I actually really enjoy the idea of solving a puzzle then having to platform, my only real suggestion for the future is look into making Coyte Timers and the character slows down if they hit a wall, I'd say those little changes would take the gameplay from a 9 to a 10
I found the concept very cool and the visuals are great, but having to restart everything when i die got old pretty quickly
Simple yet fun! The visuals and sound design are great, and the puzzles are well thought out. Great job!
Interesting idea, to have it swap between puzzle platformer and a precision platformer. The way I needed to beat the second storm level was pretty clever. The third one, I couldn't leap across that chasm, and after a few tries I had to give up. I would have tried more if there was a checkpoint there, because having to re-solve a puzzle over and over again isn't fun. I'd also like to move faster. I could see there being more clever puzzle/level designs, like that one with the second storm.
I really liked the concept of the game! The puzzles are fun and engaging, but I found the controls a bit tricky. The character sticks to walls, making it harder to platform efficiently. If the movement was smoother, it would improve the experience a lot. Despite that, I see a lot of potential here, and I enjoyed what I played! Keep up the great work, and Iād love to see future updates!
i think the concept of the game & the puzzle section is cool, but because of the physics and the friction attached to the side of the wall i couldn't get past the first ledge. but there's a lot of potential here! i think it's cool, even what little i played.
if you added more power to the jump i think that would improve it a lot.
Thanks for your kind suggestions starlion we will improve the physics and jump next time and take care of friction also.
Thanks for your valuable feedback.
Fun game concept! It needs a little bit of tuning for the jump, but otherwise it's fine. I liked a lot the use of stones to create puzzles in the calm part of the game.
Hmm,
actually jumping has a ground checker so when the player goes on ledge so ground checker can't detect the ground. Next time we will improve this.
Thanks for your great feedback.
This is such an impressive game! The way everything flows together feels so well thought-out, and itās clear that a lot of passion went into making it. From the gameplay to the visuals, itās a great experience all around.
thanks for the kind words .
btw i chack your game also . and daam you realy made it in HTML only ?
like i means was it a challange or
no one told you about that game engine exist ?
Im a programmer and I just stareted to learn js and I wanted to check if I can do something bigger than a simple page. The game is open source and you can find it on my github: @malybaryl/windy-weather.
also you can check out my game which was made in godot: Evolution Conquer
I made it. You really caught me with this. I was determined to get to the end. I liked the challenge even though it was somewhat frustrating at times. I don't know if I would have made the same choice of having the player replay the puzzle part of the level each time. Otherwise I really like the vibe (calm puzzling and platforming under pressure). Really enjoyed myself. I agree with some others, that the player controller and collision detection could be a bit better, as I missed a few jumps or got caught on ledges, but it was kind of part of the challenge too, even though it might not be intended. Just makes it a bit more frustrating :D
Edit: I also really like the fourth wall moving of blocks instead of pushing it around with the player controller. Opens up new possibilities for puzzles :)
Damn, bro, you got this. I can feel the frustration and happiness at the same time in your comment XD. My goal was to create a challenging platformer for speedrunners, so I intentionally kept some bugs and issues to make it more "challenging." However, it turns out that these elements became frustrating, especially with the replaying of the calm puzzle parts.
I see potential in this game for players like you and me who enjoy speedruns and challenges, so I'll definitely update it after the jam. I plan to add more levels and improve the platforming.
Fun fact: During playtesting, the timer for the 4th level was so hard to match that even my friend, who also worked on the game, couldnāt complete it. but Since I completed it, so we knew it wasnāt impossible, so we kept the timer at 30 seconds. so Youāre the first person (after me) to complete the 4th level. You got this, man. Congrats!
1 second clutch !!! holy š¤Æ
Thanks for giving us your feedback.
Cool game! The art was simple and clean, good job!
Your game was also good and had awesome game design.
I really liked the game and its controls are good.
Great Job š
Fun little puzzle platformer, the art style is pretty interesting, and the calm world ambience was really nice. My only critique would be that the platforming and puzzle levels felt a bit separate from each other.
Actually, they are connected (in level 4), but because of the jump problems and wall frustrations, a lot of people didnāt make it there. Iāll definitely update the game with more interconnected levels, improved player controls, and more unique puzzles.
thanks for the reply
Some bugs I found include sometimes instantly using your double jump when just leaving the ground ruining some jumps and sticking to the wall the whole time was also kind of annoying.
You get massive points for the movable blocks though, if timed correctly you could fly with them which was a lot of fun haha.
Good game just needs some polish.
Thanks for the review. I apologize for the wall issue—that happened due to the physics met of wall. Iāve already fixed it and am just waiting for the jam to end so I can release the patch.
The glitch with flying using movable blocks is new to me. Iāve played the game many times and tested the rigid body of blocks, but I havenāt encountered this issue before. If you could provide a screenshot of the glitch, it would be really helpful for me to resolve it.
It's more like you can boost yourself up with the blocks but if you get the timing right you can keep doing this mid air. Tbh I would see it more like a fun feature I found while fucking around than a bug because it isn't that useful. Just something fun :)
š your comment made me rolling on floor
Thanks for fu*king around and giving us new unexpected things.
well if say so then we wouldn't touch it ...
its not a bug .. its a feature XD
That's how cool new features are sometimes formed. If it doesn't ruin the experience completely why take it out š¤·āāļø x
Played for a bit, good puzzles, just a few things
The levels seem a bit wide/long, zooming out and/or squeezing the levels sides in a bit would be nice.
When you jump against walls you seem to stick a bit, was a bit of a pain trying to jump up ledges.
Other than that, great little submission for the jam!
Yeah camera size is a bit short .
We thought that the player should have less visibility so that he can explore the calm.
And sticking to wall may be due to physics material. We will take care of that next time .
And also jumping problem yeah.
Thanks for your great feedback.
Cool game, i think it could really use some quality of life for platforming (coyote time for example) also the player feels awfully slow. But on bright side thr graphics and audio are pretty good and its fairly original.
7.5/10 :)
Cool game! interesting conscept with the dual worlds :)
Heya! Really loved the contrast in the colour palette and the way your screenshots and thumbnail accentuate that, very nice presentation! Here's my feedback from playing your game:
Game Design:
Technical feedback:
Graphical feedback:
What I loved:
As mentioned, I really loved the aesthetics and colour palette chosen. The use of purple is gorgeous and contrasts the yellows and greens of the nature levels. The character being a white glowing cube also makes it stand out regardless of the level. Loved the intro animation as well and the music that adds so much "feel" to the game!
Edit: Also using the mouse to move the cubes is pretty nice, and the physics interactions is also cool. While I didn't make it far, I think that's an idea that I would've loved to see explored more of in later levels!
Thanks for this detailed feedback! I honestly didnāt think too much about the difficulty while developing the game, but after submission, I received plenty of complaints about how the jumping and repeating the calm world became frustrating for players. So, Iām really considering adding checkpoints and increasing the jump force a bit. However, Iām not sure if the mods will allow me to do that since Iāve already updated the game once (for a patch fix). What do you think? This is my first Brackeys Game Jam, so Iām not too familiar with the rules. If it's allowed, Iād definitely make those changes.
By the way, thanks for the technical feedback—it was really informative and will definitely help me polish the game. Iām also planning to expand the game, add more levels, and eventually release it on mobile devices.
Thanks again for your valuable time. I hope your game makes it to the top 5—it was absolutely crazy Sh*t!
Hey! Sorry this is actually my first time participating in this Brackey's jam as well so I can't really comment on what can or can't be allowed as I'm also unsure.
I too, want to update my game's description and also put out a new build to change two lines of code that adjusts the game's difficulty, but I notice that doing that will update the game page and am unsure if that constitutes as making a change. I think you can ask the mods to be absolutely sure if it's allowed (and if you do that, I'd also like to know too haha).
I see you've played Stormbridge, thanks for trying it out and please feel free to let me know your thoughts or critiques on it if you have any, as I am also trying to learn and improve on it! :)
I spoke with the mod named "Just Old Now," and they said you're fully allowed to update the itch.io page whenever you want. However, if you want to make changes to the game files, you need to get permission from one of the admins or mods first.
I also asked about what changes are allowed. There was a glitch in the first level related to the portal and instructions, and he mentioned that if a bug or problem is breaking the game experience—like in my case, where players don't have instructions on where to go and what to do—you can make those changes. Small tweaks to your existing code are also allowed, as long as youāre not creating something entirely new.
For your case, since you only want to change a couple of lines of code, you might get permission for that. Just ask in the help section of their Discord server: Discord Help Section.
Best of luck with your stream game also!
thanks so much for the info! This is good to know! I saw that bit about how you can make a change if it's game breaking, but I wasn't sure what constitutes as "game breaking" as technically the game does function without the changes, but the changes are also minor enough that I'm not creating something new š
nice game, i love puzzle platformer games because they always surprise me with a game mechanic i did not think of :D also in your game i was pleasantly surprised! 1 thing i did not like was the player getting stuck on walls but overall good job :)
Great game, I liked the idea. Using mouse to help player to navigate
šthanks
This game could have been fun, but there are two major issues that don't make it fun:
Good effort though
Actually had some time left before work. Hi, much clearer after you extra information, very nice game. I also broke it again haha, if you keep holding something when changing the level, and then in the black release it then it reswitches and to the current level which it already did goes back to black and then you can't do anything haha. Also it might be my gaming skillz here but I actually think the levels are quite hard :( But very lovely game well done!
