How does your game fit the theme?
The game presents 2 phases, one calm at the start of the game when cleaning the cottage and a second one of "tempest" when the guest arrives

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
All the assets and the code was created from scratch during Brackeys Game Jam 2024.2, except for sound effects made using Freesound.org.

Hey ! Brilliant game, the end twist is well done (I still don't know how I couldn't see that coming despite spending 5 minutes to clean every bloodstrains on my way ahah).

Anyway, the art is really great and the music fit well ! Also great theme interpretation, that quite amazed me ahah.

What a nice chill game about doing your chores :) Can't wait for my guests to arrive!

"Ahh, what a nice, relaxing game about tidying up a house before guests come in...

...wait, is that blood?

Nah, it must be ketchup or something like that.

Let's receive the guests!

That's strange, the theme of the jam was "calm before the storm", but everything is calm right now...

...oh."

But really, great little game! The theming is just on spot!

Just found the controls to be a bit slow, but thinking back, that adds a lot to the tension.

Good job! :D

Your github link isn't working.  I get a 404 error message.

The pixel art is glorious.  I really liked the art style.  The music was used very well.  Flipping between calm and horrifying.  It's very short, but I was genuinely surprised at the twist.  I thought I was just cleaning up muddy footprints!

Recommendations:

- Longer.

- It's best not to capture the cursor if the game doesn't use the mouse.

- Add more to the game play.  Maybe you have to avoid guests seeing you doing the bad thing and so have to pick the moment carefully.  Try to have some kind of lose state.

Well done and polished game.

I was expecting some kind of twist, but definitely not that. Haha good job.

Good interpretation of the theme.
I got stuck on doors not looking like doors and the cloth things I picked up not sure what they were.
Other than that as soon as he locked the door behind  the guests I knew what was about to happen.

10/10 would dine on my guests again

Great take on the theme!!
Got a bit hung up on that towel/cloth looking object for a bit but figured things out once I realized you could go through the doors.
Well done :)

I'm here because everyone is talking about the twist. Loved the idea and the ending is so cute and sweet! I will suggest all my friends to play it before sleeping. Also a wonderful game for kids!

nice graphics, fitting music, clever twist, although it was pretty obvious there would be SOME kind of twist with the blood/clawmarks everywhere lol. one little thing was that i wasnt really sure what the white cloth thing(towel?) was, so i wandered around looking for a trash can thinking it was trash, but eventually found the laundry bin. also didnt realize that there was more than one room until i completed all the tasks in the first room, maybe try to consider the visual queues a little more for the intended purpose of doors and stuff. really great game, maybe just think about the visual queues a little more. thanks for entering!

Twist was cool. I would have liked the second section to be more involved, i feel like that would contrast with the first nicely. alternatively also think it could be cool if the cleaning in the first section was turned into minigames or something like that, and then the second section were maybe like  inversions of them lol. Definitely a lot of ways you could take this concept if you wanted to develop it further. Art is very nice with a good vibe.

I like the story. Like the art style and the general vibe of the game. Of course, well done on the twist.
If I nitpick, I would say that tutorial is not needed. Some way to drop/pile object would be great.
Fullscreen mode. Some postprocessing and 2D lights would be great too.

But overall the game was fun to play and surprising.
Great work.

Maybe before going to sleep isn't the best time to play the game... Thank you so much for the feedback!

What aspects of the game did I enjoy the most? Really loved the ambience during the calm phase. It felt like such a cozy game and really relaxing. During the tempest I was so pleasantly surprised it put a smile on my face. I did think that the mess around the house was foreshadowing something, but I would not have guessed the twist. Really enjoyed the short sweet experience.

What aspects of the game would I change? Really minor quality of life would have been nice, for example it was difficult to understand what I should do with the loose cloth I picked up from the ground, I could not drop it anywhere after picking up so I had to explore the entire house with that in hand without being able to fix anything else.

Team composer here. Thank you so much for enjoying the music! :)

Sorry I forgot to mention the music and audio design in the comment, it was a major part of the vibes for sure.
