Miles From Home is the story of a man facing a crossroads. A cycle in his life having ended, he's forced to make a decision on what new beginning that ending breeds.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
No, we used several third party assets.

I love the art and atmosphere, with the city buildings visible on the right! I really like the voice acting and narrative, too :D My one complaint is that I feel like the road is a bit too empty and has a huge lack of detail. Maybe some more cars passing by, or some dust particles flying through the air would do it. But still, great job on this, though!

Very cool voice-over, the whole narration is pixel perfect ! It's quite relaxing to play the game. I feel that the road is a little bit empty though.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I know the road was empty 😭

You just had to see the chaos it was when cars were with the player, unplayable. So the road stayed empty and the cars stayed on the other lane, far away from player contact, and it was good, because you could actually reach the end without crashing against a bazillion cars.

Maybe in an post jam update, who knows.

Beautiful game with a great take on the narratives, well done to the three of you !

The narrative and voice acting are superb! I like how each details emphasizes the theme, and how coming in terms with things that just don't work anymore was portrayed. Playing this game also feels as if you're watching a short film, it just works. Great work to the team behind this art!

Developer

Thank you very much for the feedback!!

Pleasant atmosphere and much more, even more interactions with the car.A pleasant visual part of the game, the gameplay.

very beautiful game, i chose to exit the heighway and go back, i needed holywood dreams!

I love the narration it is very unique from all the other games so far. The story really kept me hooked. Also nice attention to detail with the mirrors and how they actually reflect!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!! 😊

Very beautiful, very atmospheric, what a great presentation!

Really interesting experience! I got a little distracted trying to keep the car straight because after I touched the controls it seemed impossible to go properly straight again. The narrative was engaging, and Drew has a great narrator voice!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback!! I tested it so much without moving the car, by the end I just got used to only moving the mouse 😋

Really got drawn in. Relatable because we're also near LA... and similar circumstances.

I stayed in the right lane.. and the game faded out.. is there more if you decide to head toward LAX?

great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback!! If you change lanes there's just another text for the ending, but both fade out.

nice! Yeah my gf (who's not a gamer..yet..she did the art for our game and is hooked so it's inevitable) was watching me play and she's like "what that's it?! That's not a game!" And I snapped back with "YES IT IS and it was great!" Then I gave it high ratings while she watched. :D Was the only actually touching experience I've had reviewing submissions so far. So thanks for that. Well done

Developer

I'm so glad you liked it!!!

I'm really curious how it'll end for our protag!

Nice narrative game. Pretty rare to see a game that's narrative focused in a jam. The environment looked great as you were driving by and the little slow down effect as the player reached the two possible options was great. The narration was nice as well as the addition of subtitles. The controls tutorial was a really nice addition and the little polish touches were great such as functioning side view mirrors

Great voice acting!

This was a very enjoyable experience. I'm not sure if I made the right decision but it sure felt good!!
The lighting and voice acting was very well done.

Developer

The right the decision is the one that doesn't involve taking the curve. F**king curve...

I clung  to the past and failed :P

Nicely done! Someone has been clearly working hard!

I really like the creepy vibe the game gives off

Developer

Maybe 🥺❤

Well, I have to love another game that used the theme as narrative! I tried to do the same, but I feel like yours nailed it.

Like others have also mentioned, the atmosphere is fantastic both visually and the calm, contemplative voice acting.

Even though the actual gameplay is simplistic, I loved the crossroads slow-mo, felt very cinematic and artistic. Oh, and thank god for the respawn button! :)

Developer(+1)

The respawn button is a must in every game. I never leave home without it!

REALLY good atmosphere for a jam game
