Hi.
The artwork of the game was pretty nice and I liked the concept of the game, like getting your parts back to become bigger, but I think there wasn't much of a difference to the last state. Like, the player didn't get stronger or faster, just bigger (at least, it wasn't notorious that the player became more powerful). So the mechanics, which I found interesting at the beginning, became repetitive over time, and the goal became not something that I wanted to see what happen but more like "let's get this over with".
I'm sorry if this feedback comes as negative criticism or just throwing bad energy. On the contrary, I think that your game with more polish could have had a really good execution for the great and original idea you guys had.
Hope this can be helpful in some way.
Thanks for playing and taking the time to give us your feedback too. I agree with you about the mechanics needing to evolve over time. We really like this concept too so we will probably be adding more mechanics as soon as we can. The idea is to have you get different powers and attacks as you get more body parts. We also want to make the enemies more interesting and diverse. We were thinking bugs and things might be cool. Some other people suggested that too. We really appreciate all the feedback we get and we're very grateful to everyone who's played and let us know where we could make improvements.
I'm really glad that you guys didn't take it the wrong way.
I will play the next version of the game when it comes out :)
Thanks for following! We are excited to add more stuff to the game. :-)
I really liked the art and animations when 2 body parts connected.
It took me a while to get to the first part because I kept getting launched in the air randomly when trying to attack enemies, but kept playing nonetheless because I was curious see how the zombie would look in the end lol.
Thank you so much for commenting. I was really happy to get the animation done for the body parts connecting. I finally figured out how to get a particle effect to instantiate in the right place at the right time! lol The toe getting launched was sort of an intentional thing. We found the bug and decided it was a fun little challenge but I think, based on all the feedback, that we should remove or limit it. Apparently you can get flung straight over the other body part and miss it entirely! So that's not ideal. Thank again for playing and I am really glad you played through to see the zombie pull itself together!
Cool idea, I kept playing because I was interested to see how the zombie looked assembled. I would have liked to see some new gameplay mechanics introduced with new parts being added, it got a bit repetitive after a while.
Yes absolutely, I agree. Should have given more time to added new mechanics as you got each body part. Definitely something to add later and to keep in mind for the next one. Its fun seeing the zombie pull himself together. I love weird projects like this. Thanks for playing. We really appreciate all the feedback we get. Especially the stuff that helps us get better.
Gross! And I mean that in the best possible way; although simplistic in nature, this game's quirky theme and aesthetic kept me going 'til the end. Great stuff, I'd love to see more! :)
Thats awesome! Thanks so much for playing and for the feedback. Check out some of our other games if you're into weird gross stuff too. SUPERBUG is pretty freaky. Lol
nice game :D the animations were neat, and I liked that the background grass also was animated :) I like the game idea, very unique :D I enjoyed playing and collecting the body parts :)
Thank you so much for noticing the animated grass! lol That was a pain to get working. Glad you had fun with it. I love playing as the legs and hips myself. Freaky!
It was a fun experience to play through this game. The animations and the visuals are pretty nice. I was loooking forward to see the next body part of the zombie.
We are glad you had fun like it. We were hoping people would be intrigued to see how the zombie grew over the different levels. Thanks for playing and letting us know what you thought of it.
To be honest, I was really looking forward to play your game after reading the description. But somehow it was too buggy for me to play it. I never encountered any other bodyparts, only colored balls, and in every try after a couple of minutes while still having all hearts I got smashed into to space and the toe just keept flying rotating there.
Oh dear! I am sorry it wasn't working well for you. The toe is a little wild but usually come back down to earth! lol Not sure why you weren't able to find the other body parts. I will take a look and see if I can figure it out and fix it. I locked the rotation on the Z axis in the other level but we were enjoying letting the toe fly around a bit. Maybe we should lock it down or limit it a little to make it more consistent. Thank you for your feedback and I hope you will try again to see if you can get a little further. It is fun when the body parts come together. Let us know if you still are having trouble with it. I think spamming spacebar is a pretty good strategy! lol Got to add more mechanics really. Thanks again.
Okay, I played it agaun and now I have some further feedback, I hope this will help you improve on your fun little game.
I got knocked up in the air again, but this time I waited for the toe to fall, if the toe falls before it has passed the foot, then all is good, but if it lands behind the foot it is an instant game over for the player, which feels off.
Besides that, like others have mentioned smaller bugs or worms or so could fit as better enemies. And I feel like the movement change between leg and lower body isn't consistent. First the leg jumps and is bendable, then with the second leg, both are stiff. I think it would feel more constistent if either it's stiff in every iteration or at least bends a little when connected to the hip.
And last, it's mostly just walking forward and spamming spacebar at the moment, maybe you could make spaceial hitboxes connected to the animations to hit the enemies, then your game could work with a cooldown for the attack and less enemies, but more impactful at the same time.
That's great, thanks for having another go at it. It is definitely helpful for us to get extra feedback. I can sort out the toe in the air stuff pretty easily and the trigger for the win state too I think. I agree about the enemies and the animations too. I think that was more of a ran out of time kind of thing, but I would love to put more time into the animations. I like the idea for the hit boxes and an attack cooldown to add a little more strategy to the game play. Good call on added more mechanics and level variety as well. I will try to work hard on that for next jam as it is something I have received feedback on in the past, (game play being too easy). Really cool of you to give it another go and to give us such detailed feedback. It is the main reason to do jams for us. Getting player feedback helps us improve as developers so we are super thankful.
Sure, if you ever need some feedback or a testplayer. I'm streaming from time to time and could playtest your game there. This way you could get some live feedback https://www.twitch.tv/digital_sphear
Awesome! Thanks buddy. That sounds like a plan.
haha! GREAT game! left more detailed comment in the game comments :)
Talking about weird games ^^ Love the style!
Haha! Thanks buddy. Yep, we are all about the weirdness. These jams are great for getting strange with ideas. Can't wait for the next one.
Music = excellent, art = best I've seen so far during the jam, in fact it was what drew me to trying the game when I saw it.
Was a little confusing at the beginning and as the toe you can be yeeted clear across the map, which is kind of funny tbh!
I enjoyed it, the blobs didn't make a huge amount of sense as the main antagonists. Worms or beetles would've been pretty cool! Spamming the attack and move buttons makes it pretty easy so maybe an addition of more mechanics in future would be good.
Overall, great entry, I enjoyed it, and played until the end!
That’s awesome! I’m glad you enjoyed it so much. We felt the same way about the toe being able to fly! 😂 Decided to leave it in. Half wanted to add a section of space above he map with stars and satellites just for fun. Definitely agree about extra mechanics and more diverse enemies. The blobs were kind of a place holder but beetles and things were our end goal. Hollow knight style! Thanks for all your feedback. Our artist was very happy to read your comment. I’m pretty stoked you loved the music! Can’t wait to check out you’re submission too. 😁👍
Wow that music bops! I love it!
Thank you! Glad you like it. It was fun to make. :-)
This game is so unique and different from any game i have played so far, it is a bit repetitive though so i would look into adding some new mechanics
Awesome! Thank you. We really wanted to make something fun and different. I will definitely look at added more mechanics to mix up the gameplay and make it more fun. Thanks for the feedback.
This is hilarious and I love the aesthetic. Reminds me a bit of happy wheels. The gameplay was a bit repetitive, but I can tell y'all put a ton of time into the art. And the soundtrack is an absolute banger.
Thank you so much! We had a load of fun making the art and music for this one. Right down to the wire for the submission with all the animation and cut scenes but it was totally worth it. Glad you enjoyed it. We love getting weird with our games so this was the perfect opportunity! Can't wait to check out your game. Already found loads of awesome games this jam and we are really looking forward to the next one. I'll look at added more mechanics to the gameplay for this game to make it more interesting to play for sure. Cheers for the feedback.
Really good game. Reminds me of the old browser games I'd play in school years ago. Good job.
Cheers buddy! Glad you enjoyed it. I'll hop over to yours in a second. Looking good.
Really fun game, and also really weird. Good job :)
Thank you very much for playing! We loved your game too. Little poopy monkey is so cool. We love weird games too so your game is definitely appreciated. Keep up the strange work! ;-)
Those slimes look cute, but nothing stops me from thinking that they chopped up the zombie when he was still alive.
Oh my god you are totally right! That poor zombie is back from the dead to avenge their death. Those evil bloody slimes. Cute little buggers. lol
Woah, what a trip! I feel like you should put an epilepsy warning on that opening screen because it gave me stars in my eyes. I found the best way to progress each level was to spam space bar as fast as I could, but I genuinely did want to keep playing to find out what body part was next. Some variety in the skills required would have probably brought this to the next level for me. But I'll probably see the little toe crawling in my dreams...
That is an awesome comment. Thanks so much for all the feedback. We are glad you enjoyed yourself. We had loads of fun making the body parts come to life and there was much laughter as we implemented all the animations this week. Freaky little game right? You know you are spot on about the epilepsy thing, however our artist is epileptic so we tested it on her and she seems to be ok... so far! Might actually stick a note in the description though. I loved the toe too. Wiggling along trying to find the rest of the body like that is sort of heart warming. Looking forward to checking out your game. Thanks again for playing!
