How does your game fit the theme?
The two particles you control are joined by a beam of energy when they are close, which you can use to kill enemies. If the particles are too far apart, they are no longer linked and they slowly lose energy and die, unless you bring them close enough to be linked again!

Love the style.
Like other people mentioned once one of the particles die you just have to wait until the other one does too, so might as well kill both of them at the same time or add some kind of way to revive the dead one with the remaining one. That said I really like the aesthetic, well done!
Thanks! Yeah, it seems to be a popular opinion that it's too harsh to just have the second particle slowly die after the first one dies... I wanted it to reinforce the importance of their connection, but I agree that it may add to the game to have a way to revive the other particle
Fun game, love the pico-8 aesthetic. After one of your atoms die you still have to wait out the countdown, I'm not sure why.
Really cool theme use, I think this game would be really fun to play using a gamepad.
Thanks! Maybe not quite what you are looking for, but if you open in a mobile browser you should get a virtual gamepad you can play on since the game was made in Pico-8.
Oh that's really interesting, I didn't know pico 8 has that, I'll have to check that out. (Also impressive you used pico 8, I'm not smart enough to be able to utilize pico 8 lol)
Great game my boi
Fun game!!! enjoyed it lots
Amazing idea! Neat execution. Loved the few seconds to increase your score concept after a particle has been destroyed! Well done!

This game is amazing! I loved the art style and the implementation of the theme, at first it is a bit difficult to control, but then it becomes quite comfortable and satisfying, a very good game, great job! :)
Amazing idea and very cool presentation. Feels so dramatic when one of the dots die and you are left there, alone. Congratulations on the game, very cool work!
Nice and to the point idea, no fluff and overcomplication - I like it. Did take a bit to figure out the controls, but I got there =) Also, like the retro style of your game, the loading sequence was cool. Also enjoyed the square format of it.
i like the look of this game, though it does tend to drag itself out once you play it for a while. maybe if you added more things to do besides destroying enemies - like collecting power-ups of sorts - then it would be a lot more fun. also, maybe there could be a way to get your partner back once you lose them, since hopelessly walking around while slowly dying seems a bit morbid... it's still a pretty cool game though :)
Good execution but there is really not much things that motivate you to move. Liked the look and feel of the game tho)
I love this game! The mechanic is so simple but works perfectly. The particle effects on the players look good, and I love how the rhythmic thumping becomes silence when the connection is broken, it really gives the feel of a heartbeat stopping. It's especially cruel that if one particle dies, you force us to watch the other particles slow death :P great job!
Thank you for the very kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D
Looks great, and the atmosphere is good, too. I wish that the entities were a little faster, and that when one entity was destroyed it immediately gave game over, as there is no longer a way to defeat enemies (apologies if one of the entities does respawn, but when I played I just immediately let the enemies kill my remaining entity so I could restart).
Overall pleasant experience, good job. I agree with DancingEngie, a motivation to get the player to move would be good.
If you do get a chance, please check out my game! :)
A literally connection between two entities isn’t the most original take on the theme, but the execution is what’s important. I love the sub-atomic theme, the artstyle and the general tension created by the music. It does take a bit to get used to but once you do, it’s kinetic and very satisfying. Also props for using PICO-8, that’s always legit.
As other have said, collectibles would greatly help encourage players to move. Other than that, I’d say that once your “partner” is gone, you can do nothing but stand there and die. That’s maybe a bit too sudden. If the particles could take a bit of a beating I feel like the overall experience could be smoother and less unfair at times.
Thanks! I also appreciate the suggestions. There are definitely some things that could be done to improve the gameplay loop, its just tough with so little time in the jam ha.
Really fun, wish there would be collectibles that would motivate the player to move more
I agree, collectibles could add to the game. Really the only motivation is to keep killing the enemies the screen doesn't get too filled. What I had wanted to do was have new color schemes which could be unlocked by surviving for longer times or killing more enemies... but I ran out of time. Thanks for playing though! Glad you had fun.
Very good take on the joined together concept. I would love to see a co-op version of this! Would make it very fun and difficult!
A co-op version is an interesting idea! Thanks for playing
cool game. I had a lot of fun playing this.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Graphics is amazing, idea is wonderful. But the gameplay is getting more boring with a time. Its the only mistake. Good job!
