Game's Take on the Theme
You need to spin the slots for a chance of getting buffs or removing debuffs

Did your team make the majority of the art and music during the jam?
Yes, art made by me

Excellent implementation of the theme! Addictive :)

Developer

Thanks!

plays nice, the premise of stealing the lunch money from a old man to gamble faster ways to kill him is funny.
i enjoyed the game very much!

Developer

Thank you! haha

I really loved how you blended a shooting game with a card-based board! The way you use the spin mechanic to get power-ups is super creative and adds a nice layer of strategy.

Developer

Thank you!

Very fun mechanic and idea !!

Picking up the coins and damaging the boss feels amazing really nice, too bad there isn't any sound :(

Wish there were more slots to add to the overall chaos, doesn't feel too chaosy with just 5 !

The idea is amazing but its not executed the best, the boss has a gigantic amount of helth and getting 5 really good upgrades and not having to spin anymore with the big spin is really easy since you get alot of coins.

Besides the lack of sound and the weird balance. This game is really good!

I reccomend working on it post jam abit cause this is a really neat idea!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, I need to work on the balance of items, you said that it's easy to get 5 good items, but others have said that the debuffs are more frequent lol maybe I need to rework the entire probability of items and make them less random. I'll consider changing the slot quantity btw

Looks like I got that gamblers luck lol

The only debuff I got was that the boss became invincable and it was the first thing i ever got and i just tought I softlocked the game but then i did the big spin and never got a debuff again lol.

Developer(+1)

Haha, but anyway the game was supposed to have at least 3 bosses (just couldn't do it in time), and as it was made with more than 1 boss in mind, even if you got lucky against one boss there would be others to fight and the outcome could be different

Really liked the concept and the design of being a casino and the attacks being related to this. Also loved the way the money spawned from the boss when hitted, felt really satisfyting (even tho I think that with sounds this would feel incredible! :D) I had a problem where sometimes the slots would get stucked after I spinned it and would go out of screen, but reloading solved it so Idk what happened there. Anyways overall a great experiencie! Cheers :D

Developer

Thanks! Do you mean that the slot machine UI didn't disappear after resuming the game? Someone else said that got this bug too, but it never happened when I tested the game, I still need to reproduce it to know what's happening

Very good concept, the boss hp is a little big, but still fun! I really like the art and the gamefeel, the occasional chaos of all of it is great. Keep up the good work!

Developer

Thank you!

I like the aspect of pure randomness, even if it can be so frustrating, especially the hp swap or when you pull the boss’s invulnerability.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! I gotta reduce the invulnerability's probability

I like the idea, and it would be cool to see this expanded upon. I think the boss has a little too much health, and I feel like the debuffs are way worse than the buffs do good, so it's not really worth it spinning the wheel too much. Good job overall!

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, I'm getting some criticism about his HP, I gotta tweak it. I need to balance the items more too

Submitted(+1)

Man, I really liked the whole aesthetic of the game involving casinos, and I think it's the only game in the jam where you're the slot machine. Very good!

Developer

Thank you!

I just defeated the boss in 1.39.19! The slots mechanics is really cool and full of surprises, it's fun and challenging too! Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I plan to add a leaderboard, but I need to think how I would implement it while having items like swap HP and instant win, that depend purely on luck haha

Fun game!

Some of the spins change how you play the game completely but others don't really do much

I didn't really understand how the currency system worked.

Overall a fun experience!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! The currency is pretty simple, there's nothing much to it, you can use 100 to get 1 item or 500 to get 5 items. The boss drops money every time he's hit

I liked the game, I just got dizzy with that spinning thing haha.

Developer

Thanks! haha

Gambling….

Submitted(+1)

good game! i think the coins when collected feels satisfaying lol

if there was sound and music it would be very good! and maybe make the first boss less tanky because he has ALOT of health like too much lol! but it's fun experience and the upgrades felt nice and the shotgun is op lol

overall good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I'll tweak his health on future updates, some combinations can deal too much damage so I was worried about giving him less HP haha

Submitted(+1)

yeah lol it's a good game anyways good job

I played your game in the browser but the player is not even moving. I have a normal phone so it is not working. I liked the game.

Developer

It doesn't work on phones, only pc

Very fun entry! I really like all the power-ups and how you have to gamble on getting a good set. Great job!

I like this game a lot!  The art style is clean and appealing, the theming is fun, and I was surprised by the buffs and debuffs you can get from the slot machine.   When my screen started wobbling I had the biggest smile.  The "90% of gamblers..." game over screen got a good laugh out of me too.

The biggest thing I think you can take into your next jam is this:  Sounds are the most bang for your buck you can get when it comes to game feel.  If you can only implement one piece of polish, make it a sound effect each time the player gives an input.  This will be a huge benefit during the design process and helps you find the fun.

I can see in a comment below you mentioned that you wanted to get to sound implementation but ran out of time.   A fantastic method I'm hoping you'll try is start your project and add some generic placeholder sounds you have the rights to use  They don't need to fit great and it's actually probably a good thing if they don't so you don't forget to replace them later.  When you implement a feature, for example the damage numbers or rolling a slot machine, add the sound implementation right there with a generic sound effect.  Now that part of the game has sound implemented and it's easy to go back and replace the effect later with something more appropriate.  Even if you end up not having time to go back and replace the placeholder sound, a generic sound is usually better than no sound at all.   If you leave sound until the end, it's hard to get back and do a good job.  If you bake it in along the way your game feel is gonna skyrocket.

Fantastic job, I can't wait to see more from you!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, that's a really good tip! I knew that sound was really important but I got so nervous about finishing the gameplay that I didn't think of implementing it earlier

Nice game concept! The controls are easy to pick up and the idea is really unique. Great work.

Thank you!

Great game! haven't gotten that lucky playing it though :(

(PS: If you're willing to I'd love it if you can rate and leave some feedback on my game! This is my first ever jam and I'd love to see where I can improve for the future!)

Developer

Thank you! I'll check yours! It was my first jam too!
