Such a cool concept! using another "character" as grappling  is neat. Took me a whiile to grasp the controls, even then some still remained a bit unruly. Bit on the hard side though. Nonetheless, good going and super cute character!!!

The core gameplay is working great. It was a bit too difficult to my taste but satisfying to play. Good job!

This one was gooooooood! Although the grappling mechanic/level design needs some polish since it’s kind of hard to grasp the grappling mechanic, to be honest.

But overall, I really really liked it!

The fairy grapple mechanic is a mixed bag. I really like it, but I think the levels don't really support the limited directional input. It's extremely hard and there's little to no direction of how and when to grapple to swing and maneuver.

Art is cute :D

Nice concept, though the controls are a bit difficult to get used to. I overall like it though.

Interesting concept. The grapple and dashing physics are on point and feels natural. It's great that you've managed to prioritize the gameplay mechanics over the many other things. The character art looks great and the animation makes it feel alive. The warning by the lasers are very helpful.

As many have said, the controls are difficult to learn. I think that separating the witch movement from the fairy's aim controls would be a better decision. I'm not sure if it's because I've only made it past level 1, but the wall jump mechanic kind of overlaps with the fairy.

It's a game with great potential. Great job on the game!

Other than the controls scheme keep screwing the player over, which everyone has already mentioned. The character art are good but I hope the rest of the art are just placeholder, because I don't really like the Beijing smog background and the colors for everything else.

Ngl, action platformer is not my type of game at all so I can't say I even get passed the second level. Difficulty curve is just too high for anyone who isn't a die-hard platformer player.

Really good game, I especially loved the fact that you selected to add the final level instead of an easier one, because it satisfies everyone who wants to put hours into the game (it might took me over 1:30 hour to beat it......)

Developer

Thank you for playing.

Really great idea and execution! I really love the grappling mechanic and the "atmospheric lighting" (if you call it like that). Overall, great job :D I really enjoyed this one!

The swinging itself feels really good, even if the movement itself is a bit weird..
Also the idea itself is great.

The girl and the fairy are too cute the girl even have a > < face when being pulled by the fairy >w<

However as others said I keep mixing up the controls, but indeed after played the game a lot during development it is hard to understand how will others feel about it. sorry > <

The concept of swinging / pulling is really promising and fun! I wish I could have chance to play platformers like this in the future xD

While I've played quite a few jam games that have a grappling hook mechanic, I have to say this has the best grappling hook mechanic out of the all the platforming games I played thus far. The fairy hook has two options: Swinging or pulling, and the physics for both of these mechanics are great and are fairly lenient to allow for player expression, although its still a bit hard. Other games I played with a similar mechanic only allows for swinging or pulling, not both. They can limit your movement by only allowing you to attach to walls, I didn't think of this as negative until I played your game and got a taste of how grappling hook mechanics can be improved! They also usually make using the grappling hook either too easy or too hard, the fairy connection mechanic by itself isn't all that difficult, but the game would be made a lot more fun with levels having smoother difficulty curve. But I understand that it would be hard to make even a single level during a 48 hours game jam, it would be hypocritical of me to fault you for that. I didn't even have enough time to make a in game text tutorial! So good on you for making 3 decently fun levels!

Thank you for the feedback.
The levels and difficulty curve is actually what I most regret for this jam.

I already think of 6 level concept but don't have enough time to do it, so I just do the tutorial and final level.  (spent much more time on fine tune the movement mechanic and art than I plan).

What a rad concept. This has the potential to be a really fun platformer. Though, I did find the controls a little difficult to use. It makes the game quite difficult. But still very fun!

The core concept and theming are fabulous. The fairy-swing concept has so much potential for making a fun platformer! And I agree with everyone below, the witch is super adorable.

Your screenshot gif makes the game look easy, but I found the controls hard to use; in particular I kept getting X and C mixed up. I bet if you figured out a way to make this work with one button instead of two, it would be a lot more manageable.

Developer

Thank you for the feed back.
At first it even use 3 button ([Z] is still useable as pull button in game).

I playtest it too much while fine tune the movement, I don't even know if this control make any sense to other people anymore lol.

Cute art style and very smooth overall! Controls were a bit hard to get the hang of, makes me wonder if controlling the placement of the fairy with the mouse instead of arrows would work better. Neat concept though!

Developer

Thank you for the aiming with mouse idea. might try it after the jam if I have time.

The idea is so good.  I wish I could come up with ideas like this :')  I enjoyed the mechanics and how the idea fits the theme so well!  Well done.  Please keep working on this project after the jam :) (no force :P)

Developer

Thank you. I wish I could come up with ideas like your too.

It’s difficult to operate at first, but as I get used to it, it’s fun to improve. It felt good when I got the first two keys!

Controls are hard to manage but great concept.

I really like the art in this game. The main character is so cute! I did find the controls a little hard to use but I thought the mechanic was really cool and once I got it down the game was fun to play! Great work! Please also check out my game and rate :)
