Such a cool idea! I found it quite tricky but this is a really great game, so impressive to be made in a short amount of time! Great job :))

I really liked this game it was really fun and also unique but I couldn't get past the second level. I think its because the drawing canvas was cut off and I couldn't draw the whole image. Really good game congrats on the submission

Developer(+1)

Sorry for that cut off image but you can always pass the level if your accuracy is greater then 50%, you could have left out the corners and still cleared the level, You can also use the eyedropper tool on the reference image to save time and use the paintbucket tool for quickly filling large sections of the painting.

Ah that'll explain why I kept failing. I was using the paint bucket to fill everything white first (including the tiles I couldn't see. This must've made my painting not accurate enough). Really good game though, good work

Developer

Here is a vid of me clearing the second level with 100% accuracy.

This was a great concept! The painting was fun, the only issue I had was the very last row of pixels on the canvas was partially cutoff so I couldn't easily click them, other than that, very well polished experience!

Very fun entry with a great premise. The art and writing are really appealing

Super unique interpretation of the theme and loved the artwork. I had the issue where the reference was cut off on the right as well.

But overall, splendid work. I'm giving top points for theme and art!!

Wow, very fun, good take on the theme! Honestly I find the first painting to be harder than the rest, lol. I kept losing a lot there and didn’t even get 100% on that one, got like 52% iirc Pretty cool game, would’ve love having a small pause in-between paintings (like only passing to the next on user input) cause it was very intense to finish a painting and go right to the next one.

I made the art for the game and I had a very similar experience to you. I often had to lose a 'rehearsal' run of the levels and plan out my next run to pass them. On the other hand, the programmer @dreamn_skull was able to 100% the whole thing! Glad you had fun anyways :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

The programmer showed me a gameplay clip of them doing the first level super fast, and I learned a HOT GAMEPLAY TIP: You can color-pick on the example art; doing this makes a *huge* difference in making the gameplay easier. This means 1. you don't have to use the palette scrollbar system and 2. you don't run the risk of getting a slightly 'off' color.

Submitted

Wait, color picking the art was not the thing I was supposed to do? lol I was doing exactly that lmaoo

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

You know you can also match up artwork by looking at the pixel coordinates and you can also use the paintbucket tool that works exactly like paintbucket tools in sprite editors. You can also use the eyedropper tool on the "Reference Image".  If you did all that, I dont know how you were bad at the game.

I just played the first painting, got around 50% again

And then I noticed it… I didn’t see there was a dark color background in the painting, lol

Now I reached 90%

Developer

Use paintbucket tool for large areas/sections of the painting and you will do great.

Great entry!

Great entry! The edges were a bit cut off for me but besides that really fun! Didn't manage to beat them all, wasn't sure how many there are and I was playing for a long time XD

Submitted(+1)

Very unique idea, really liked it! Genuinely intense having to hide haha. I could maybe have done with having the image you have to replicate blocked out too so I knew exactly where to place the blocks, but then maybe that would have taken from the gameplay. Generally very good entry, nice one!

This is a really good idea for a game! It looks well polished and provides a good challenge. It may have just been my PC but is some of the reference picture cut off on the right? I really liked the text effects as well. They add some good character to the game. Good job!

Impressive! Challenging yet still doable with a bit of preparation. Good job!

Very crisp looking and sounding game with exciting gameplay when that king comes running around the corner. It makes you laugh and sweat and panic. Good game!

Submitted(+1)

Very well made and polished and creative idea, i have no clue how you made this in godot congratulations

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, the painting mechanics were entirely made using Image and ImageTexture classes, very useful stuff ngl.

Submitted(+1)

omg I love this game so much (^v^)! I felt the thrill when the king was coming to watch if I was pirating the painting hahaha

Submitted(+1)

Great idea! Honestly way more thrilling than I thought it would be. Great gameplay loop. Only real critique is that the tutorial shows up after every fail state.

Developer

I had some cases where people would just jump right into the game without reading the tips and so I made it appear every time you failed the 1st level so you can read it, if you missed the 1st time.

Gotchya. That makes sense, now that you say it. Good thinking
