Quite frantic which can be fun, but I think it was too regular, too much the same experience the whole time, and lacking a bit of variety.
It could have been interesting for example to have some enemies slower but with more health (so that you have to focus on them for some time).
I quickly stopped thinking and just spammed the space bar moving up and down, not really caring about the bombing as I was avoi dthe top part, and not caring what enemy was coming from.

Congrats on making everything (art, audio) during the short time frame !

The art isn't particularly pretty but I really appreciate that you did all of it yourself, and the game is fun and works quite well, nice job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed.  Yes I agree my graphics have plenty of room for improvement, hopefully with more practise they will get better :)

That was pretty fun, got pretty crazy by level 5. It's got that oldschool DOS kinda vibe to it which is cool -- not super pretty (Though some of the animations were pretty solid!) but nostalgic.

My go-to strategy pretty much ended up being mash spacebar and run up and down on the screen until a medkit spawned in. Got me all the way to A+ rating :)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback and grats on the A+!  Yes that was my go-to strategy too, it rarely fails haha.

Hey, this is really fun. It reminded me of like the old windows 95 demo disk games that I used to love.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it, yes some of my fave games were the demo disks from magazines.  I actually made a game on itch heavily inspired from an Amiga demo disk I played years ago, you might  find fun :)

Pretty fun! I liked the progression of enemies throughout the levels.

Nice.... plus point for loading the game quickly on the browser and for making with opensource "Gdevelop"/ loved the shooter rage... concept. good luck!

Developer

Thanks for playing glad you liked it.  Yes haha, Gdevelop is probably my favourite engine for game jams, great software.

It took a few attempts to get the hang of, but my third playthrough was a lot of fun. The visuals are charming and goofy, and the music is gloriously cheesy.  A fun aesthetic, and fun to play, but some interesting mechanics beyond running and shooting might help the game feel more original.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback and good score, well deserved A!  Goofy, charming and cheesy, yes that's completely fair haha.  Yes I agree, it needs something else to make it a bit more interesting and engaging.  During the jam I thought about having a Golden Axe style potion collecting feature so you could kick mini robots for potions and building up a special attack to wipe the enemies currently on screen, that 48 hour deadline comes round quick.  Maybe a future update though :)

I don't know how this fits the theme... but regardless... The game was fun

Thanks for feedback. glad you  enjoyed it.  My take on the theme was to make a game about 'out of control' robots.

5525 points! Is that good? Whats your personal highscore?  Fun little game, artstyle-wise it's not super pretty, but the death animations on the robots were surprisingly nice! If you have time, would you mind giving our game a try? :) https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2020/rate/692904

Thanks for playing, and yes not bad score.  After many play tests my best scores  were between 4000 and 11000.  Also sure I'll check it out now.
