A fun mechanic, and a beautiful presentation, nice job!
I had fun playing, and the tutorial was very helpful, you did a good job teaching the game. Consider making the tutorial a little bit faster for players who get a hold of the rules quickly. This might be tough to do, but I noticed I was on the WASD section of the tutorial for a bit too long even though I was moving around, and once I started shooting with the weapon it would have been nice if the text transition immediately started.
In any case, that is just a small critique, and the tutorial is already good enough as it is. Great job, I liked playing this game a lot!
I really like this concept! There is a lot of potential here and it really sticks to the theme "joined together" very well!
I think you nailed it here! This game is actually REALLY fun, and I wanted to keep playing to see what different weapons there were and if I could get them to stick to me in better positions.
The presentation is great. The simple abstract graphics make it really easy to tell what's what. The music is a pretty short loop, but it's mellow enough to not get annoying and has a great feel.
The controls are pretty hard to deal get a feel for, but that's an understandable flow for a game Jam, especially when the game is actually really fun anyways!
I'd love to see a polished up version with controller support, expanded music, and maybe some arcadey glowing effects on the in-game shapes.
Top notch submission!
Very interesting concept!
nicely polished and well implemented. fun game!
This was really great! I love the gameplay of this and I hope you flesh this out some more. I love that you blow up ships and take enemies' weapons and components. Getting their positions right makes it tricky. One thing I noticed however, is that when some of your parts explode, parts attached to it don't get detached and can remain floating. This is minor though and I really like what you did here!
Wow solid, smooth and love the gamemechanics. Wish there was a bit more sfx. Definitely a challenge to choose the right components to attach and attach it correctly so you dont inadvertantly shoot yourself.!
I still have no idea how to do bullet sfx! Like... with a million bullets it just gets insane and unpleasant so I removed them. There must be some trick that shmups use I just don't know what it is. I'm thinking something like bullet sfx can only occur every x seconds or maybe theres a max number of bullet sfx that can occur at once and once that limit is reached it just recycles them. Didn't have time to explore this during the jam XD
Really interesting concept, however I feel that maybe if guns have their barrels attached to something they should no longer shoot, it was hard to get a good cluster going without destroying parts of it yourself in the process.
Also funny note, the first time I attached the gun in the tutorial was barrel first so I was just shooting myself in the head.
A health bar of some sort would've been really helpful, or maybe changing the colours of the components as they get more damaged.
Thanks for the feedback! I ran outta time for the HUD hehe. But also yeah it's a bit weird being able to shoot yourself - I wanted the play to be a bit more about careful positioning and like.. being able to shoot off bits you didn't want or something? Maybe it would be best if they still shoot but you just can't damage yourself? Need further testing on this for sure
I did like the careful positioning aspect, but you could contrast that against some kind of jettisoning functionality - you could jettison parts when one sticks to you in a really wrong manner, but maybe you have to jettison all or none of the parts, so it comes with a downside. You could then also experiment with making jettisoning all your parts usable as a big, multi-directional weapon for when you really get in trouble.
Super cool game mechanic :-)
Interesting that attachments are the happening the way the object it's reaching your ship instead of being snapped. This creates super creative outcomes ahah.
I really liked the fact that instead of trying to beat the enemies as much as you can you try not to damage them too much so you can get their weapons and gear.
Another Modular spaceship fellow I see :-)
I love the game but the if you add the rotation control to mouse it will be amazing and easy to control
Can you Please play my game???
This is a really good game for such a short amount of time. Keep it up.
