The puzzles were well put together and the concept is pretty nicely done, it's a concept i've seen a lot in the jam though haha

Personally i'm not a fan of using assets in a game jam, I even prefer using squares to create the gameplay better than using assets all the way through

Other than that the game is nicely put together

The presentation is really great and the puzzles are challenging. Very good for 48 hours!

I think this was a good take on the theme. The main things I think that I would like to see is a redo last move button (cause I would accidentally hit the wrong one and would have to restart the level) and a way to more easily discern the grid that Habby and Dabby move on. Sometimes I couldn't tell if there was 1 spot in front of me or 2

Developer

Thanks very much for your feedback, I agree with the grid part! :) An undo might make the game too easy though.

Not bad, it was interesting and difficult enough to keep me interested through all five levels, the design is sound but perhaps a bit simple. It fits the theme quite well. Could use some further exploration of this mechanic, maybe some additional twists. Overall it was more fun than I was expecting.

My main complaint about how it is currently is that it’s kind of important to be able to tell exactly how much space there is between all the graphical elements, and which square of the grid they belong to, but with these assets and how they’re arranged it can sometimes be difficult to estimate whether there’s a walkable gap or not. This can sometimes lead the player to be punished for mistakes that feel unfair.

Developer

Thank you very much for taking the time to play the game, and I'm happy to hear you liked it. I do agree with the observation that the grids should've been more easily distinguishable. I only realized it when I was testing the levels and was already at the end of the day. Something to keep in mind for next time. :)

I love your art! Good use of theme as well.

I was having a good time. I enjoyed the art and music. My brain stopped working at the later levels. Swell job !

Fun puzzles with a good difficulty curve! Nice job!

Really fun game! I had a great time clearing the levels! Super satisfying to figure out the puzzles! Great job on this!

The theme is clearly joining together and the art is cute. In my opinion, the game idea is a little generic, but still fun. Maybe make it more clear, which objects have collision.

Nice submission though :)

Fun little game! The level design is a bit wonky though. The hardest level was the first. I would recommend starting a bit slower to help ease players into the game. Maybe also add a glow to the sign or something? Or highlight it somehow so players know that's where they need to meet up at.

This game’s art style kind of reminds me of Zelda :D Great job!! If you have some free time, can you give my game a try?

I got stuck early on ha! But a fun concept for sure!

Some points of feedback, should you want them :)

- since the movement works on a grid based system, I found it difficult to know exactly what tile the characters were on - sometimes a character moved or even didnt move when I expected them to, partly I think due to the graphics used not perfectly filling the tile they're on. An easy fix would be to actually represent the tiles on the floor (through like darker grass or something, if you wanted to keep it contextual).

- i wasn't sure where I was actually supposed to go. initially, I thought I had to get to the things that looked like stone stairs at the bottom of the screen - but then I accidently completed the first level successfully by meeting the characters in the middle - which then made me think I had to get the characters together in every level, which I don't think is actually the case.

overall, a fun game, and i'd definitely like to play more - if the levels were a little easier for someone not smart like me! :D

Thanks very much for the detailed feedback!

I agree that using tiles that actually resembled more grids, or even highlighting the grid lines would've been better. I also wanted to add shadows to the characters to better show where they are but my Photoshop skills weren't high enough for the task. :D

As for goals: you are correct both on that you need to reach the stairs and that you need to get the characters together.  :) On each level, there is a signpost and some shiny-flower-like things on the front of it that shows the only tile where you can approach the stairs from. The goal is to "Re-Join" the pair at the exit sign, so getting both characters on the same tiles anywhere in the middle will be accepted.

A bit hard, but was fun to play!

I really like the art and sounds, but I can't wrap my head around how to end even the first level haha

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I just published a write-up on the process of creating the game, where I explained the thought process and the solution of the first level. Check it out if you are interested. :)

Fun and challenging.  Great music!

the game was cool and challenging, but i think it would have been even better if both charackters moved in the same direction, good job

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! If they moved in the same direction, it would be really hard to get them to meet in the middle. :)

This game is wonderful! It's tricky to make challenging puzzles in 48 hours and you certainly pulled it off making every one I solved even more satisfying. Great art and great design makes this an excellent game. Great work, Overhead games.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! This was the first time I tried designing a puzzle game, so I'm really happy to hear you found them enjoyable.
