I liked the compact level design, with loops and new segments opening up. Traversing it a bit back and forth felt very natural and not at all annoying to go hunt for “where did what change this time”. So that’s very well done with that.

Not being able to do much about the shrooms in the beginning and they moving quite erratically and not even knowing if they were hostile or what combat rules were did add a bit of suspense but also a bit of annoying shuffling back and forth just for them to get out of the way.

Finding the book was a nice dramatic moment, and then blasting away. It would have been nice though in general with some clear feedback on when I hit an enemy (how much range did I have, was there a hit chance, that type of thing). I don’t particularly need an healthbar on them but some indication that I’m doing the right thing.

Though it was quite balanced. As you an see in the playthrough, I lost track of my sanity and health was getting a bit low at one point. And while it’s cool that I regen both while walking around it meant I stayed put in a room just shuffling around. And that wasn’t very fun. So perhaps the regen can increase with each game tick where I wasn’t taking damage. Like start regen after 5 rounds out of combat, and add +1 to regen power on each tick after that.

Movement was fast and nice, but I did end up double moving a couple of time.

Short, but well made entry!

Cool crawler! I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be doing at first but once I got the magic and the kickass music kicked it, I had a good time. The dungeon messing with you and changing around was cool and killing the bad eyeball thing at the end was fun.

There could be some more feedback during combat like how the azure ring spun around, maybe something on the mushroom. I also would like to have seen some traps or puzzles, but otherwise a solid entry!

At first I was afraid.

I was petrified.

I was getting clobbered with madness by mushrooms.

Then I found a book.

And a mid-80s heavy metal band started playin.

Then I was zapping those mushrooms with what I assume was the Power of Rock.

Then I died of madness.

Good game.

I really like the implementation of the dungeon itself warping and changing and playing trick with your mind. The gameplay was pretty good, the music was kickass and, although Im' not 100% sure what was happening with the Azure Ring and the strange mushrooms, I did have fun destroying all of them.

Would have liked a bit more combat feedback, but other than that, pretty good stuff.

Interesting ideas at play here, with the changing layout and the health/madness mechanics. The fact that there is an internal logic to the level changes is fantastic, because I was able to learn how the dungeon "behaves" which is really cool, as opposed to just random layout changes which would have been frustrating.

I will say that moment when you pick up the book and the music hits that kind of 80s power rock bass line starts going and the synth kicks in, is RAD.

I wasn't quite sure if I did the right thing to finish, I found what I think is the boss but I wasn't able to kill them before I died.

Some really cool ideas here, a good entry. Well done!

The Azure ring is dead.

The scope is not huge but the game is what I'm here for, a metal vibe, instant movement (perfect perspective too), fast combat and the best part a satisfyingly at least slighlty confusing maze.

This is a solid game, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for that game, I was in a bad mood today (broke stuff, made a big mess while cooking etc.) and then just before I wanted to go to bed, I told myself to check just one last game for today. It starts normal, nice graphics, hyper active movement (good), enemies more on the boring side, a map that fu**s with my mind a bit, nice music and then POWER FANTASY. I zapp all those mushroom dudes to hell. A couple of cool lines from our cool heroine make it perfect and then "THE AZURE RING IS DEAD"...GOOD! Lets me sleep better :)

I like snappy controls. The changing of the dungeon's layout after specific events is a very good idea. Combat is very simplistic and there's only one type of enemy. Graphics and atmosphere is not bad but it could be better. The game kinda has a early 00's vibe like Wizardry 8. I like the  music. At the beginning of the game there's a dream like musing like Shin Megami Tensei 1's dream sequence. When you get the magic book it changes to rock music. I don't understand how you can beat the game. I found a circular creature with a big mouth full of teeth and struck it with lightning, it started spinning but didn't happen anything afterwards. I kept wandering the same corridors over and over again. What did i miss?

Anyways, pretty solid game with good ideas. Can be improved in some areas. Still a great achievment for 9 days time limit. Nice job!

Super nice entry to the jam. I really liked the movement as well as the simple graphics, there is no queue for commands but since they are performed so fast you don't need them. Just hold the keys. I liked the morfing dungeon that changes shape. I think this can become something great with more content and some more mechanics. The combat was a bit basic, some enemies end up standing not in the middle of the tiles.

Good Job I liked it!

I beat the Azure Ring! I love how madness is used both as a resource for magic and sort of a secondary life bar.  Starting over from the beginning was a bit frustrating at first, but it's not a very long game so it's fine. I loved how the game is split between the first half where you have to flee the enemies and the second half where you actually chase them to make them taste your lightning  😁The fact that both your health and sanity is replenished makes you basically immortal, I would have maybe disabled that for health and added healing spots or items.

Great job, with a lot of polish!

Beat the game. Twice! The end screen closes easily - couldn't read what happened first time.

Liked little chatter and taunts from character. Nice idea :)
