This was a really solid top down shooter. I liked the shooting mechanic, the movement felt awkward but I got use to it! Nice work!
This was really interesting to play. I love the W forward + Mouse direction mechanic. I was surprised to noticed that shooting stopped you and as others have mentioned, it makes dodging impossible. But, I do think there might be a solution to it and turn that into your favor.
Like, there was this enemy that has two guns on each side facing forward so it can shoot two bullets at once but the freezen gun can only cover one of the bullets in a face to face shooting, but there was a part of the level where I took cover from this enemy and I was able to literally cover myself from the second gun while blocking and attacking the enemy.
I found that pretty cool, so you could use some level design to balance the lack of dodging, could also make those 2-gun enemies be static so you know before hand how to position yourself to attack them.
The possibilites are endless really, very cool game!

I am not a fan of the controls. WASD for movement would be much better for the gameplay than W and mouse direction controls. Because of the controls dodging has no meaning since you have to stop in order to hit the enemies. The art for the UI and the environment is lacking but the polishing you have done is great. Enemy death effects as well as the particle of the freeze gun are very satisfying.

The particle effect on the weapon is awesome. It was very hard to dodge the enemies though; you could have given them a slight delay in tracking you.

The gameplay is smooth and fun, the controls are well assigned, and the visuals/sounds do well to enhance the overall game feel. There were times I found shooting enemies to be impossible without taking damage, and perhaps an alternative defence mechanic like strafing or shield would be helpful in those situations.

Nice! The particle effect of the gun is really beautiful. It was different from the standard top down shooter in that you were static while shooting - but you could shoot the projectiles, too. Challenging, but fun.

I don't really understand the game design choice of giving the player a DOT weapon while simultaneously not letting him move while using it : you have to hold your position to kill the enemies, but that means you wont be able to dodge their fast bullets and the little homming missiles
I think your game would be instantaneously far better if you let the player move while firing or at least laterally to dodge with more ease

Thank you for playing! Yeah, I agree with the dodging problem. It looked bad when I kept movement enabled, in hindsight probably should of fixed it instead of just disabling movement. Thanks for the great feedback.
Shape rush is definitely my favourite jam game I made!
