between the serene music, the cartoonish looks and sound effects and the somewhat brutal theming. Well done!
Thank you so much for the review! I agree for the camera thing, I considered having it follow the player but it was just too janky, maybe with extra time letting the player rotate the scene like in captain toad?
For puzzle 8 I’m still super salty to hear that haha, that puzzle is one of my favorite but the bug is just at such a convenient location that most people accidentaly stumble upon it without any ill intent.
Very fun game, with beautiful presentation! Sound and visuals were on point, and I loved the creativity of it. The tree's movement definitely provided a great spin on grid-based games! I got stuck on level 8, not sure how to solve lol.
thank you so much, sad to hear you didn’t get through 8 it’s my proudest puzzle in any game I made so far. The solution is actually quite simple (besides the fact that you can cheat and go in the water at the back apparently lol) and you simply reuse the concept from the level before. The solution goes: Right Up Right Up Up Left.
Also you can always press K to skip (I tried explaining that in game but removed an unelegant solution and just wrote it in the description.
Anyways thank you for your kind review, especially glad you liked my sound design and song.
I like these kinds of puzzles and this one is pretty well-executed. I found the directional inputs a little hard to predict because of the 45 degree offset viewing angle, but I understand this is important to see the whole level in it layers. I think the best way to combat this would be a rewind button instead of having to start each level over.
That being said, the puzzles a very fair difficulty, so starting over wasn't usually too bad. I like that the complexity doesn't necessarily increase, just the number of turns you need to take and how far you need to think ahead.
Nice work!
thanks a lot and agreed for the direction, I found out last hour or so that Godot has a toggle to turn the game into isometric which would’ve also helped with it, but having not designed visually with that view in mind it just felt too risky to switch last minute.
And great compliment for the puzzles, it’s always hard to gage difficulty without playtesters I’m glad to hear it was the right balance for you.
Really neat game! The puzzles were well put together and the sound whenever the lumberjack was squashed was very satisfying. Well done!
Very easy to learn yet fun to play!
I did have one level where it seemed like you needed to use invisible platforms? but I'm not entirely sure.
Regardless, it was fun to play and the aesthetic was really nice!
Really great game....Way to satisfying to crunch lumber jacks. I really liked the puzzle design, and i found the mechanics simple to understand but elaborate enough to allow for good puzzles. My only feedback(and this might change after a good nights sleep), is that I could not get past level 9, I had everything lined up but it would not let me make the final move to make the killing smack. Anyway it doesn't matter I had so much fun I spent the last 30 minutes messing with the game. really well done.
*Some lumberjacks were hurt in the writing of this review.
Sorry for the bug, there’s always the K key to skip levels but I didn’t advertize it enough (I should’ve just left the ingame indicator I had made even if it was a bit of a clunky implementation). But ye it’s possible it wouldn’t let you fall (although it should’ve changed after a restart probably).
About that last comment, I considered ending the game with “you killed 10 innocent people, which is 2 more than Charles Manson” but decided against it cus it was just not in the theme haha.
yessss somebody mentioned it the first hour I posted, heartbreaking! especially when it was just a matter of not making the water hitbox big enough (could’ve made it 1000 by 1000 and be done with it).
Even more sad that it happened on level 8, probably my proudest with level 4. There’s another horrible bug that is counter intuitive no one’s found it yet so finger’s crossed it stays this way.
What a cute and fun idea for the theme of the jam ;D Well done!
Loved playing that game ! Love the art and chill music. Great work !
Great game, a bit like our entrance for last year's jam Route 66. Love the art and fits the theme well!
Never did I think, in all my days, that I would see a tree chop down a lumberjack!
I wonder if your character moved by a tile when going from laying to standing (like a brick rolling onto a new side). I feel like most games like this do it this way, and during the level design process I was really mad at myself for having done otherwise (it gives the player a lot of options on each tile unless you place trees and such limiting the directions he can fall.) In the end I’m proud of the levels I came up with but ye it’s interesting how a tiny decision can make such a big difference.
Thank you very much for the kind comment.
Really cool game ! Not always a fan of puzzle games like this but I was hooked, good job and good fit for the theme
Lovely little game, love the take onthe role reversal. Great humor :)
Music and art fit well together, good stuff!
This was a lot of fun :) . Just needs some better game feel moving the tree and some bug fixes (level 8 the drowning hit boxes on the far side of the level didn't work).
