The game is stupid. Couldn't stop laughing the moment Mark started playing. Still can't touch it for more than a few seconds without grinning all over my face. Even watching that GIF is enough…

Developer

Hahahaha, thank you so much! ! I spent most of the dev time dying of laughter (especially the ridiculously brutal scream sound effects)

I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

This is pretty hilarious and the gameplay is awesome, good job! :D A few potential improvements could include: toning down the sound effects volume so that the music is more audible (or changing the music so it's more noticeable), improving the "rotate to get out of tight spots" mechanic (it was a bit too touchy, so I found myself spinning out of control often), and perhaps increase the field of view or decreasing speed somewhat so that the newspaper gun could be used to smack things out of the way so that you don't hit them, for an added challenge.

Overall, really well done!

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D yeah, I definitely struggled with the issues you mentioned - while they're a little better in the post jam version, they still need some work!

I love the concept and almost everything about it.

Had a couple issues, though. The car really feels like it could control better. The turning radius is too wide and, just in general, it feels like you're driving around on ice.  Also, it would be really nice to be able to fullscreen it. I kept clicking out of the game waaaay too often.

Developer(+1)

Did you play the post jam version? I tried to address a few of those issues :D thank you for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Definitely need to add fullscreen too, it just keeps slipping my mind for some reason haha

A lot of GTA-ish fun! Could use a minimap or something so you can see a little more, but otherwise great job!

Developer(+1)

thanks! :) GTA was a big inspiration - and you're right either a minimap or just a zoom out would benefit it a lot

Also, thanks for your kind comments in the Discord! It's been a blast seeing how much people like our game

Developer

You're welcome. This has been my first proper game jam, and the feedback I've got from people has been so encouraging (especially Cameron in the Discord) - it's a lovely feeling!

Everything about this game was fantastic. I couldn't stop laughing. I didn't even get out of the starting parking lot for like 2 minutes, but it was still hilarious. The calm music, the otherwise chaotic sound effects, the shotgun sound effects when you send out the paper itself. The value for damage done being shown underneath the tiny amount that you make in successful deliveries, its all perfect. 10/10, way too much fun for such a simple game.

Developer

thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

I'm going to do a post-jam patch to make the controls a little more manageable, patch some bugs, add some more stuff and possible add a separate zombies mode ;)

Great game! Fun all around and it looks amazing. Still can't believe that the "3d" objects aren't actual 3d. Well done.

Developer

thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

The "3D" is a super super easy trick to pull off, especially in Game Maker - I followed this guide: http://www.like100bears.com/writing/2d-3d-in-gamemaker-studio

Fun stress-relief game, kinda like how i played old GTA games! who needs brakes when you can just spam space and create a tornado car!

Developer(+1)

thanks :) gta 1/2 was a big inspiration!

I didn't even know I had to deliver papers the first time through. I thought I was supposed to mow people down.

Still had fun. Maybe have different levels - one where you do a slalom course, one where you have to kill as many people as possible in the time, one where you do trick shots.

Well done, very enjoyable.

Developer

Glad you had fun :D I'm going to do a post-jam version with multiple levels and different objectives, etc! I'm also going to add a zombies mode ;)

Once I managed to get out of the parking lot this got pretty fun.

Annoyingly addictive! Steering can be tricky once the car has become stuck, would a reverse gear work to fix that? The concept would easily translate over for an app too

Developer

thank you! glad you enjoyed it :)

that's an extremely good idea, I can't believe I didn't think of that! I spend *ages* trying to balance it and eventually ran out of time - because of how the physics work just increasing the turn speed or reducing velocity doesn't help - but once the jam is over I'll definitely extend it!.

You're right on the app thing, too!

Good concept, way too easy to get stuck though and spacebar doesn't help much. If the car moved a bit slower and the turning wasn't as dramatic it would be more fun.

Developer

Yeah I found it super hard to avoid the getting stuck issue while keeping it easy to control the car - will probably tweak it after the jam! Thanks for the feedback!
