This is just impressive all around. I can definitely appreciate the amount of work that went into this. It was fun, the music and art was awesome, and the game was interesting enough to make me want to play long enough to improve and overcome the difficulty.

Developer

Thank you! We are really happy to hear that our hard work is appreciated, there were sacrifices! I hope you enjoyed the game once you improved enough, it can be finished in less than 3 minutes by the way!

Fun concept, used the theme well. Love the graphics and animations, they are gorgeous. I thought it was extremely clever putting the tutorial in the menu. My only issue was that gravity felt a little strong making it pretty difficult to land on the platforms effectively at times.

Developer

Thank you for the nice words, our artist definitely did a great job! We are happy you liked our ideas! Making platformer's movement is hard, most options feel nice but are either wrong or miss something, thank you for the feedback, we learned quite a bit and will do better next time!

Submitted(+3)

lovely game! The key bindings are a little frustrating and not intuitive for me, but overall, the game is nice! I see you have put quite the efforts on this! Good job!

Developer

Thank you, i believe the key bindings are similar in other popular platformer games too, but i think its mostly a preference, we will highly consider settings with key binding  next time we make a similar game! We are glad the effort was visible and I hope it somewhat delivered!

I love a good platformer, and this is one of them! I loved the music, you guys nailed the theme, and I am in love with this character design, she seems like someone who's not afraid to take on anything. The levels are all so well designed (I love designing levels myself), I enjoyed this game so much, excellent work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Everyone in the team worked really hard on the game, we are glad it delivered! Not sure the levels are that well designed though, I didn't get to focus so much on level design alone, so it's still a mess when it comes to difficulty spikes, I tried to invent ideas that would be somewhat ordered by difficulty while also building on the previous ones, but with limited time, space and experience, the difficulty can spike quite a bit in some areas, well it was a great learning experience and with all the feedback i know how i'd do it better now!

Thank you for playing, if you feel like it, you can also try to find the secret area in the pre-boss level, its not that hard to find, but its very easy to miss!

What a beautiful art style! I love the character and i wish i would be better in these kind of games. For me it was quite difficult. I didn't get far, but i enjoyed it very much. I especially love the details buried in the earth, like bones or unreachable little mushroom caves. <3 Also, your take on the theme and implementation into a game mechanic is very well done!

Developer(+1)

We are really happy to hear that! I wanted to make the levels more interesting with the little caves and our artist spent a lot of time decorating everything to the point we might have overworked her a bit, it's definitely nice to know it is appreciated! It took us a while to discover the idea, and we now know a slightly better one that would improve the difficulty curve, we learned a lot though so we will make sure the next game will be more accessible for everyone while also still will offer a challenge!

It's beautiful. Too challenging for me, but really impressive. I struggled with not over-jumping/dashing the next ledge very often.

I feel like I didn't actually see a lot of the world, but you did an awesome job here with the unique style and game mechanics. Kudos!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for leaving us a nice comment despite the game being too difficult for you, its quite difficult for some of our team members too!

Submitted(+4)

Wow what an amazing little experience! Felt so professionally put together and planned put, loved the implementation of the mechanics and the art style! My one gripe is that something the colliders freak out a bit and screw you out of a jump, but the checkpoint system was forgiving enough to compensate, amazing job

Developer(+1)

Thats awesome to hear! We are more than happy you had an amazing experience and to receive such a nice praise! Yes, the unity's collision system wasnt the greatest for our game, and if this wasnt a short game jam, we would definitely make our own, but time was very limited. Thank you!

Submitted

yeah those unity colliders can be a bear, do you know the trick of making a frictionless physics material?

Submitted(+3)

Nice game and nice atmosphere!

Developer

Thank you, we are glad it was delivered!

Submitted(+3)

Wow!!!!! This was incredible! I ADORE your art style! The background was so nice and Beth's character design  is great! The mechanics themselves are well implemented and I thought the design of the levels were really really well done as well! The music is nice and relaxing which partners well with this lush greenscape you have going on! Wonderful work and fun game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! We are overjoyed that you like it so much, really makes all the effort worth it!

Submitted(+3)

This was super cool. I love the switching block mechanic.

Developer

We are glad you liked the mechanic because we spent half of the first day just scrapping every other idea!

Submitted(+3)

I really love the art and style of this game. One of my favorites so far :) Great job!

Developer

Thank you! Being one of your favorites really makes our day and makes the whole hard week worth it!

Submitted(+3)

The music is really nice. The character designs are fun to look at, simple but sweet.

Developer

Thank you, we are glad you liked the music, our guy was really pessimistic about it so its nice to get a comment! Our artist was overworked a bit so thanks for giving her some love too!

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Please let your music guy know that the work put into it is appreciate as it suits the game well and to be honest, most of the game was me just running around the start watching the character jump around with the oversized backpack and listening to the music as I am not use to platformer games but despite that it was fun to play.  I hope to see more of your team's work, although hopefully, after some well deserve rest. Take care of yourselves!

Submitted(+3)

Definitely one of my favorite games so far. The art is great, the game mechanics are fun and clever, and the music is really nice! Also love the design of the boss. My only note would be that the z/c setup made moving around a little cramped, but other than that great game overall!

Developer

Thank you! We did not expect such a comment, especially when 2 of our members are trying game jams for the first time. We are happy you enjoyed it, it makes the week all worth it! And ye, we couldn't decide what buttons to use for the mechanic, but if im not mistaken this combination is pretty standard in platformer and emulators. Everything could solve an option to change the input but theres so little time already we just focused on other stuff!

Submitted(+3)

great submission: art, music, gameplay, good job!

Developer

Thank you, we are great to hear that!

Submitted(+3)

controls were a bit tough, but i loved the game as a whole!

Developer

Thank you! We are aware it can be difficult to play, sorry if you struggled!

Submitted(+3)

It's a little bit uncomfortable the controles but the graphics and music are nice :D. I like you game!

Developer

Thank you for the nice comment, we really appreciate it!

Submitted(+3)

Really lovely platformer! The controls were smooth! The art style is amazing too.

I used arrow keys, but Z & C was a little tough - maybe the keys were too close to each other?

Developer

Thank you for the nice comment!

Im not sure having them too far away from each other is the solution tho, because you need 3 keys in total and spacing them out would mean using half of the keyboard at once. Thanks for the feedback though!

Submitted(+3)

Really fun game. Love these kind of platformers!

Developer

Thank you, platformers are awesome in their own way!

Submitted(+4)

This game is amazing! I love the little attention to detail like the different-coloured particles when you walk on the ground. I'm really having a hard time believing that this was made in a week. Amazing job!

Developer(+1)

We are so happy to hear that! I'm really glad you noticed the details and especially the particles - you're the first one to point that out :)

Submitted(+2)

Nice littel platformer...My one suggestion would be to set the dash button somewhere else where you could use your right hand ... Nice work

Developer (1 edit)

Hi! Did you perhaps play the game differently or are you used to a different setup?

Our initial goal was to have the player use the ARROW keys with the right hand and the ZXC keys for the left hand.

Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted

Well I used A-D instinctively although the little tutorial says direction keys...=)

Developer

Haha yeah, that's a little mistake on our part. We wanted to remove the AD bindings but it kinda slipped our minds:D. You can try playing it with the arrow keys now:D It's definitely better
