In what way does your game fit the theme?
The more vacuums you have, the stronger you are against the bugs.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I made the code from scratch in SCRATCH (pun intended) and the art was made in pixilart entirely by me. The music and SFX were provided by scratch for free.

  • I wish there was a bit more player involvement other than just running away from the bugs

  • You can exploit the temporary invincibility gained by opening the shop

  • If you keep on opening and closing the shop, eventually the player will go invisible

  • Overall, good entry!

I love your game!!

The concept's pretty fun of buy and placing but maybe too common in many games (like buying, placing, and then watching how the things you placed work by themselves). But I really like the fact that you control this little artifact and have to be careful not to collide. That made your game so much fun.

I think it's very original and I really enjoyed it. Congrats!

I liked the concept.

However I feel there is almost no need to buy the other vacuums as it's fast to get to 300$, and it is a bit hard to die as you can buy lives for a cheap amount (which I do not mind).

I would like if you could buy more than one per vacuum as well, as seeing them speed killing the bugs would be fun.

There is a bug where the shop menu only stops the currently spawned entities, so anything that spawns after opening the shop will keep moving.

Regardless, it was quite fun! Congrats! I've left my rating!

Thanks for playing!

The gameplay is actually more interesting than I thought. A half-idle game is fun when putting myself in.

If there were some abilities that allow the players to dodge the virus would be cool.

Need more work on the graphics tho. The colour contrast is an issue throughout the game and the itch page. You can't change the game but please change the page lol

This game is cute and fun, the concept is great! Nice work.

Nice game! I like the fact you can buy things in the shop to get stronger. The concept of cleaning a computer is nice. Good job :)

Thanks!

Solid game, very surprised to see a game made in Scratch in a game jam which is honestly very unique as i have not seen a game made by Scratch in a game jam, so very good job on that, good job!

Summary

Hmm, I had to go on Scratch site, versus Itch to play the game... not sure how I feel about that honestly. I almost didn't rate, because I felt it was not a proper submission. Which is strange because it has a WebGL submission that says "click game in the description".

What I liked:

  • Originally, I didn't really think it had a strong theme connection because technically the player is not doing jack but running away, but I guess if you think of the bots as extensions (and it's sort of a reach), and not think about the player at all in the equation, then it's does have one.
  • Full game loop - after  I got all the bots, we had a win-screen!
  • The music was nice to listen to.

What I didn't like:

  • Run-about way to play the game itself
  • I couldn't restart the game in the game on death (with button), had to refresh or do Green Flag thing (which took a second to figure out, never done scratch)
  • Had to redo the tutorial because of refresh
  • The in-game text was hard to read (need better contrast/stroke)
  • Vacuum Sound fx hard on the ears (especially with more bots)
  • Sort of boring (subjective), just sitting and/or running away. No sense of urgency.
  • Bots move randomly
  • Took forever to get all the bots...but nothing really new was going on with the game

So-So:

  • The art was alright, it was fine for what it was representing. Enemies had animations. But I feel like a bit more work on the presentation could have been done.

Closing:

The random(?) movement of the enemies made it a little dull, had they been constantly tracking me (even slower), it would have at least made me think more than just type my review while playing (this is what I'm doing right now because there's so much downtime). Other than that, I feel playtime was artificially bumped up just because of high prices. Having, new enemies, bigger waves (this I noticed only once), each bot purchases, would have made the game more fun.

Otherwise, I would recommend since someone must have done the Unity WebGL thing, that the game just been done in Unity next time if you're going to be doing a web-based game anyway.

Congrats on the submission though, while I was a little hard, there were just a lot of little things that piled up, that I think if you thought about for next time, it will help improve the "fun factor" in your jam games!

Pretty decent game overall! Could make some changes with spawn rate and like what other people said about having a personal vacuum and skipping the tutorial. Other than that, great work :)!

This game needs some balance issues, especially considering how fast the bugs spawn in. Also, a skippable tutorial would be nice. Just a recommendation, if you want to try something similar to Scratch, try Unity Bolt! It uses visual scripting, and with no code experience needed. If you want a video link, here is one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQceChK-kC4. For one week, this is very cool! Good job!

Given that you have made the game in Scratch, I'd say that you've done well with the time allotted. I will say that with an engine change(to something like Unity) and fleshing out ideas, such as vacuum types, enemy variety and music. Good effort!

The game was really fun. The two complanits I have is that the tutorial seems kind of slow especially for a game jam game that you will play for only 10 minutes. I would have preferred to jump right in and figure it out as i go or you could have the text show while your playing to make it more interesting. The other change would be to give the player more agency. The player mostly dodges the whole time while the vacuum does all the destroying bugs stuff. Maybe you could attach the vacuum to the player or something or give the player more control over it. Other that though, the game and upgrades were really fun.

Good work, it's fun to play! Skippable tutorial would be nice.

Fun game! I was had fun trying to avoid the bugs! Just one problem with it being on scratch, I could open up the code and "hack" it.

This game was pretty good!

Submitted(+1)

This game was really hard, though I'm not sure if I played it right. Dodging all of the bugs was fun, and the upgrades were satisfying.

But, after I died, I had to go though the whole tutorial again, which was way too long. I wish that after the first time, you could just skip it.

Still, it's a fun game!

Hi,
I finished your game and I really enjoyed your concept, earning money to buy more vacuums to defeat bugs.
I found a bug in your game, that if I leave a shop, I'm immortal for a few seconds, so I just spammed it :D

It was really fun though.

Developer

Since the pause mechanic was glitchy, because enemies could still move while in pause, I added invincibility. But I guess that was just gonna create another problem.

I finished it !!! It's so fun watching the vacuums get the bugs as you avoid them. You really get a sense that you work together with them and it really fits the theme well. Great job!
Also Scratch has a special place in my heart so bonus points for that :D

Fun to play! Played all the way to the end :) Got kinda easy and slow towards the end. I think it would suit great that you would encounter bigger enemies that give more money. Positive rating :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for the feedback :)

Submitted(+1)

Good job! The idea is awesome and fits perfectly to the theme. The only thing wierd is that I got hit by an ennemi that was dead but when he was vanishing. In general, it's a great game =)

Developer

Yeah, because they are glitchy when they die. Be careful! ;)

Submitted(+1)

This got super hard towards the end! But I enjoyed it. I'd have loved some more variety, but overall a fun experience.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

No problem! Be sure to play and rate ours too
