I actually found it very satisfying that the gulp sound when I eat the viruses was mostly in time with the beat of the background music lol. Not sure if you planned that, but it felt good. The core game was decent and very easy to pick up and play. congrats on completing the Game Jam

Nice game! Very well presented all in all! My only gripe is that sometimes you just can't make it from the one side of the screen to the other, resulting in some frustrating RNG-hate moments! Especially if you don't want to have any of your cells damaged. Have a nice day!

This game has a potential to be something very good. Think about adding pickups or having to spend you score on potential upgrades for your white blood cell!

Keep up the good work!

Hey there! Im with my 10yo daughter testing games and here's our feedback!

Basic gameplay that can be expanded to be a great game. Reminds me of space invaders!

hmm but still, there's something missing. Because the character can only move but there could have been some sort of skill like rushing to move faster, or be slowed down by some sort of traps.

The mechanics to win... score being deducted by virus reaching the bottom is nice.  the music matches the hurryness of this game as well, like do everything quickly!

Thanks for submitting your game :)

P.D. Feel free to check our submission, and if you like it - give us an honest rating with some feedback. That is most appreciated to become better Developers!

Thanks to you and your daughter for the feedback, hope you enjoyed the jam.

A speed boost mechanic is the feature I most wanted to add but I ran out of time as only had 2 or 3 hours per day of the day of the jam.  I also wanted to experiment with different spawn patterns rather than pure RNG.

RNG?

Developer(+1)

Random number generation

Awesome job! This game is really good, and the SFX sound great. Maybe if there was a dash move, it would be even better, but overall, it's a great game! 👍

Developer

Thanks, yeah I really wanted to add something like that too but didn't quite have enough time at the end of the jam to get it in and properly playtested.

Nice game and well made.

Thanks for your comment

I'd love to experience some type of power ramping from both sides as the waves continue, maybe just make your cell move faster each wave but also add more enemies to compensate? So then by the end you're zipping around like crazy but it's super chaotic?

In any case, great job! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for some great ideas! There were quite a few things I wanted to try that didn't make it into the final game. This was my first jam and I underestimated how long I'd take to get the basics up and running and didn't want to add new features too last minute and leave the game either buggy, or not fun.

I like the virus protection idea. Personally I found the left to right a bit slow that you cant get from one side to the other fast enough, I made it to wave 5! Great aesthetics!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for your comments.  I agree totally that the inability to reach some viruses is the worst part, plus also lucky RNG spawning lots of viruses close together, making for an easy time when that happens.

Like with so many other games, features got dropped due to the time constraints. After the jam is over, I would love to add a speed boost mechanic for the player with a limited number of uses per wave and a minimum gap between consecutive spawns.

Nice game, I only made it to Wave 4 but was still fun. If you build on this would suggest adding different angles of entry or speed for the "invaders" or maybe add some sort of temporary power boosts to the player character

Developer

Thank you very much for your comments.  That is a great idea for an extension to the game.

I like the game, small game with a binding of Isac feel.

Developer

Appreciate you taking time to play and comment

Loved it! I got to wave 9, which is good for me lol. You've taken a simple mechanic and turned it into something immensely playable. My only suggestion for a possible improvement (and a fun programming challenge!) would be to experiment with different attack patterns as the waves progress.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I wanted to add attack patterns and maybe experiment with something other than RNG for the virus spawning but ran out of time.

You did well to reach level 9.  Thanks for playing!

Looks great, fun to play!

Thank you, very much!

Really interesting take on the virus theme and retro arcade vibe.
