This is actually a really cool game. it's chaotic but not too chaotic, it's the perfect balance, the visuals and music are great! It's pretty simple to understand after having a few cars smash into you and once you get it it's pretty fun! The radio is my biggest issue though, I really like everything about it, even the fact that it actually turns of the music when broken, but I have zero clue how to fix it, I see the dials for raising and lowering the number but I don't know what to set the number to, so most of my time is spent figuring that out. But it's still very fun, managed to pass 2 trucks, I did technically pass a third truck but I didn't fully get back onto to the road so it actually overtook me XD. This is really fun actually, would be cool to this expanded on a little, with a few little extra tasks to manage, maybe another lane on the road, this is just super fun! Great work!
It's not as well signposted as we'd like, but the idea is the correct station changes each time, and you can hold down the left mouse button to scan through the available frequencies. Really glad you enjoyed the game, and thank you for your kind comments!
Thank you, Mister Woodland! I’ve always had faith in you!
I LOVE the soundtracks, especially the hardstyle-ish one. The gameplay is enjoyable and has a nice feel. The textures are fine too. One problem I encountered was character looking to the left at the start of the run, unable to turn forward for few seconds, I assumed it was a bug but it didn't affect the game much. Fun game, good luck in the jam :)
We love the hardstyle music too! The initial version wasn't really headed in that direction, but one of the team flagged that it was kinda similar to hardstyle and then our sound guy Dape25 took the comment and ran with it. He absolutely knocked it out of the park :)
You're right about the head placement as well; unfortunately we couldn't get to it in time before the deadline. Thanks for your feedback, and glad you enjoyed your time with the game!
Haha I love them tooooo! Thank you for the feedback.
A fix to the issue you mentioned is already in our project, yet due to Jam upload restrictions we will wait till the voting process is over.
Really fun game, it does make you anxious trying to pass the truck while trying not to crash.
Definitely! It’s like real-life driving, but it’s a video game! Thank you so much, Grachu!
Giving you extra points just for the satisfying image placement on your game page, haha
This is a cool idea! The tension of passing as an oncoming car comes along is great, and really embodies the risk of the theme. Great art and sound fx!
Love that you liked it, haha! The idea really just came from placing things around, and I absolutely agree with you! Much love!
Pretty good game. It’s a little difficult to figure out how to pass trucks, but aside from that it’s perfectly fine.
Very nice (and very anxiety-inducing, which is the point =p)! That's a very original idea, and the execution is really good =)! The sound design is excellent (even if I admit that I would have liked some engine noises for my car, but that's just a nitpick), the graphics are great, and the gameplay is really fitting. Awesome job!
I love this. The graphics are charming, and it definitely threw me in the deep end with the tension and anxiety of driving on the road. The music/sfx options seem to only affect the main menu, and not the game itself, which is fine, just pointing it out.
Overall, I could actually see this being a real game with some more content, its just my type of game. Great job!
Haha very nice. People have accidents just be looking in the window, imagine managing all of this 😂
I like the way the car stays behind the truck until we really try to pass it.
The graphics are very nice and the music fits the game perfectly!
I know when we were discussing this early on, I really liked the idea of having to manage more than just overtaking the truck in front of you. With regard to the car position, it felt right to make sure there was still a neutral position, but force the player to make their own decisions about when to push next. There's an uncertainty, but it's up to you to take the risk and overtake ;)
Thank you very much for the kind words!
This was great, it's a real rush overtaking as a car barrels down the highway towards you. I really liked the radio breaking, a real sense of immersion when I too want the music back. Highscore 13000
Really glad you enjoyed it. I think the whole team has said something similar about the radio, I know it's the first thing I try to fix when I'm playing!
Wow, that was really funny and good, I liked it! But I noticed a bug: when the game starts, my camera always gets stuck on the left window. Still, this is a really good and addictive game 👀 +1 rating!
Don’t hesitate to rate my game too ;)
Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for the feedback! This is one of the bugs we saw, but we were too focused on other aspects of the game and we ran out of time. Right until the end we were trying to figure out what makes it fun, and all I can say is I hope we did a good job :)
You did a good job ! that was funny !
The game feels really good, and the concept is executed well. I felt that feeling of anxiety when overtaking and even just looking to see if cars were coming.
Feedback: I feel like there should be a sound for overtaking/accelerating and driving at a normal pace for it to feel more immersive.
Fully agree, I reckon this is the #1 thing missing right now. The oncoming traffic and truck all have engine sounds, but the car you're sat in doesn't... each time I remember this, I'm kicking myself. Thanks for playing and glad you had the experience we were trying to convey :)
Really enjoyed the risk factor and kept finding myself drifting into other lanes lmao, very fun and got 10697 score
Glad you liked the game! We tried to make sure you couldn't just sit still and be rewarded for it; you always need to push further forward. Of course I reckon we've managed to build a loop that's fun for just one more try. My current best score is 39350 for our game, while my best score for your game is still a quite low I think at $870 :)
Hello, I clicked on your game, because our submission also involves driving and I was curious how you interpreted the risk factor. I am amazed! The game is innovative and fun. I wish I could just take your background and place it in my game-great work on the visuals.
For the gameplay: multitasking while driving is risky and fun, I loved the handle and the gun but I struggled with the radio - I did't get the feedback whether I should click on it more often or what, so I didn't get that one. I lastet for 130 seconds, don't remeber the points tho.
All in all a great game. Congrats to your team and your game!
Thanks for playing, and thank you for the feedback! A couple other people have also told us they weren't sure they could hold the button down to keep updating the radio station (also works for the window). It's something for us to work on should there be a next time; communication is everything :)
Really good take on the theme
Definitely feeling the anxiety and risk but found myself playing over and over anyway.
SOLID work!
This game is a definition of "Driving (me) Mad".
10/10 games, 9/10 music, 0/10 stress inducing.
Thanks for playing the game! Sounds like we did our job pretty well based on your verdict.... ;)
Also, banging (my head off the road to get out ts, welp)!
wow this is great 10 out of 10 i love the gameplay and you made great mechanics i had so much fun great job also i found a glitch so that i flow into the sky lol
Thanks so much for playing, and I can't believe you found this as well XD
I found it a grand total of once during dev and it didn't repeat, so we've got a couple ideas what causes it but we'll need to do some digging!
it happened when i went of road and hit something
This is so run I love the chaos it made me super anxious
Very cool idea, you risk your life for a road overtaking.
The mouse sensivity is craizy
Thanks for playing the game! I've noticed this myself as well, which is disappointing because it only seems to happen with the web build. We did actually restrict the pointer movement speed on purpose, so we'll need to try and fix that. Thanks for the feedback!
If you want to try it again, we've just lowered the sensitivity by 50%; something we didn't know about WebGL builds from Unity, so we've all learned something new today. Thanks again for your feedback!
be careful to update your itch.io page on the voting period, this can ban you from Brackeys Game Jam 2025.2
dont worry too much, i play the game well, the sensivity is high but the game is still playable
To my understanding, there's a 48 hour grace period where builds are not locked to allow for bug fixes in case you couldn't make it in time. This counts as a bug fix to us, since a couple of the team noticed the sensitivity was unreasonably high. I since looked around to make sure I wasn't going mad, and there's a known difference in the mouse sensitivity between builds for WebGL and other platforms which we weren't aware of. I don't think we've done anything wrong here as we're not adding features any more. For instance, it would have been great to add this as an option in a settings menu, but we ran out of time. We also don't have a pause menu where such a setting would have been helpful, but again we ran out of time.
Really? Is that written somewhere, or did I miss it?
It is, yes! On the jam homepage, there's the following text under the "Submitting" header:
It's essentially done on a honour system, which is very permissive, but hopefully people understand that there's nothing to be gained from winning the jam through disingenuous means. They also reinforced this point in the deadline announcement on their Discord server. If you've got some bugs you want to iron out, you still have time!
Really good game. Should be a test in the driver education course on how to deal with distractions while driving (^_^)
