I did a playthrough of your game. Apologies for the gameplay and the music being out of sync. My recording device was making the game lag.
The music forcibly turning on/off your movement is in interesting concept. I personally think having to deal with this kind of movement is rather sluggish and limits player expression. Though I supposed it has its appeal as force jumping isn't an untapped design space(the music part is new).
However, having an air dash make up for it.
So does the level design. The branching paths of every set piece requires different combinations of jumps, timing, and air dashes. Effectively Solving the limitation I've mentioned above.
Maybe aside the graphics being kinda one note and how players can engage with the on/off theme, this game is an excellent argument for this kind of mechanic. 10/10

Solid game overall, though I couldn't beat the boss since my laptop won't let move my character around and throw a shuriken at the same time. Curse you, laptop!

Good news: I managed to beat the boss by enabling my laptop to allow keyboard typing and cursor movement at the same time and set touchpad sensitivity to max. Once I've made playthrough videos of other games, I'll make a playthrough video of your game.
Nice nice game! I liked the music and the art style. The only thing I would suggest is to change the first stage of the boss and make it the last one, because the second and third stages were quite easy compared to the first.

I absolutely love the boomerang mechanic, and I'm curious to know how you synchronized the jumps with the music's beat ( I wanted to do something similar in my game, like having camera shakes in rhythm, but I didn't quite manage it, so I ended up removing the camera shake ).
PS : The Boss is a little hard to beat, but I finally got it with patience...

Out of all the "you have a forced jump" platformers that I have played (those happen a lot in game jams for some reason) this is the most intuitive of all of them. Gameplay was restrictive, but engaging, and the soundtrack that backs it is stellar. The shuriken was great, especially during the boss, where the recall mechanic really shines.

Loved the music, loved the use of the boomerang extension, didn't love the jump-only-on-bass-drop mechanic. I had an enjoyable time with the game. Might need a bit of polish (like why is the character so tiny?), but otherwise high marks!

Really well put together game, althought the bossfight needs some more polish, and I would make it so the projectiles are destroyed when in collision with the floor and the player, cause it would be more clear when you’re hit and it would make the fight a bit easier (the amount of times I died while the projectile was stil passing thru the floor and walked over it is unimaginable), but the rest of the game is amazing

This is actually a really fun game, the level 3 music is a real banger, and I like throwing the shuriken around, though it can be a bit bothersome having to wait to jump, but other than that this game does perfectly what it sets out to do

One of the best game I've played in this jam. I end up playing the whole game which means it's interesting to play. I love that there's a boss fight in the end. (Like mine on level 6 lol)

This is a great idea, very original! I love how the story is told at the beginning, and also I love that the game is forgiving when you die, it encourages fast retries. I was forced to restart a level once because I couldn't throw my shuriken anymore, and sometimes waiting for the music to change was a bit long, but I had a great time, this is a smart game!
