I enjoyed this one. It had a cool combination of ideas and it was fun.

OK I understood the picture below completed the game, it was fun.

I don't think you can equip the Legendary shield, also I went out of the map once, and since there were things about seeing in the dark I didn't immediately realize it was likely a bug and not a feature, then the game crashed when I tried a stairs there or something I think. Really nothing.

The scope is right. The big open structure covering a large part of the game is cool.

I really like that you can get equipment from some catched enemies.

Most of all there are more dungeon mechanics than in most games in the jam, so as someone who associates crawlers of this kind with dungeon mechanics first and foremost that makes it a game more than worthy of interest, with small dungeons ressembling proper dungeons and a big overall dungeon working as a good, non-linear enough, dungeon in my book.

I mapped the game by the way, when I realized there was an automap, about halfway in, I decided it was more fun to map it anyway, mapping places with inverted gravity parts was some cool brain stimulating challenge, first time I've ever done that.

Good job.

Thanks!   I'm glad you enjoyed the game.  It's cool knowing you played all the way through and found most of the secrets too.  I noticed that Legendary Shield bug last night, turns out I'd forgotten to set the equipment class.  The other bug might be harder to fix, I've seen it once or twice but couldn't trigger it again.  My guess is large maps occasionally won't load all the way before you reach areas far from the starting point.     Do you remember which area it happened in?   I found it when rushing from one side of the Temple area to the other.

It was the entrance floor of the area with green walls which is the closest to where you rest, I think it is indeed the temple but I preferred to describe it because I might mix names.

Developer

Yeah, that's the place.  Thanks, good to know it was the same area.  I'll experiment there and try to fix it.

it opened to a black screen - nothing else

Seems to be a known issue for some people trying RPG Maker MV games.  If you search RPG Maker MV black screen you might find more on it.  The causes vary, some people just had to change their antivirus settings.  Sorry I can't be of more help.

so i tamed a kraken.

and i got a gravity stone. i think that was a cool addition.

Yeah, I second the RPG maker negativity a bit, but then again I dislike Unity much more. You made a really nice game, with a cool twist with an "inferior" tool and that I can respect. Nice selection of graphics and good and smooth gameplay.

Pokemon meets Dungeon Master! Nice concepts with the upside down mechanic, it added twist. The inventory system was nice. Audio was very GameBoy and fitting for the combat, but perhaps not so much for the dungeon bits.

You have 190 levels in there. That's 27 maps per day! What's your secret? Are they all randomly generated?

Thanks!  There's not that many maps in the game, I just have a bunch of unused map files (mostly test maps and duplicates as backups).  In hindsight, I should've cleaned up the folders before uploading to make the file size smaller.

Plays really well, the gravity switching mechanic was unexpected and a fun way to add verticality to the levels. I captured a kraken, nuff said!

Full disclosure. I am not a huge fan of RPG Maker games. That being said I did enjoy a bit of crawling in this one and the graphics, enemies particularly, are nice. Good job :)

Really nice game! The writing is nice and I like the spin on the Monster collection. (I'm a huge SMT and I have a soft spot for RPG Maker games tho so I might be biased a bit hahaha.)

Thanks!  I'm glad you enjoyed it, seems like we have similar tastes.
