Really fabulous and polished puzzle game, had fun playing it and would love to see more levels. I picked up how to play after one try and going back to read the instructions. XD

Developer

Hey, thanks a bunch for playing!! It’s even more addictive on mobile :P

That’s the plan and I already have a list of features to implement in just a day xD

My record is 206. I think I’m going to take a tranquilizer hahaha. A small and fast game with a mechanic that becomes addictive. It would be cool that as you advance the “board” gained squares and thus increased the difficulty.

Developer

Lol, never in my wildest dreams I’d have imagined someone having to take tranquillizers due to my game :P

Nice record btw, I’m just under 200 myself!

That’s a nice idea actually! Added to my TODO for after the jam. Thanks!!! xD

This is a fun little game. The fast paced gameplay is fun and addictive. Good job!

Developer

Glad you had fun!! The addiction is serious (especially on mobile build) :P

Game play is unique BUT

It is too bright for PC users!

Developer

Looks like I’ll have to take care of the dark mode peeps :P

Jokes aside, I’ll dial it down. Seems to be an issue. where Post Processing is brightening up the whites too much on some displays. Thanks for playing!

Very nice spin on the theme! Original and quite fun. Good job :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!! Glad you had a fun experience :D

Very polished and concept is very fast to grasp, but too simple of a gameloop for my liking, although I definetely had some fun for the first minutes. Maybe making the buttons change the scale by variable amount would benefit, because otherwise the best strategy seems to be press +, then press -, repeat

Developer

Glad you had fun! Yeah, the game is too simple for now since I was way too late to the jam :( I have a ton of features planned where the difficulty will increase with time, introducing some buffs/debuffs, things you should not press, etc. Thanks for the suggestions!

Regarding the spamming of + then -, I added a timer and randomization of icons, so it could be minimized to some extent, but yeah. Will be fixed in future builds. Thanks for playing!

I must be missing something because I am just not getting this game, not even after watching the YouTube or reading the (very sparse) instructions. I understand that the idea is to keep the scale balanced, but how? The most success I had was just clicking on anything that spawns as fast as I can but reading the other reviews it does not seem that that is the idea behind the game...

It looks great and plays smooth, even though I don't know how to play correctly ;P

Developer

Hey, so here’s a breakdown of the game:

  1. There is a slider with a positive (+) on the left, a negative (-) on the right, and a pointer in the middle.
  2. On the board, you’ll see plus (+) and minus (-) symbols popping up randomly.
  3. Clicking the plus (+) symbol makes the board bigger, and the slider moves towards the positive side. Clicking the minus (-) symbol does the opposite.
  4. Your aim is to keep the pointer away from the positive and negative sides; hitting either side means you lose.
  5. Keep an eye on the timer – if it hits zero, game over.

Let me know if that clears things up, and I’d love to hear what you think after giving the game another go. Thanks!

Yes this clears up a lot. The point of the slider at the top was totally unclear for me and what made it even more unclear is the fact that you can just slide the slider yourself as a player. I thought this was something I was meant to be doing.

After understanding the game I can tell you it is totally not my type of game, but that is not your fault of course ;P
It's very frantic but very simple, basically you just want to keep alternating between + and minus when possible, that way you only lose if a long string of only + or minus comes up. Not sure if this even is possible or that you get more + when you are small and vice versa which could cause you to go on forever.

Some thoughts on polishing/improving:
Switch the plus and minus on the slider, it's more logical to go from small to large
Have the whole cell register a click instead of only the button, it was frustrating to click just besides a button and then seeing it disappear
Have fullscreen working. Right now for me full screen is not working in FireFox. This also compounds my problem with clicking besides the buttons as the screen you are playing on is very small.

Thanks for clearing up your game to me !

Best I could do:

Developer (1 edit)

Oops, that’s DEFINITELY a BUG, I repeat, a BUG and not a feature lol.

Oh don’t worry about that., it’s not my type of game too. Not sure myself how this game came to be lol 😅

  • Yeah, true. I need to reverse that slider.
  • Hmmm, I didn’t face this clicking issue. Guess I’ll have to do some more playtesting.
  • That’s actually really weird! Did you try Edge/Chrome? I tried multiple window scales and the UI was scaling well for me. Let me know if it’s still bugged.

No problem!! Thanks for replaying my game and coming back with a great list of improvements. Highly appreciated :D

TIP: Try the Android build to 2x that number :P

Very polished, great job ! I was hooked up to it right when I understood it which didnt take long. Only thing that it is missing is volume settings. Nice game !

Developer(+1)

Hey, thanks for playing & the feedback!! Added the volume settings to my TODO for the game future updates :D

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

I'm addicted! This is genius. Love it on Android!

Developer(+1)

That’s how it’s meant to be played xD

Glad you’re addicted, my efforts paid off =)

Submitted(+1)

Really cool concept! great job!! A leader board would be perfect for this game if you can do that eventually

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!! Added the leaderboard to my TODO after the Jam ends! xD

Submitted(+1)

cool concept and the gameplay is kind of fun at first. the music gets a bit annoying after playing for a while (it is almost as if the game wants to distract you with the audio or something)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the great feedback!! I’ll add an audio slider down the line since not everyone likes to play at full volume all the time.

Submitted(+1)

Love how zoom-in and -out are used as visual hints of +/-! Would love it to be a bit more challenging after some rounds!

Developer(+1)

That perspective was the core how I interpreted the theme, and the game logic game after that xD

The game gets faster as you play, but the plan is to have a level-based approach maybe down the line.

Glad you liked it =)

Wow, super interesting concept! Don't think I've ever played anything like this before. I think the best way I'd describe it is it's kind of like playing tug of war with yourself? Surprised at how addicting it was, and enjoyed the sfx and the clean minimalist art style. I also thought the music was nice and kind of catchy.

Would've liked a bit more explanation in the beginning as to what "balance" meant, but after a few rounds I started to pick it up a bit more. I liked how the perspective zoomed in and out to to make it clear if you needed a + or a -.

Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Don’t mind me if steal this line “playing tug of war with yourself” since it describes the game perfectly well!! :3

Glad you liked the aesthetics!! The sound was from freesound.org but everything else from scratch.

Hmm true, the explanations can be improved definitely. I’ll try to do that in the future builds after the jam.

That perspective was the core how I interpreted the theme, and the game logic game after that xD

Thanks again, especially for that great description!!

Submitted(+1)

Hits theme is very fun I could waste hours if this was a phone game.

Developer(+1)

We have an Android version as well which you can download & play!! And it’s wayyyyy more addictive :D

Submitted(+1)

Crap I have an iPhone but I might have an old Android somewhere.

Developer

That’d be great. Or you can build for iOS from the GitHub project as well xD

Submitted(+1)

Nice!  It's clear what you need to do after screwing up just once xD.  This definitely has the potential to be addictive if not careful.

Developer

We all learn after screwing up :P Thanks for playing (it won’t be a bad addiction :D) !!

Submitted(+1)

Vey good game! Simple, but fun.

Developer

Thanks! Glad you liked the game.

Submitted(+1)

Love it! Simple and fun

Developer

Thanks for playing!!

Submitted(+1)

Good one! Simple yet fun concept, just the audio is a bit too noisy. Maybe add a sound bar :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the suggestion! Due to time constraints (made in 2 days), I couldn’t add those. Added to my TODO :D

Submitted(+1)

My favorite so far. Very simple and creative, I would give the audio 6 stars if I could.

Developer

That means a LOT! Thanks for playing :D
