Cool game, would have liked to see the explosion! Would have prefered something like "slow down" areas instead of barriers around the track, if that makes sense.

Developer

thanks for playing! could you elaborate a bit more on the slow down areas you have in mind? would definitely like to consider more options in the future :)

Submitted(+1)

Sure! I was mostly just thinking of something like how in Mario Kart, if you go over the grass, you slow down, but you don't collide with anything. It's still an obstacle, but it doesn't get rid of as much momentum. Does that make sense?

Developer

ahhh yeah, i getcha! i'll have a chat with the others and see what they think if we get around to making bigger changes to the game in future :)

I found a really annoying bug: after starting the game, pause, goto main menu, start the game again, it wont start, countdown never appears adn I need to close and open the game again to play :(

Besides that the game art is very polished and beatiful. It reminds me F-Zero X from N64. The lack of different tracks colaborates to the game get boring fast but for a jam this is cool.

Developer(+1)

thanks for the bug report! and glad you had fun :) i think it would be really cool to make procedural levels to keep it fresh, but of course that was way out of scope for a jam ;-;

I love basically everything about execution. One thing I was annoyined by was how much edges slow you down.

Developer

me too! i tried a few approaches to make the walls more slipper (physics materials, custom collision handling) but couldn't get anything that worked well within the timeframe. oh well, maybe in future developments :)

A nicely executed wee game. The main menu looked gorgeous and the title gave me a good chuckle!

Developer(+1)

i’m very glad you liked our game, thank you for taking the time to rate it <3

Wait... how did you know I was having a meal... wtf

I think this is a overall nice job. Menu UI looks nice. Graphics looks nice. Gameplay wise I couldn't really go far without hitting the walls. Maybe I just suck at racing. Overall nice job.

Developer(+1)

i will admit, it can be tricky to get down! if you aren't playing with a controller, then i highly suggest trying with one since it's worlds better with one. outside of that, a common strategy is when making sharp turns to tap on the shoulder button for the direction you're turning so that you can get a narrower turning angle with the air brakes. also, thanks for playing our game! really appreciate you giving us your time :)

Submitted(+1)

Very nice looking. Maybe it needs a drifting mechanic in order to take the narrow turns. But nice job!

Developer(+2)

you can use the airbrakes to corner tightly!

Submitted

Oh ok I'll try that

I think you can consider adding other elements to the game (more chaos on the track) so that it better fits the theme. Also the ship is a little hard to control because the track is too narrow (or I just suck at racing game...). I think making the track wider + more "out of control" element could make this game a lot better!

In terms of design and visual, I love it a lot. Very simple yet very elegant and stylist like. You did a pretty good job on your design, Good job!

Developer

thank you for your kind words and criticism! i know i definitely want to mull over how we can make this game more accessible since it seems to be common for people who are not familiar with games like wipeout/redout/fast rmx how you're meant to race which is totally on us
