Beautiful work! I loved the art, both the start menu and the cutscenes are amazing! The sound effects are also really good, Louise's voice is really cute.
Gameplay wise, this works well and it's pretty fun, at least for a time. The grapple is quite satisfactory and it's fun to jump among the circular saws in the first industrial levels... until it becomes too hardcore and tedious :D Once I finally reached the final level, I had the level freeze on me (gray screen), so I went to the source files to still be able to see the ending cutscene - which BTW didn't seem to show up, it looks like the animation was not autoplaying, but that might be due to me loading the scene directly instead of properly winning the game.
At first I felt that the rectangular and flat colored foreground was a bit too contrasting to the great cutscenes and nice character animation, but there's so much level design work for a 1 month jam game that I don't think you can be blamed for that :) And it avoids distraction with a busy foreground when the gameplay is so focused on precise timing.
Maybe I'm missing something, because this feels so relentless in how precise one must be... I've been stuck on what I think is the second level for the longest time, it's the first moment where I have to use the grappling hook and in all my attempts I was only able to hook onto it once, only for it to swing me right into death below. I really would love to be able to get further than that, because I adore the concept so much and the visuals, especially those backgrounds, are fantastic. I am a huge fan of the comic-style intro, it was such a cute way to start the game, I love how spooky the cat aliens look.
Nice graphics, I love the comic-like intro!
Great platformer you have here! The graphics and music are amazing, but the feeling of control could be better, lots of times the double jump doesn't trigger and you're back at the checkpoint. I died at one level (I think it's Level-Industrial-3) then the screen went gray and nothing happened, it got stuck there... Anyway, great game, love to see more Godot made games in jams. Congrats!
Intro's the best. Graphics are good, but levels could improve "readability" (more contrast, different colorus or parallax).
The game has a lot of charm, but it's frustrating. Controls don't feel right and the gameplay is unforgiving. I dreaded the sections where I had to use the grappling hook, cause I didn't have much control over it. A grappling hook should be fun!
But what really made me quit was the amount of waiting for all those lights to align so I could go through the levels.
Regarding audio, it's ok. Background ambience feels ominous, while the character death sounds are cute.
A small "bug" I encountered was that the timer started before the level, though it's really something minor.
In brief, game looks really cute, but could use some polish.
i know you been told this already but real good work with the graphics
the jump mechanic could be improved though, it seems you have a hold to have higher jump mechanic but that makes double jumping really hard, just a suggestion
Very nice presentation. I found the level design slightly lacking though, as you're able to grappling hook over a lot of the challenges. I think this style of platformer also benefits from frequent checkpoints. I made it to the swinging blade levels, but unfortunately the game crashed so I didn't make it to the end. The graphics were definitely the highlight of the game, very polished.
Thanks for playing, and your advice. Do you remember which level the game crashed?
It was the second or third spinning discs level. I think I died, the screen faded, and it didn't return.
It's my favorite game so far. The sounds when he died just broke my heart every time.
Nice art and good concept :)
I tried moving with the arrow keys, I automatically died doing that (dont know why). It was kind of awkward for me to play with one hand on the keyboard.
Whoops, The right arrow key was a instant death we used in debugginh, I guess I just left that in
Haha tried the same thing and died multiple time... I know why now ^^
Really great game by the way !
Beautiful artwork, especially the comic snippets used in the intro of the game really well done c:
Thank you so much! :D
Really loved the Soundtrack!
